Never played a Tekken game? :error:
DOES NOT COMPUTE. DOES NOT COMPUTE.
I also hadn't played a single Fifa game until that 2010 South Africa World Cup one that I played at a friend's some time last year. The only basketball game I've ever played was NBA Street V3 and that was only long enough for the tutorial to start talking about flicking my trick stick (well I've played a bit of NBA Jam too). I've also never played a Ridge Racer game.

I tend to stick to the genre I play most. The only 3D fighter I've dabbled in is the Soul Calibur series (I played a bit of Virtua Fighter 4 at one point too I guess).

I wouldn't be surprised by FIFA. I've never played it either. The only sports game I've played since 2001 is probably Madden.

I was surprised by the fact you've never played Tekken because it's been around as long as Soul Calibur, and it's a staple of the fighting genre -- something you seem into casually. I've played a DOA game and VF games even if I'm not a huge fan -- the only major fighters I can think of that I probably missed out on were CvS/CvS2 and Guilty Gear, as I think those all came out when I was taking a break from gaming or they were on platforms I didn't own.

You should try Tekken -- it's infinitely better than Soul Calibur, IMO. And it's definitely one of the most fun/varied fighting games ever. At least for casuals. There are so many unique fighting styles... so many characters just feel "different" from each other, even if they have overlap. (Brian/Bruce, Kazama Jin/Kazuya/Heihachi, etc.)

Tekken is the fighting series I grew up on, but I never actually knew how to play them properly, so TTT2 will be the first one in the series I really learn to play (hopefully).

I've never played Tekken either. I feel like I missed out on a lot of things that started in the PS1 era for Sony/Sega.
As for Skullgirls credits, I am in the fun section that is very Japanese. I think you guys can figure out what section I am in.
Spit it out or I won't give a damn.
Oh, and don't forget what site you're on. This isn't SRK or GAF, buddy.
SRK is on that game's nut sack and GAF ... is GAF.
Tekken sucks, Icebeast. Don't waste your time.

Play Battle Fantasia instead.
Agreed.

I mean I've gotten a bit more into fighters as of late (as in the past 1-2 years), when I was younger I basically only played RPGs, platformers, and single player FPS games, with an occasional attempt at a 2D fighter (but that was mostly restricted to the Street Fighter series, and if you think I'm terrible now you can only imagine how awful I was then). I did play Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast though and got really into playing it just against the CPU, and went on to play a ton of SC3 which is why I'm still into that series.

As far as 3D fighters go I really haven't played any of them, no DoA, no Tekken, and only a small amount of Virtua Fighter 4.

3D fighters are terrible.

I'll wait for inevitable Wii U version, Dark Souls: Jolly Cooperation Edition.

So far... pretty much, especially since one of the problems with GFWL is save corruption.

Sounds like some hijinks to me.
I watched the entire credits in skull girls and didn't see a single j-cart. I call shenanigans.
Tricked.

Why do you think people enjoy it there? You'd have to be fuckin' high to like it.

Amen. Sometimes it tastes like sweet nectar, sometimes it smells like a spoiled can of tuna.

Quality control is an issue, methinks.

And you don't want to waste it. Some people are starving for it, would be a shame.

You've gotta deal with it if you want to get to it.

Sub-Zero's fatality? Does anybody ever actually buy shirts from woot?

Anyways, Guild Wars 2 has a fps like Last Stand thing going on and that's just the best.

Yes. Does anyone from the GGT actually ever buy fighters on x360?

This might be the greatest picture ever. The guy on the left is Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard. On the right is Dustin Browder, lead designer of Starcraft 2.

sUjCJl.jpg

The picture is from the GSTL finals in Las Vegas a few days ago. After a fantastic game of unending aggression, the underdog Parting was poised to finally bring down MKP, all but ensuring victory for his team (and giving him the real possibility of performing an all-kill).

Then there was a connection error, and both players were dropped from the game. After a crowd-led chant of "We want LAN, we want LAN!" (Starcraft 2 can only be played through Battle.net, and there are no ways to recover dropped games), the two players had a rematch, and MKP beat Parting. He then defeated three of Parting's teammates, winning the season for his team.

Videogarms!
I doubt that anyone at Activision knew enough about Starcraft to have an opinion on LAN.
Exactly.

My rendition of the Activision boardroom:

Bobby: So you are telling me that people play online PC games next to each other?

Blizzard guy: Yes, but there is this thing called LAN to ensure the best connectivity.

Bobby: Is LAN online?

Blizzard guy: No.

Bobby: Why would anyone want be on LAN when they are already connected to the internet?

Blizzard guy: For LAN parties, tournaments and the such. It is a standard for PC gaming.

Bobby: Well our new standard is online everywhere, all the time. If LAN is not online then it is not needed. Wait, can we sell LAN as an extra?

Blizzard guy: Uhhh..

Bobby: I like the sound of that!

I figure there are two reasons for no LAN, and "piracy" don't even enter in to it.

1: Everybody was going to buy Wings of Liberty anyway. I mean, Heart and Legacy are a bit more up in the air, but Wings? Nobody didn't buy it because of the lack of LAN.

2: Blizzard's legal battle with KeSPA, the Korean e-Sports Association. With Brood War slowly dying and SC2 positioning itself as eSports Jesus, no LAN means that Blizzard has control of how tournament operators use their game. No LAN means that when KeSPA and GOM and all those big western tournaments showed up, Blizzard got to pull its cock out and see who got on their knees the fastest.

I should really stop doing analogies.

Just jimbo I think. I had OG MvC3 on 360 before I traded it in.

All I got from that was Blizzard cock.

You ought to consider filling out that blizzard cock analogy. Give it a solid narrative, an illustration or two. Based on past GGTs, I think it might find a receptive audience.
