El Shaddai is a cool game. Its based on the Book of Enoch. Its got lots of Jewish stuff in it, i like that cause im a jew :) and only 3 bux also. Im so super-jewy. Twin Snakes. . .I'm kinda torn on. Dialogue and voice over changes are what they are, and the overall gist is still there, but some of the changes were unnecessary. First person mode breaks so many parts of that game, which was not designed with it in the first place. See the Ocelot battle for an example. And there's just overall weirdness, like the over the top cutscenes. I'll believe Grey Fox doing insane shit, but Snake jumping off of a missile and throwing a grenade at another was just silly as hell. Also when he's listening to Liquid and Ocelot talk in the computer room, he does this needless side flip over the top of the door. In MGS, he just switches sides quietly. Just makes me laugh. In a series full of absurd stuff, Snake is one of the few that's grounded in reality as far as abilities go, so it's a bit jarring to see him pulling off insane stuff. Dude that did Versus directed the cutscenes, so it's to be expected, I guess. It's just out of character for Snake, and that's my biggest issue with it.

Now Raiden? Dude's a super cyborg in MGS4 and Rising, so he can do whatever the hell he wants and I'll take zero issues.
 
My main problem with Twin Snakes is the redone dialogue. I've played MGS1 so much I know most of the dialogue by heart. The changed lines just threw me off. Like taking out my favorite Sniper Wolf line: "It is a love letter my dear. A bullet straight from my gun to your heart."

So yes, quite possibly the nerdiest problem you can have with a remake...

Yeah, agreed, a lot of the dialogue changes were either unnecessary or just stupid. Removing that line was lame. It's a great line, no reason to remove it.

It was super silly, but that was part of what I liked. Twin Snakes was actually my first time playing MGS1 so it was pretty normal for me and I didn't realize till about a year later when I decided to play through the PS1 version that I realized how much crazy shit they put in. I still like all the anime scenes added to when Otacon talks about giant mechs. So great.


Man, been playing some of that Sony Smash and now I'm actually kind of disappointed that I waited so long. Shit's great. Maining Raiden right now, but I'm playing around with Big Daddy's moveset.
 
Most of the changes in Twin Snakes are due to Kojima's insistance. He didn't want an exact shot-for-shot, word-for-word remake and encouraged the cutscene director to use his own ideas and presentation style. Its not perfect, but I still prefer it over the original.

Spent all day yesterday watching dat Game of Thrones S2. Not as good as S1, but thats because of the awesomeness of Sean Bean.

I do hate it. But Nintendo blows and I hate the ps3 controller, interface, shitty store layout and slow as molasses downloads. And none of my real life friends have PS3s. Only thing I really dig is PS+ for the free games.

Plus Sony is no better. Plenty of people got screwed when psn was hacked and their customer service is also attrocious. Sony and MS are both big, evil corporations that don't give a shit about anything but their bottom line so I really hate giving either my money.

But it's just the nature of the beast as with game consoles and other electronics you either do without or give your money to a shitty corporation that doesn't care about their customers, has their products assembled in sweatshops etc. So you just have to live with that crap or do without and just base purchase decisions on which product fits your needs and preferences best.

I do wish that was Sony given my direct terrible experience with ms, but I can't change that I hate the controller and OS interface and online system on Sony, that I love gears and halo, and that my friends game on 360. To me Sony is the better system for hardcore gamers still interested in things from Japanese developers and MS is a better fit for more casual gamers who just play a few AAA shooters, WRPGS etc. like me.
