I liked Heavenly Sword, mainly because it portrayed a strong, female protagonist.
NT made sure that was secondary to her design which was spank material for straight TMK-type gamers. Didn't she have one ass cheek exposed like the Enslaved female?

I'd google image search myself, but I'm faaar too afraid of what I'd find.
Is that why they see at only 24fps?
I thought LoS was long because you do a shitload of backtracking and get lost easily because it's not clear on what to do. Well, that's what I was told anyway.

Not yet. I've been playing for 2.5 hours and I'm in the 2nd stage of the second chapter.

How is the progression in LoS setup? Is it purely linear? Level based?

I need to play some more Dead Rising. I still haven't used the knife gloves (haven't figured out where to reliably get the bowie knives).

BlueScrote,
there is one of top of the newstands right across from the sports store that you get the boxing gloves at (right by where you come out into Royal Flush Plaza from the Safe House)

There is also a store that has an infinite # on the bottom floor of Palisades Mall (right by the maintenance tunnel).

I just beat Chapter 1 of Lords of Shadow. When you look at the Map Screen initially you're like 'this doesn't look so big' then you accidently hit back again and you see the full map. A few complaints I have right now are the framerate, which seems to fluctuate between 20 and 30 pfs (but it rarely seems to hit that) during gameplay. During the first boss it went all Shadow of the Colossus framerate on me -_-. Another complaint is that I'm REALLY not seeing Castlevania in this yet. Maybe it gets there later, but right now I'm definitely not seeing it. Final complaint is there aren't checkpoints for separate phases of bosses. Now this was a bit hurtful during the first boss, and I can only imagine that it gets worse from here. Knight difficulty isn't too bad so far, but I have died a handful of time.

Oh, and who thought it was a good idea to not refill my health at the end of every level?

With all that being said, the game is pretty good so far, especially the music.

There are checkpoints for different phases of bosses.

My only complaints is the same health complaint you have and also I hate the quick time events. I just completely forget this game has them and then they come out of nowhere and I miss them.

Other than that, I haven't noticed any framerate issues and I personally think this is a great game. Just beat Chapter 3.

I just started Dante's Inferno and it is nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be! The game is actually pretty fucking cool. I even think I'll do both a Holy and Unholy run.

I thought Dante's Inferno was pretty great. Personally enjoyed it more than GoW3. Mainly because anything outside of boss fights in GoW is pretty boring.

In an interview the director of the game said "It was always intended to be Castlevania." and stuff like 'we used Super Castlevania IV as our Bible.'

I guess I was fooled,

Wiki:

"The game was originally announced as Lords of Shadow with no connection to the Castlevania series mentioned.[9] According to Konami, this was to keep their plans to radically change the direction of the Castlevania mythos a secret"
Yeah Dante's Inferno didn't reinvent the wheel, but I thought it was a pretty fun game.
It really is, I enjoy just about everything about it, to be honest. Especially the whole Damn/Absolve thing.

I'm with you there, I mean, I'm only about 30 minutes in, but the Holy/Unholy decisions is where it became amazing for me.
When I absolved Pontius Pilot of his sins I literally lost my shit.
Way more fun than God of War 3.

God of War 3 shits all over Dante's Inferno.
The combat wasn't satisfying, the bosses were lame, the upgrade system was useless.

The only things that it had going for it, as far as I was concerned, was (a) new game+ and (b) the relic system.

Playing dance dance revolution for absolving everyone was whack as hell too.
If you're an achievement whore, absolve them all. Period. You get more souls, you'll get an achievement for hitting a certain 5... Absolve is the way to go. And the dance dance salvation shit is annoying, but if you're good enough, you'll get super bonus souls.
Also, you can talk to Virgil more than once at each location. Make sure you do. Sometimes he'll toss you a relic. Talk to him until he disappears, always.

Thanks for the Virgil tip! I was wondering why he stuck around after I talked to him earlier. The absolution mini game does suck, but I still really enjoy absolving people. Haven't hit a boss yet, I think... I'm not sure, though, and I like the upgrade system. It looks like it will give more customization than GoW did.

The combat in the game is so broken....

I'm just bitter cause I wasted a saturday night doing the gates of hell challenge for the last trophy -- and it took me 3.25 fucking playthroughs to get everything cause I missed a relic early on and it took two additional tries to get all the Virgil convos because I didn't know you had to talk to him until he disappeared and I kept missing him on the Ice bridge... keep an eye out for him when you make it there, fucker blends in because he's blue.

Going to try and jump back into Star Trek Online tonight. I just haven't been in an MMO mood lately.

Depending on how that goes I may or may not play more Nier.

Remember when I said the issue with health carrying over between levels in Castlevania might become a problem later on. Well, it did. BIG TIME. I cannot understand why they'd do something like that.

Ugh, it's issues like those that are game breaks for me. I really hope that doesn't make me completely hate the game once I get to it.

I got to Chapter 6 in Enslaved, and there are some minor little things that bug me. First, I think a soundtrack would have significantly helped the game, but I can understand why they opted out of one. They truly want you to feel isolated, which is exactly the impression I get. The other problem is the wacky camera angle. Still, the game is solid and now that I reached a major plot point, I can understand why people couldn't put the game down. Looking forward to continuing with the journey.

Well the problem lies in that some of the levels start you off with a mini-boss...or two...or three...in a row.

Okay...WHAT THE fuck!!!!?

Does the full game still feel like controlling a guy in molasses like the demo? That was my main problem with the demo, it didn't seem to control responsively.

Welcome to Ninja Theory 101.

As much as I wasn't a fan of L4D2 on the 360, you can buy it for PC now (on sale @ steam) if you don't have it for less than 7 bucks. You can also get the two pack of L4D and L4D2 for a little under 11.

What have they made other than 'Splosion Man? I still went ahead and downloaded the demo, I liked 'Splosion Man and was planning on getting Comic Jumper day one, but I've heard quite a few middling reviews so I held off.

No one's talking about Enslaved anywhere else on CAG so I'll just post my thoughts here. I played the Demo and I didn't like it. What turned me off was knowing that they used the unreal engine. I'm TIRED of that engine.. Its like I'm playing Wolverine Origins. X and square together produces a wide attack that pushes the enemy back...which is the same thing as Heavenly Sword when you're using the sword in long range / light attack mode. This is like Lair secretly being Rouge Squadron.

They also made The Maw, which I personally loved. From what I've heard about Comic Jumper, the gameplay itself isn't the best, but it's still worth playing for the humor.

The Maw was awesome.

I don't how to say this about Lords of Shadow, but they made Patrick Stewart annoying somehow.

Wall of text about Enslaved:

The full game of Enslaved is not like Wolverine or Heavenly Sword. It's a lot more varied than the demo would lead you to believe. The demo made it seem like the game is all simple platforming and combat, but the full game has a lot more to it. Right after the demo ends, you end up working with the girl (Trip) for the rest of the game. A lot of the time she can distract enemies in order for you to get closer to them and then take them out. Or you can distract the enemies in order for her to sneak past.

Also, one of the parts in chapter 2 involves you leading Trip through a mine field, but once you get near the end of it, some enemies appear. While fighting them, you have to avoid the mines, but if you hit an enemy into the mines they will explode. Little things like this help change up the combat enough to make it feel fresh.

And on top of the general gameplay feeling less generic and boring than Heavenly Sword, the writing and voice acting is superb so far. The environment/setting is also great for the plot and beautiful to look at. Overall, so far the game feels very unique to me even though some of its gameplay aspects are similar to other games at their core. The game shows a big improvement over Heavenly Sword, and makes me think that Ninja Theory isn't actually a bad developer at all. I think for people who love games with a good narrative/dialogue, this will be a strong GOTY contender.
L4D2 is great on 360 and if I had a comp that could run it, I'd definitely bite on the PC version.
Disagree, but you know that. fuck, I couldn't even play it long enough to get one achievement.

For less than $7 bucks, it's worth it on steam because I'm sure I could speed up the gameplay or find a mod that makes it so I actually enjoy it. Also, I don't have a PC at all at the moment I can use for gaming (my only PC is my work issued laptop, or I'm connected on my smartphone). I'm waiting til black friday to find a replacement for the laptop I had which died drinking a soda. :S

The Maw was fun. Mostly.
'Splosion' Man was ok.
I mostly planned on buying Comic Jumper with no questions asked... but it depends on when I can find the points to do so.

The Maw. If you missed the sale on it, you're a monster. >_<
Started my download for Comic Jumper without trying the demo.

I think Twisted Pixel has earned that right.
Cheers.

Disagree entirely. Most specifically with the bold.
Heavenly Sword had varied sections too, where you snuck around as Kai and used "Twing-Twang" to guide the arrows into their targets.
I haven't heard about projected length of Enslaved yet, but that may be the one area that NT learned something from with HS.
At this point...more.
He's not annoying as the character Zobek (cutscenes), from what I've experienced, but I can't help thinking of his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol when he's reading the chapter introductions. :S

As the character (though I've only met him once so far), no...but the monlogues...man, there are a lot of them. And you can't get past them because they're during the load times.

Mine usually loads quickly enough that he's only on the second sentence before I can press start to skip. Then again, he reads reaaaalllly slow.

I still gotta play the Maw, I've heard about it a lot, but never actually seen it in action or ever knew they were the ones that did it.
As annoying as Samus?
I started Other M this morning. I don't think I've ever had such an instant hate with a character before (except maybe the whole new Dante thing). She is ri-goddamn-diculously annoying in this game. It's like she was made just to be annoying.

I'll see about picking it up next time it's on sale. I'm downloading the trial now.

As for Comic Jumper, just played the trial... Gameplay is shit, but it is pretty funny. I like Brad the arch-nemesis.
