GGT #85 Hordes Games and Sells Them For Profit!

I'm fine with my Sennheiser PX 100's I got off Amazon for $35 a year or too ago.

Would kind of like some noise canceling headphones for flights, but most of them are so damn big it would be a hassle to fit into my already always stuffed carry on bags. As is I just use a pair of cheap skull candy ear buds someone got me for x-mas. They at least drown out the noise better than the px 100s.
I have those too!
*high five*
"high five" :) How long have you had them? I've had mine for a year and a half, and they are nicely burnt in. Sounds so good now.

yoyo

Burger King is disgusting :puke:

I got like a 99 cent burger coz I wanted more food in me so I wont be starving after work...

never again...

Preach it JEKKI!! BK is usually fucking gross.

But maybe that's because my local one is run by apathetic 16 year old fuckfaces that hate their lives and don't feel like making a decent fucking burger that's above room temperature. :bomb:

So I went to Toys R Us this afternoon hoping to pick up a few cheap DS games with their B2G1 offer.........

.......and I walk out with Yakuza.

Thanks a lot GGT!!! :bomb:
Is $140 for a brand new 120GB 360 a good deal? I wish I knew if/when MS is going to release a bigger drive.
It's MSRP is $150 now, so, no, not really.

Anyone interested in gifting me a copy of Mega Man 9 on the Wii and then sharing my Wipeout HD? Some guy was going to do that and then he decided he didn't like me. :(

Thanks, d. I figured as much...I just wish I knew when the next size is going to be released, 'cause I think I might be able to hold out until then...just have to be more selective on the DLC...

And sorry, but I'm a freaking game hog, and not comfortable with game sharing. If/when I do pick up MM9 and WO HD, those'll be mine, all mine! :)
God Hand is a great game.

Rolento, you should use the Beats of Rage engine for a GGT game. It'd have room for lots of characters/bosses..

Funny thing about those Saturn USB pads.. they're selling for $40ish apeice before $10+ shipping now.. lol. I got mine when it was around $20 shipped.

Still pissed that it doesn't work on PS2 games in BC mode.. I think a lot of people picking those up are going to be disappointed like that. But it's going to be nice for SF4.
i'd use beats of rage but just because you can't walk faster makes me not want to use it.

Hummm, NBA 2K9 may have just trumped Live's DNA with Living Rosters...so I can download new animations with players that have breakout games and not just their stats? Shit, that sounds awesome. I just hope the animations themselves look better than the in-game clips I've seen. :p
Wait, what? GGT game is happening?
yes... it has yet to be determined what it is... probably it's own genre.

also, BK is better than Mcdonalds in terms of burgers... if BK is shit, Mc is the shithole.

BK can be better than McDonalds, but in a local battle, McD smokes BK, mainly because their food is hot and fresh and BK's isn't. Wendy's kills both though IMO.

Honestly, I'd rather make my own burgers any day of the week. Homemade FTW!

NES

I've thought all day about this nes arcade stick, and I really want to do it. Assuming I have the necessary tools (dremel, something to cut the holes, etc.) how much would it cost me to do? I know you can buy buttons and sticks online, but would I need to strip a stick to get a board or is there a place to order them?

*note, I have no experience with case mods, saudering, sanding, etc.*

You'll need to get a PCB somewhere. I use PS1 PCBs for my stick, non analog. You can get them for cheap if you find them. GS has them for a buck. Some Dual Shock's PCBs can be used too. Other than that, MadCatz microcons are good too.

If you don't know how to solder, then you'd best learn first. You can read more about the whole process here. http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick.html

Also look here. http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=132452

Now I'm thinking about an NES arcade stick. X_X

Hmm, that actually looks pretty do able hank me. I'm trying to get an estimate on how much this would cost from google, but I'm having trouble. What do the buttons and joystick usually run? I don't really have to use sanwa or high end.

I just found on another site a pretty comprehensive guide to doing this. It says I can get Happ buttons and a joystick for like 20 bucks.

Happ buttons and sticks are cheaper than Japanese parts, typically about $2 or less for buttons and $10 or less for a stick. Lizard Lick is probably your best bet for parts. Beware the Happ stick though, get an IL one for $10. The current Happ sticks are made in China and their quality can fluctuate.

Happ competition buttons are currently $1.70 from there, and they always seem to be on sale. Also get some .187 quick disconnects too.
That's certainly affordable.

I think I can do this. I'm afraid I'll fuck up and have wasted my money though.
Well, you won't know until you try, right? Honestly, the hardest part is soldering wires to a PCB, and that's mainly because my hands are shaky. Just make sure you use a 15 watt soldering iron and some rosin core solder.

I'm thinking about doing it too. I have an old broken NES somewhere that would be perfect for it.

And yeah, putting holes in the NES without cracking it would also be hard.
Believe!

It's not too tough. The hardest part will be putting the holes into the NES casing without cracking it.
Shit, I hadn't though about that lol.

I'd almost rather buy a PS2 stick somewhere, but this is cheaper and soooooo much more awesome.

I have to find my nes though. I'll kill my mom if she threw it away.

I have an old PS1 I'll test it on before I plug it into my PS2 if I do do this though.

The guide I'm reading says I need some kind of tool that makes sure there isn't a short. Are those expensive?
I'll never understand the reverence for the NES... I mean, it's old, but that doesn't make it cool.
There's just something about the idea that seems immensely cool to me.

About $10 from Radioshack. Battery is like $2. Don't forget the battery!! ;)

You'll want a multimeter that can check for continuity.

Nothing better than a gray box.
Dremel would probably be the safest way. I'm going to try my 1.125" boring drill bit.
Well I don't have a dremel, but I have a drill so tell me how that works out lol.

Would it be best to drill the holes before I order the parts to make sure I don't fuck the case up after I've spend money?

If you screw up the case just buy some wood and do it that way. It would be was easier with some MDF. Then just use your drill with a spade bit to do the holes.

If I pooch my stick mod I will be using the parts I have and an old PS1 controller to make my own custom. I've been using a 65w iron though. That too hot?

So much for the arcade stick thread.

I totally prefer wood or MDF to other materials for sticks.

65w might be useable, but you need to be careful so you don't scorch the PCB. At that amount of watts, it wouldn't take more than a few seconds to burn it up. A 15w one is safer, plus they have grounded ones. The one I have is grounded, so it's safe to use on electronics.

Just post the pics in the arcade stick thread when you're done. ;)

If I screw up the drilling I'm just going to buy a stick. Only reason I want to do this one is because I think it's cool.
yeah, i'm sure there's a difference, but I'm pretty happy with my $13 purchase, for what it cost me. $500 is absurd unless you're working in a recording studio and producing actual albums or something though."
the amount of quality you get from $500 headphones (and you'll probably need an amp too, $200-$300) is equivalent to like a $8000 hi-fi audio system.

you can make the argument as to why people buy expensive TVs too.

Yeah, it's just a matter of whether you're an audiophile or videophile or not.

I'm neither so I never go high end on audio or video stuff and at best get middle of the pack consumer level stuff for both.

A really nice set of headphones or speakers is one of those things you also notice a lot more if you're used to using nice equipment. You don't want to go back to using ghetto stuff because it just sounds like crap to you.

QFT. It's all a matter of perspective. Once you move out of the ghetto, you don't want to go back. ;)

It's probably way more effective, and Capcom will have to see it. But... I still don't think it'll work. Whatever you're petitioning for.
