Is anyone sufficiently unhappy about the DLC structure for Megaman 9 to help draft wording for an internet petition?
Unhappy? a little. But I'll still probably get this if I enjoy the game enough.

I have a brilliant strategy for voicing your disapproval.

Don't buy the DLC!
A really nice set of headphones or speakers is one of those things you also notice a lot more if you're used to using nice equipment. You don't want to go back to using ghetto stuff because it just sounds like crap to you.
Don't get me wrong, I can tell a definite difference between my Sennheiser Px 100s and the crappy headphones I used before, and I'm sure even better ones would sound better. I just don't care enough to shell out the money.

Same with the TV, there are plenty of more expensive TVs that look better than the picture on my 50" Sony e2000 rear projection LCD set, but the picture looks good enough to me especially at the $999.99 I paid for it.

I care enough to not buy ghetto budget brands, but not enough to go high end and spend a ton of cash. Gots to pay the bills and save up for retirement etc.

I'm up for it.

Dear Capcom,

DLC that costs money?!! In MY current gen? No Wai!

Love,
Gamefaqs

DMK, you of all people should know that you vote with your dollars. I think what you need is a pact with other gamers not to buy it. It's all about numbers, right? So why try something as tacky as a petition.

QFT. It's all a matter of perspective. Once you move out of the ghetto, you don't want to go back. ;)

So true. I went back to my old MX500 earbuds today since I was too lazy to deal with the ath-em700s. The bass booster EQ setting on my ipod touch made them buzz at a relatively low volume level. I was listening to Earth and Boris which are pretty boomy, but still...

Time to open and install Crysis Warhead.

Not going to play it till Thursday. Not gonna. I gotta study.

Besides... I still gotta finish dat Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

I've come to believe that not buying the game isnt really a vote against the DLC. Its not casting a vote at all. Its not good enough. All they see is how many people buy it. They dont see how many people want to buy but wont.

I also believe that its a lost cause, and that the war on DLC is already lost. We'll be packing up and moving to portables next cycle. I'm in it till the end though.

i'm not saying you HAVE to have $500 headphones

just that it can be justified
and that we shouldn't be dissing people because they want it

yeah, 360 launch day was when it was over. I do agree that the MM9 DLC is lame, but I don't care enough to do anything about it...partially cause I don't care enough to buy the DLC. They're going to make a mint on it regardless. All I can do is look at DLC and think "that's slimy" and "that's less slimy than this one" since it's all content "removed" and sold back.

Does Crysis Warhead have a benchmark function? I wanna see how well it runs on enthusiast vs. gamer. And I'm not going to start a new game, because then I'll play it, and I already said I won't do that until Thursday.

Dragon Quest IV is also calling my name. Shut up, damn you!

I don't buy DLC, mainly because I hate paying more for a game than I already have.

Don't know about Warhead's benchmark function. Haven't checked.

And I'm not moving to portables next gen, I'm moving to the past. I've got enough games to play already. ;)

I'm with you there. I expect to have at least 5-7 years worth of backlog by the end of the generation, without having bought an HD console. I'll be cruising with no money spent for a long time.
BK can be better than McDonalds, but in a local battle, McD smokes BK, mainly because their food is hot and fresh and BK's isn't. Wendy's kills both though IMO.

Honestly, I'd rather make my own burgers any day of the week. Homemade FTW!

NES
am i the only one who likes Carl's Jr?

Carl's Jr>BK>McD>J-Box>anyother place> shit> piss> Wendy's

all the wendy's here are terrible and some times the food smells like feet :whistle2:#

No benchmark.

Use CUDAATS CCC--

Optimizes the hell out of the game and makes it look better, imo. For Warhead, you'll have to go back to the system.cfg and change streaming textures to 2.

100% agree. People can do whatever they want with their money. People shouldn't bash audio/videophiles for spending a lot of cash on their gear, and conversely audio/videophiles shouldn't bash people who just like music and movies/tv/games and don't obsess over getting the best picture and sound quality possible.

Different strokes for different folks.

Buy the game but don't buy any DLC. Then they see how many people have the game but didn't care to pay for the DLC.

I also believe that its a lost cause, and that the war on DLC is already lost. We'll be packing up and moving to portables next cycle. I'm in it till the end though.

Portables? You can be sure the next gen of portables will have on board storage and have DLC as well next gen.

Staying in past gens will be your only option next gen if you truly plan to buy nothing online, HD or download related.

Carl's Jr. is fucking awesome. But we don't have any in the midwest. Hardee's is owned by the same company now, and is comparable, but doesn't have the burger variety.

I want s Carl's Jr. guacamole and bacon six dollar burger right now.

I've got such a big backlog that I'll never get through it, ever. :)

The one exception I think we could make was in regards to ReRo's Commodore.

Fast food burgers I'd probably go: BK, Hardee's (none around me now though), Wendy's McDonalds.

I had Jack in the Box for the first time while travelling last week, would probably put it between Hardee's/Carl's Jr and Wendy's. Also had In N' Out a couple times, wasn't impressed and would put it only head of McDs.

Five Guys and Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger shit all over any of them, but they're not really fast food places (especially the latter since it's a sit down joint with wait staff) so I guess not a fair comparison.

I don't do fast food burgers. I don't really like the burgers at like... McDonalds that much, White Castle uses some ungodly substance in their burgers, and everything else gives you like 230289 calories.

Yeah, I only do fast food when traveling mainly.

On topic, looking forward to Kirby Superstar Ultra Tomorrow. Wished I'd had it earlier today when I was stuck in the waiting room for 2 hours while getting some scheduled maintenance done on my car.

Buying the game but not the DLC shouldnt work if the absolute number of people who did buy it made it worthwhile enough. The relative number of people who bought it is lower, but I dont see that as swaying them.

The next cycle of portable hardware may very be infested with DLC as well, but I expect Nintendo to be the last to fall. I am presently prepared to find a new hobby altogether within 5 years if thats what its come to. I'll get back into reading or something.

Its so sad to see what gaming has become.

I found a new hobby a while ago, drumming. :)

I just hate throwing down money on a game, especially SIXTY DOLLARS, and then have them turn around and try to hit me up for $5 or $10 more. It's not the amount, it's the principle.

Back off topic, I love Mexican food the most.:drool::drool:

I'll never understand you. I've been gaming since the mid 80's and I'm enjoying gaming this generation as much, if not more, than I ever did.

The only thing that bothers me is going download only, as I resell almost all my games. Everything else is just golden.

But to each their own.

Also I don't see why you think Nintendo will be the last to "fall." Yes they've been morons about online, but they also have been the most restrictive in the game formats (sticking with cartridges, the proprietary GC discs, high licensing fees etc. They would love to have a download only system where all software had to be delivered through them and couldn't be resold just as much as any of the companies.

I don't mind DLC per se, but I need my disc. I also want to be able to trade/sell off games I no longer play or want to keep. Not to mention, I don't want to get stuck like I already am, trying to manage my storage space. Kudos to Sony for letting me put in whatever HDD I want whenever I need to, but it's getting ridiculous having to upgrade all the HDDs of my consoles just to be able to game with piece of mind. The day all games go digital only I'm boycotting that shit.

What gaming has become? You mean optional DLC released months later to supplement a game as often as it is churned out the week of release for a quick buck? Oh noes, optional DLC is being forced upon me and I can't have hard copies! I've got a hard copy for you. Go play with your waggle controls and balance boards and the shit that is really ruining gaming this generation.

I'm all for DLC, it adds replay value to the games, but if that DLC is a 100KB key to unlock what's already on the disc or released a week or two after the game comes out then it's bullshit.

Well said!

I don't like DLC (except for true expansion packs--like Mass Effect, Oblivion Shivering Isles etc.), but online integration and HD graphics have definitely improved gaming. I was huge Nintendo fan coming into this generation, but the motion controls and casual games really killed my interest in the WII.

?

I'm ok with DLC, but I'm against digital distribution/disc-less games in general. I'll support the good stuff on PSN and XBLA while I can, but the day all games go digital is the day I boycott.

Also, Wario Shake It looks awesome and my kids love the balance board.

I'm with Preston on this one, the Wii alone turned me against Nintendo especially when we were given the "fuck you" by them. Not to mention that god awful press conference. Sucks 'cause I supported the GC too.

Well yeah, but stuff like the Mass Effect DLC and the GTA stuff upcoming are great ways to prolong a game or make the player revisit it. Oblivion too. And look at Rock Band--no way it would be my most played game of 08 without the weekly song releases.

Oh give me a fucking break. 20 years ago you'd get an impossible mega man with no extra modes for $50. Now you get exactly what you'd get in a classic Mega Man game for $10, or more for $18.

Yea, see, that's the type of DLC I'm all for.

This is exactly how I feel. I loved the GC, don't like the Wii.

I will say that I don't mind DLC as long as it's substantial content and not just "shit we should've put in the game in the first place."

Oh noes! The Wii makes me question my manhood! Good heavens

What's the problem with MM9 DLC? I know about Protoman which is a no-brainer purchase right there (MM9 w/ Protoman is simply $12). What else are they selling? Why are we making an internet petition? Why is Jesus secretly playing Speed Racer on the Wii?

Because he finished Yakuza 2 and Pops won't buy him a new game?

Who every said you can blow through Megaman 9 in an hr is an asshole. It took me three before I could beat my first Robot Master.

That said, Megaman 9 is well worth the $12 (if you consider Protoman to be part of the complete Package).

...what?

Trying to justify immediate DLC ... no.

Dude you act like they took out the ability to jump and is charging you to have it back.

MM9 is the complete deal at $10, and is easily worth $30

$2 to basically get a whole other game outta the deal? why the hell not?

God damn, I didn't even mention MM9 once when I was talking about DLC. I was talking about in general. Wanna know my take on MM9? Is paying $12 for the whole game a bad deal? No way in hell, is charging $2 more the day it comes out to play a protoman wrong? Technically no, but it's something that I'm calling bullshit on.
I'm giving up on the nes stick. Out of my abilities.

I'm still getting a stick though, just got to find a decent PS2 one for under 40.
Build your own. Just use MDF (wood). There are a ton of guides and sites out there to give you help, ideas, etc. Get good at it then make them and sell them if you want to justify costs =).

But in the downloadable games, with their floating price points, that's harder to nail down.

You can see this glass 1/2 empty and say they're charging extra for what should've been in the game originally.

You can also see this glass as 1/2 full, and say that they're allowing you to get only as much as you want. Don't want Protoman? Great! Save yourself $2.

The problem is, unlike disc games and their standard MSRP, we don't know what the price would've been with all this concept. If MM9 a $60 online FPS with only 4 maps and a 10 map pack available day 1 for $15, or is it a $20 budget FPS with a $15 map pack addon? There's quite the difference there.

I love all the Nintendo hate around here. The Wii is the new PS3. It's hip to be down!
