There might not be one, DVD will probably hang on long enough until digital distrubution of movies kill physical discs completely.
I certainly do, people aren't gonna pay $30 for movies and digital distrubution will take over before Blu-ray can get a decent hold in the market.

Yeah, I don't own any Blu-Rays because they're too damned expensive.
DVD is just fine. I'll take a $15 DVD over a $20-30-40 Blu Ray anyday.
I pretty much agree with these. I don't think Blu Ray will die off, but it's not going to remotely supplant DVD as the dominant format. It's just too damn expensive when it just offers better A/V quality (DVDs offered extras, no rewinding, instant scene access etc. over VHS). I can't believe Blu Ray discs are still so expensive vs. DVD.
I have an HDTV and only watch HD programming other than some sports that aren't in HD, but DVD is fine with me. I'm not paying a premium to watch movies in HD as upconverted DVDs look fine to me. When Blu Ray players are $150 or less for decent ones I'll pick one up and at least use it with my Netflix rentals. Discs have to get to around current DVD prices ($15-20 new, with lots of sales after the first few months) for me to start buying movies on BR though.
