God of War III -- Gen. Discussion

I know I shouldn't be laughing at how gruesome some of these kills are, but its the only emotion that comes to mind when I see Kratos rip 3 heads off a Cerberus.

Yeah, that Guitar hero moment in GoW3 was a bit weird but it didn't really break the immersion for me. I just kind of laughed that they would copy the buttons straight up like that. Although they seemed to have a greek look to them.

This games puzzles seems to borrow from other games. Portal and Echochrome are two that i know of.

I don't think I've smiled so much during a game in awhile. Just finished the game and it was great, but the ending
part kind of ripped off Max Payne.
 
The site says you can only redeem one skin code per PSN account, and on the GOW forum, it says that it takes up to five business days to receive the code.

Why couldn't they just give out normal PSN codes like everyone else?
 
For the Titan mode difficulty, can you use collectibles? IGN's guide says yes but in the menus, it says that collectibles can only be used on the difficult you beat/collected them on.

I'm at the final boss but had to stop playing. Man... I kinda don't want this game to end.

No you cant use collectables unless you replay the same difficulty or possibly lower difficulty that you already beat it on. I already beat the game on easy, when i got a collectable in titan difficulty i couldnt use it, says after i beat the game.

Man i really wish there wasnt a trophy for beating it on titan mode. I just reached the part in the demo where the minator comes out and you also have to fight like 10 soldiers at once. Problem is even if you are hitting an enemy it seems like he will just go right through your attacks and hit you anyway. Blocking doesnt do shit unless you parry the move, and thats hard when you have 3-4 guys trying to hit you one right after the other. Also i was trying to use the flame arrow on one and kratos aims the other direction. Its really :bomb: me off. That and the fact that after i die in the same spot 5 times it asks if i want to play on easy. Wish i could shut that thing off.

the Labyrinth
, which I assume is at the end. It's making me very angry. After I beat the game, I will have to try to beat it without dying... which won't be fun.
 
I came across a weird camera glitch tonight and I was wondering if anyone else had noticed it. It VERY early in the game so if you've played an hour or so nothing will be spolied
During the first boss fight when you are actually fighting Poseidon when he thrusts his trident into the ground the camera was in bird eyes view mode for the whole duration. I couldn't see Poseidon and I just had to guess when to dodge. I was getting really frustrated and didn't know what the hell was going on. I eventually beat it and then watched a video on youtube and saw that my camera angle was definitely F'd. So I played through it again and all was well. Did anyone else experience this? I just thought it was weird.

The labrynth is not near the end. And the guy is right above.. you can only use the godly possessions playing through on the level of the game you have already beaten or below.



I beat the game the day it came out without any guides or walk throughs because there were none. I'm playing through now on Titan to finish up the rest of my trophies
 
finally got my copy and so far its lived up to the hype and then some. my only gripe right now is the skins situation. still havent gotten my email yet for either.

So I got my Amazon code for the Apollo skin, I entered it into the PSN account management but when I download and install it nothing shows up in game under costumes...

Whats the deal?

I am pissed I put in my code long before the game released. I beat the game the day it came out .. and here it the 18th and still no email or code.

Does anyone know who to contact about this. I put in a code I traded from someone last night .. works perfect and shows up on my game immediately.

With the complexity of the entire boss fight (moving ground + grounded character + camera angles), I'm not surprised there might be a bug or two that slipped through.
 
I don't know this has been mentioned yet but I found a weird bug.
After defeating Cronos you run into Aphrodite again, if you do the sex game it'll pan to the two girls, except this time one of the girls is missing and they're out of sync (2 sec delay) whenever they speak.

Has anyone experienced this?
 
Well titan difficulty is going well. I just finished beating
cronus, and then Hephaestus. I dont know why but i think Hephaestus is cool. Maybe one of the cooler things to see during the whole gameplay. Especially when you first meet him and see him doing his thing in the background after you get done talking to him. The Cronus battle is cool too. So far Hades was the hardest boss for me, along with Posiden. Hercules was pretty easy, along with the dude with the fast shoes.

Right now im not sure what weapons i should be using my orbs on most. I think i have the blades 1 away from max. I have the lion gloves to the 2nd level, might want to level those up more since i didnt get to the
scorpion boss yet. Though im not sure if them being more powerful help when punching away that special rock on its legs.
Helios head is max. Any opinion on which weapons are the best, especially against
zeus
....because i feel like im going to have a hard time against that boss.

My throughts on Titan Mode
3 parts gave me real trouble. The first boss, the 3 Trials (The 3 Trials) [The 3 Trials] and the fight involving the Flame Cerberus/Satyrs. Seriously, fuck you Satyrs to hell, okay? The boss fight with Zeus, while giving me a few headaches was actually pretty fun and interesting. I died about 17-18 times between both parts, but I always felt I had his number sorta.

Oh, and my thoughts on possible DLC:
It's going to happen.

Yes you can only use the Godly Possessions on difficulties that you beat or easier.... but when you use them- does it restrict against getting achievements like using the skins do?

I had a different one where
the handmaiden with bigger boobs and darker skin was gone and the other handmaiden was just standing there rubbing air and was just pushed down after the sex was finished
. Not sure what caused the glitch.
 
I never had that happened. This game seems like it has a lot of weird glitches.

I got both of those weird glitches. Though the girl one worked fine the first time, but I got it the second time.

Right? Now I can't even redeem the code because I keep getting some retarded error: "Please update your country info." I've tried switching countries on their site, deleting the server cache and signing back in, even tried updating my info for the PSN account and nothing works.

What fucking tools.
 
Probably a bit more than halfway done with the game. Trying to take my time and enjoy the scenery, something I didn't do enough with Arkham Asylum (too much time in detective mode, too) and am having a blast. Got the blades at max, and just got the 4th weapon and really like that one. This game as totally been worth the day one buy.

God of War, I agree, but Batman AA? I disagree... there's nothing to see! If you look carefully, most of the file cases show the same pictures. I'm almost always in detective mode :lol: The only scenery is entering/leaving the remote batcave...

In GoWIII, i used Helio's head and trying to unlock all of the secret walls/arts. I press R1 on every object so far. I even tried to zoom in/out and scroll left/right to find hidden clues/messages...
 
I think I may try and bash through Normal mode with Dominus and all the Possessions On this weekend (I haven't played Normal, just Easy and Hard). I wish I could use them for Chaos Mode since it'd just be for fun. I think I can beat Normal mode in under 6 hours. I just wish I could skip the damn cutscenes. Heck, you can't even skip the credits.

It's kind of disappointing to me that you only unlock 1 skin in-game and the rest is DLC :\

It shows the way in which gaming is going. GoW 1 and 2 had a ton of skins once the game was beaten. Now.. just one? Disappointing.

the molten cerberus + satyr fight after the labyrinth on hard is making me pretty mad. It is seriously one of the hardest things I have ever tried in a video game.
 
Just beat the game. Wow, what a fitting end...

Two questions:
1. So was Althena infected by something from Pandora's Box? She said Zeus was infected by fear, so could she have been infected with greed? She really wanted Kratos to give her Hope... I figured she was always on Kratos' side but that wasn't the case.
2. After the credits, we can see the blood stain lead off the edge of the cliff... I don't know what ot make of that. Are they trying to show that he ultimately did throw himself off the cliff (as the first game started) or that he's still alive?

Satyr are those things that jump all over the place and use that pole with blades on each end, right? If so, I hate those damn things... they're so fucking annoying. It sucks since they're fast, nimble, and can block/go through your attacks at any time. I can't give you any advice though since I only beat the game on God mode.

They definitely made the platinum harder in this game than they did in the GoW Collection. I'm seriously considering skipping the platinum in this game. I don't think I have it in me since I died so much.

I don't think I have it in me to get the platinum. God mode kicked my ass enough.
 
Yeah... thems the ones. I learned you can
use a gorgon soul to freeze them and smash them... only problem you can't control the summoned soul... and 70% of the time it attacks the bigger and un-stone-able molten dog. It's a pain. I have probably died 60 times on this one part.

Yeah, and you dont even get a skin from beating the challenge of olympus like you would have in past games. Besides a trophy, is there any reason for me to actually beat the challenge of olympus?

I keep seeing people say it takes 5 days to get your code for the pre order skins. I entered mine on the 15th, so hopefully ill have my codes on saturday. I really hope so, i want to be able to play through it again with these skins.

either. Dodge out of the way and string the combo together with arrows. It took me a while- but I did get it this way.

When I got to the begining of the Labyrinth, I saved right away. I am trying to get aMAZEd on my first playthrough. I died a lot in the room with the spiked floor, but everytime I die- I quit and reload. Don't start from a checkpoint. If all goes well, I will get that trophy on this playthrough.

I was highly annoyed that I missed a posession. I try to find EVERYTHING. Right now, I am working on maxing everything out, getting out of the laybrinth, and things of that nature.

IMO, beating the game on Titan mode is the hardest trophy. aMAZEd seems bitchy, but doable.

Aphrodite's treasure is being her bed. I saw a sparkle, and was drawn to it, haha. Helios's sheild is near him after you behead him.

1000 hit combo video tutorials can be seen here. I tried the first video last night when i got to that part in the game. Got to 625 hits and then missed a few attacks so my hit counter reset. :bomb: I didnt know going through the labyrinth without dying was a trophy. Makes me wish i saved a new save when i went through the game the first time on easy. Now ill have to do that all over again.

Thanks for the 1000 hit combo tips (both of you), I'll have to try them out I guess. It doesn't look like it'll be easy as they were in the first two games.
 
I got the 1000 hit by using the soul rip method fairly easy. Only trick is that it pushes you back some, so every 3rd use or so scoot up a bit and do it again before your counter resets.

I finally beat that molten cerberus POS on hard. Here is my guide...

Round (head?) 1 - Just use cestus (hopefully maxed out) and wail on the dogs backside until you get an O prompt. If it charges, roll and repeat. You can get past this without getting hit.

Round 2 - FORGET THE SATYR. Try to keep the dog between you and the satyr and just pound on it with cestus until you get the O prompt.

Round 3 - you may be low on health. That's OK. SPAM the spartan shield magic attack... over and over and over again (don't forget to mash O for arrows). You should get the last O prompt on the dog. Kill it and you get some health. Then just grab the satyrs and one O battle should kill them (weak after all that magic).
 
I just read for the labyrinth trophy, if you die you dont have to start all over. Just quit the game and reload the auto save file. But be sure not to restart at last check point otherwise it will save over the auto save with your death. This should make it a lot easier.

PS if you didnt see it yet, when you get a platinum trophy you unlock
a website. It looks like the meter shield on the right fills up as people get the platinum trophy. So i want to get this trophy before that fills up, in case there is any kind of reward. ;)
