God of War III -- Gen. Discussion
I didn't know about the Labyrinth trophy until after I beat the game (since it's hidden, I didn't look it up). Bah, I wish I had known about it though.. bah!

Thanks for the 1000 hit combo tips (both of you), I'll have to try them out I guess. It doesn't look like it'll be easy as they were in the first two games.
Yea, these are the only two trophies I missed, for the same reason you described.. I thought the hidden ones would all be story related and didn't want to spoil it for myself.
I don't know this has been mentioned yet but I found a weird bug.
After defeating Cronos you run into Aphrodite again, if you do the sex game it'll pan to the two girls, except this time one of the girls is missing and they're out of sync (2 sec delay) whenever they speak.

Has anyone experienced this?
havent gotten to that yet but i did go through a wall in
hades realm. the spot where that odd tree is in. i was jumping around looking for hidden areas and went through a wall and fell for a while until i finally died.
Doesn't answer me at all.

Yes you can only use the Godly Possessions on difficulties that you beat or easier.... but when you use them- does it restrict against getting achievements like using the skins do?
no it doesn't

Well. I was doing really well until I had to kill a cerberus with satyrs. My god. It is such a pain in the ass. Anyone have any tips?

ATTENTION!! for all of you who are waiting for your preorder codes to be in your email. I just got off of the phone with customer tech support at Sony and they said NO ONE has received them yet. That they are supposedly emailing them out in waves since the release of the game.

So I guess people like myself who submitted my code weeks before release of GOW III, and beat the game the day it released.. have to wait patiently. He gave the 5 day bullshit from the time I submitted it, but then when I told him when I submitted it he withdrew that and said 5 days from release date.

I asked if they were doing anything for the inconvenience to thousands of gamers who this is effecting and rudely he said if you wait you'll be getting it. haha
I just read for the labyrinth trophy, if you die you dont have to start all over. Just quit the game and reload the auto save file. But be sure not to restart at last check point otherwise it will save over the auto save with your death. This should make it a lot easier.

PS if you didnt see it yet, when you get a platinum trophy you unlock
a website. It looks like the meter shield on the right fills up as people get the platinum trophy. So i want to get this trophy before that fills up, in case there is any kind of reward. ;)
Whoa! Thanks for the tip. I figure I'd have to start over from the very beginning.
Well. I was doing really well until I had to kill a cerberus with satyrs. My god. It is such a pain in the ass. Anyone have any tips?
Are you talking about the Cerberus that's on fire? If so, on God mode, the best thing I found was to grab the dogs he spits out and kick them. Those dogs explode so it's not a good idea to let them get too close to you. If you grab and kick them, Kratos will automatically kick them towards the Cerberus or Satyrs (which damage them, however little).

BTW, is Amazon sending skin codes now? I got a $10 gift voucher towards any videogame purchase but no skin code yet. I didn't even know about the $10 GC.

Ok need some info on the costume codes guys.

Are the PSN codes they mail to you tied to your PSNID? Or, can I make a bullshit psn account, get the code e-mailed to me, then use that code on my main (nonbullshit) PSNID?

I got the aMAZEd one on God difficulty. It was pretty easy... didn't even flinch or come close to dying. It only took like 20 minutes to do, too. Luckily, I kept that save.

I kept getting my ass handed to me when that damn room was turning. I got past round 1 fine, but round 2 owned me. The sirens would scream and I couldn't move... and.... spike death. Over and over. I had to quit and reload every fucking time too! ugh.

I've got some saves all over on Titan. My goal is to go back just before... die a bunch... get offered easy... and go from there.

how the fuck do you do the
counter against a centaur ( when the directional key comes up) i keep trying it and i have only been able to do it once by luck.

I had the code e-mailed to my main account, but then I made an alt. account to test if the PSN code would work on others. It did. Didn't actually redeem the thing yet, but it did take me to the download screen, so it was entered successfully on the alternate.

Do you try to fight the monsters? I don't. I just jump and use the air evade (via Hermes' shoes) and let the spikes do the killing (since it's an instant kill that way). I only take a few shots every now and then. The only enemies you actually have to kill are those flying screaming things (they're easy with the Cetus or Blades of Exile if you have them leveled up, keep pounding away, and if they get airborne, jump and do the L1+O thing to bring them down). And you actually don't have to kill them, as soon as the flying things come, just grab on and don't let go (you can hang on them as long as you want, as long as you don't jump off).

That's a good idea. If you go to the save just before the first one and die a lot, you should be offered normal and then you can go on playing it on easy.

You mean the joystick ones (where you have to do half circles)? They're actually pretty damn hard... I didn't get the hang of them until I got near the end of the game...

The only advice I can give you is that you have to complete the displayed motion only. So if you just complete a circle in the right direction, it should count. Another thing is, you can when he's about to do it since he'll raise his staff in the air and charge at you... keep an eye out for that.

I actually don't think there were that many of those.. most of the QTEs are button presses.

good to know. i was worried something like that may be in a boss battle. guess they decided to simplfy things some because even on titan mode the game feels a bit easy.

Thats a great idea. I figured i would replay the whole game again on easy to get this. Ill do it this way now. But where does the trophy start?

Also for those who got the email for their skin code, whats the emails name, and whats it say in the subject?

Did you know that on the part you were stuck on that
You could use Hades' Blades soul magic using the Gorgon to freeze the Satyrs?
because I certainly did not.

KingBroly, I did know that. Only problem is
you can't control where she aims... and you only get two casts, even with maxed out magic. I tried that method forever and never did too well... I could always get the first one. But when there are two
... all bets are off.
Right? Now I can't even redeem the code because I keep getting some retarded error: "Please update your country info." I've tried switching countries on their site, deleting the server cache and signing back in, even tried updating my info for the PSN account and nothing works.

What fucking tools.
Same thing was happening to me. I fixed it by going into my actual PSN account and updating my country and address.

Edit: I see you've already done that.. I don't know then. Changing the info in my PSN account fixed it fine. Googling the problem I see that it's a big problem people have for new accounts created for the costumes.

Yeah, I had to create a dummy account to redeem the actual skin I want, since I didn't see their fucking idiot disclaimer beforehand and redeemed one I didn't want first. Would have been nice if they popped up a message warning you about it, but that would require intelligence.

It starts after
you get Boreas thing (the ice stone?), solve the hanging blocks puzzle which ends up killing Daedelus (the hanging guy who built The Labyrinth). I forgot the exact sequence but after that, you do some stuff which opens up a side of one of the blocks and Kratos flies inside one of the blocks... that's the start of The Labyrinth. You'll know for sure because there's a save at the very start of the stage and the save will say The Labyrinth. The end is when you ultimately get to the top of the blocks with Pandora (just before Kratos jumps back down to Hades)
. If you're confused, check IGN's guide, it's got lots of pictures.

Of course, you have to die and get easy mode BEFORE you get to that save. And then go back before that save and re-do everything on Titan mode (that's not gonna be fun...).

Got my ultimate edition from amazon today.

The chest looks pretty sweet, fits just right on top of my 360 right between the vent holes without covering them up.

Im dying to play it but holding off till Im done with mass effect 2 since I just got going on it.

Just wish they would have put the soundtrack on a real cd and the documentary on a dvd, even if they were just in cheap sleeves it would have been alot better than fucking downloadable stuff. I like having the real thing.

But I wont complain much as this is a cool CE for once and not just yet another steelbook, with a throw away artbook and a bonus dvd thats only 7 minutes long where the developers are jerking themselves off at how great they are.

You can actually redeem the actual PSN code on your main account if you want to, though. I'm in on a gameshare that has all of the preorder skins linked to it.

IRHari was just asking if the code you register on godofwar.com/skins is tied to the account you registered it with. I clarified that it isn't. The actual PSN code is just e-mailed to your account that you registered the Costume code with, but can be redeemed on any PSN account. So, you can theoretically make an alternate account and register the code on the God of War site with that alt. account, but still use the PSN code on your main account when it's finally e-mailed to you. Hopefully that makes sense.

I just beat my first play through... the credits are rolling behind me. I am not sure how I feel about the ending... I think I am disappointed...

EDIT: I am not sure what to think of the after credit scene.

It is a pain. I was using the Exile blades magic to get the health quickly when theres copies of him. But then you end up just getting overwhelmed.
I actually don't think there were that many of those.. most of the QTEs are button presses.
i figured out why i couldnt pull those off. in the previous games you did them with the right analog stick but for some weird reason now theyre done with the left. i dont get why theyed change it like that but whatever now i know.

I'm up to
the harpoon Helios part
on Titan and so far, it's been pretty easy. Only
Poseidon
gave me trouble. I beat
Hades
on my first try.

But I know it's only gonna get worse...

And I still need that damn Hitman trophy (the collectibles one is easy).

Beat it.

The Zeus battle wasn't so bad once I figured out what to do. I think the time I beat it I actually had full health. I was scared to death I was going to mess up a QTE at the end though. I think the molten cerberus/satyr fight is the worst thing in the game.

Now I need the labyrinth trophy and the challenges. How are the challenges on this one? Compared to the other two?

I really appreciated how every weapon seemed useful in this one too.

EDIT - and wow. Game is super easy on easy. Just beat the labyrinth in one go.

im on the cerberus and satyrs fight.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The worst part is the fucking flying cut scene triggered before i could save after beating the labyrinth. So now i cant play this game unless i get past this battle without having to do that shit over again. Because if i play a different save my auto-save is gunna be overwritten.

Its not even a boss fight, how ridiculous is this game when a stupid little fight like this is harder than half the boss battles. I stopped and am going to try to get past the last labyrinth part again so i can save my rage of whatever it is for the stupid dog fight.

good job I'm working on mine now.. just have to get a few simple ones I didn't do on the first run through now I'm doing Titan mode and I'm in Tartarus
The challenges are a bitch! So far I did 3...
haha I haven't tried all of them yet.. but I did two of them just focking around in 5 minutes .. really easy ..

Flame are you in on the gameshare for GOW.. people still being added? I'd like to

I'm going through the game for the first time on Titan. Compared to a friend, it's not that hard for me considering I went through the previous two games on their hardest difficulties back on the PS2. I've just beaten
Herc
and gotten a little over 20 deaths, half of which were against
Poseidon
as I re-learned the game. I missed up terribly on the Godly Possessions, only getting two so far (Eagle and Plate Guard).

Assuming that I've most likely missed over half of the upgradable items thus far, are there more then the amount required scattered around like the previous games? Also, can I be expected to fully upgrade everything by the end of the game? I've heard that in order to do so, it's best to be on easy for more orbs, and to grab almost every chest in the game. Since I have to make another playthrough for the god items, I guess it really doesn't matter, but it would be nice to know.

Well I'm playing on Titan as well.. I'm at the Huge Ass Scorpion you have to fight in the caverns and I have everything maxed but two..thats the last cestus upgrade and the last claws of hades upgrade so it might be possible.. I'll update when I beat it again..

I went through on easy first just to see the game in its entirety. Now is where I get my cussing out because some of the parts are ridiculous.. Hence the first big block you land on down there you have two big ass I dont know what you callems with the spiked ball they shoot straight out or bash down on you.. beat them then you have a cyclops and a another one of those .. beat one of those and I think 4 more of the ball guys show up .. haha

I didn't think Titan Mode was that bad except for 4 parts
Poseidon, 3 Trials, Flame Cerberus, Zeus (somewhat)
. I died quite a few times, but only those 4 parts gave me a bit of trouble, and to be honest, the last one didn't give me as much trouble as I thought it would.

I'd hate to see what Chaos Mode throws at you, though. That 3rd part seems like it'd be a nightmare.

Beat it on normal last night and will probably try to play through again this weekend. Quite a ride this game takes you on. Didn't see that ending coming.

I played through on Titan and maxed everything out the first time through. It is very doable, but it is pretty close. By the end I had about 4 - 5k orbs "left over"... so if you miss some upgrade items you will be cutting it really close, since their empty chests (after you get all the upgrades) are worth 1K orbs each. There are more chests, but it didn't seem as many extra as in the previous games. Of course, on my first time through I could have missed some well hidden ones.

It's much easier to get red orbs if you find the eyes/features/horns ones ASAP (since then, those chests give out red orbs). On my first play through, I had 10000 spare orbs and this time, I should have even more left over as I found a few chests I missed.
