God of War III -- Gen. Discussion
The

fight...f*cking annoying
Heh, that boss glitched on me and I got my 1000 hit combo by fast swapping all my weapons. :bouncy:
cmon...anyone got a phantom of chaos code i could trade for? ive got the apollo code.
I've got a phantom of chaos skin if you'd like to trade?
Oh and just to confirm....i could NOT use my alternate skins except on the difficulty i already beat OR any difficulty lower than the level i beat. AND it clearly stats you can NOT earn trophies while using these skins. So the whole gamestop skin for maxing out weapons wouldnt work anyway.

Just checked didnt get my skin code yet.
Um so do it like me and beat it on Titan then you can use them whenever you want... same goes for all of the godly possessions... you can only use them on the difficulty you beat already.. And some of those are just as beneficial..

and like the other guy I maxed out weapons without using the skin on the first play through

I only have to do one thing to get the game's Platinum: Beat it on Titan Mode. I just
Got Hades' soul
so I'd say the hard part is over until I hit
The Labyrinth
.

For the most part, the Challenges of Olympus were pretty easy. I think the one where
I had to break 30 pots in 15 seconds was the hardest because of the hit detection; those pots are too low
. I had to retry about 15-20 times on that one. Every other one I did in under 10 tries; only 2 of which were over 5.

That was easy to me .. (the pots) theres a sequence .. and you swipe then it bashes the groung out in front of you and crushes them far away.. I did it in 3 tries I think.
I haven't received any of my three skin codes to any e-mail address...
yea that'd be me too ... it's pissing me off haha I beat the game the first day.. got it at midnight and was done after noon now I wanna play with the skins:bomb:
I got one.
Are these normal PSN codes like I have been hoping for? I entered three accounts in hopes that three normal PSN codes would come and can be entered on my main account.

If so, I should have all the skins (whenever Sony decides to email me them...) :whistle2:D

I used Square Square Triangle.

Did it on my second try after I got a feel for the layout. Really disappointed at the ease of the challenges... hell, Titan mode in general was a bit too easy, but I think I would be in the minority thinking that judging from all the internet comments about difficulty.
I finally got my skin code. Now if only I could remember the other two dummy e-mail addresses I used for the GameCrazy and GameStop codes...
I need to find my GS card so I create a dummy account and redeem it. So stupid they set this shit up that way, but at least there's a workaround.

Haven't played it too much yet. I'm near the finish (I think) of where the demo took place. This game is pretty fucking incredible! I love the voice of Hades. Very deep and rumbling. The lighting and textures are phenomenal. Probably won't jump back on it 'till Friday when I go looking to finish it.
If you haven't played the first two, you should be fine. There are references to the past games but they give you a enough info for you to go on.

But if you haven't played the first two, you're missing out. The first two games are amazing, even to this day. I would definitely recommend you play the first two before part 3 because the overall story for this series is amazing.
See, this is the problem I always get stuck in. I want to know the story/get the full experience, but I just do not have the patience to play through the first two games of a franchise just to get to the third. I've tried that with numerous games over the years and I almost always end up losing interest halfway through and giving up.

This is the wrong place to post this, however I also posted this i nthe right place (the gamesharing thread). I am posting it here, because I would rather give people in this thread first dibs- if I do decide to do this.

I have the God of War 3 Ultimate Edition and ALL skin codes plus some 7-eleven items.

Combat Arena w/ 7 Unique Challenges (From the Ultimate Edition)
Trilogy Documentary "Unearthing the Legend" (From the Ultimate Edition) (can be uploaded)
Trilogy Soundtracks (From the Ultimate Edition)
God of War "Blood and Metal" EP (From the Ultimate Edition)
Dominus Skin (From the Ultimate Edition)
Apollo Skin (From Amazon.com preorder)
Phantom of Chaos skin (From GameStop preorder)
Forgotten Warrior skin (From GameCrazy preorder)
Morpheus skin (From 7-eleven)
7-eleven God of War theme (regular)
7-eleven God of War theme (dynamic)
7-eleven background pack 1 (PC)
7-eleven background pack 2 (PC)

I am not sure that I am gamesharing yet... but would there be interest in this if I was?
That's disappointing
Really disappointing as that was the only reason I got the CE.
FYI you get 78 songs total (71 from the Trilogy soundtrack and 7 from the metal album.) The metal zip file is about 65 MB and the trilogy zip file is 300 mb.

I wish they were on CD's like in Europe though. Downloading them just isn't as nice...

Though, the art book that is included is AWESOME!

Ouch dude, did you not realize there would be no physical CD copy? I mean, you could have saved a lot of money and just torrented the soundtrack since it was only going to be digital anyways.

So yeah, what is the deal with the skins? Are we allowed to redeem them all on one PSN account? I have the Amazon and Gamestop ones.
I am not sure that I am gamesharing yet... but would there be interest in this if I was?
I'd be interested
I'd be interested
So far I have two people interested, plus two for myself. I am leaning towards going through with it.

About 5 hours in and have loved every minute of it.

This game just keeps getting better and better.

One of my favorite parts so far...
Mashing Hercules' head into a bloody pulp.

Alright. I started playing this game at about 2:30 this morning and I got all the way up to where you gotta do that Guitar Hero-esque timed button press musical bullshit.

I got up to maybe the last note the one time and fucked it up. Then I tried it about another 12 times after that I couldn't get past the damn thing, so I gave up for the night on that part after running back to the last save point.

The QTE things I don't mind, but I ALWAYS sucked at Simon and more recently Guitar Hero, so it would appear that if I can't get by that one stupid part that I'm going to be selling my copy of the game. My buddy got by it the other night after 2-3 tries, but I just fuckin' hate puzzles like that, especially since it's longer than 4-6 notes.

Total bullshit.

Yeah that kind of thing doesnt belong in God of war. Plus it looked ridiculous having the PS3 button icons in the actual world. If anything just have your friend beat it for you. I beat it on the first try. But then again i was playing on easy. Its not that long, just try to memorize it so you are prepared what button to press next.

You shouldn't have to look at the controller to press the cuttons. You should know X is on the bottom, O on the right [] left, and ^ top. With that said, use both hands. One hand over [] and X, and the other over O and ^. That is how I did it. I got it on my second try. They are pretty lenient with when it can be pressed too.

Keep pushing! That is the only part that I encountered like that. I am around 7-9 hours into the game.

It looked sooo rediculous, lol. It was the only questionable thing in the game for me- but it wasn't too bad.

You think there are more/less notes depending on the difficulty? I didn't even think about that.

I was wondering if the 'notes' actually repeated themselves exactly. The only things I found myself really doing wrong was either pressing the buttons too soon or not pressing both buttons when a two button combo needed to be pressed.

It's too bad PS3 games aren't like PS2 games, in that I could just copy my buddies' save file over to a flash drive and then copy it to my PS3 to be past the damned musical bs already. I think that's how I got past a particularly hard part in one of the prior GOW games. LOL

I agree... if there was one part of the game I absolutely didn't like, it was this surreal 4th wall breaking mechanism. It's not even like they tried to make the buttons fit in with the scenery, they looked like they were ripped right off of a PS3 controller.

Finished the game today and loved every minute of it. Another Titan battle would have nice though.

Disappointed in the way they handled the costumes (would have been nice to have more to unlock) but I guess we just live in the age of shitty pre-order bonuses and dlc. Speaking of which, if anyone has an extra Phantom of Chaos code, I'd gladly trade my Apollo code for it.

i would be very, very interested.
Christ, their shitty site is soooooooooooooooooo slow I can't redeem the GS skin. Just sits there loading forever.

Sigh.
Same, I haven't been able to redeem my other GS code yet.

Sucks, I really want it.

Hmm got a newsletter email from Mt. Dew today that had this in it.

"Content is exclusive to 7-Eleven until 05/01/10" Hopefully this means that this stuff will end up on the PSN sooner or later.

Any tips on beating hades on titan difficulty? The first phase i can get past pretty easy. Sometimes he hits me cheap, but i get past it. Its the 2nd and 3rd parts that give me trouble.

I put my codes in a few days before release, i still havent gotten an email yet. :(

It took me a few tries (at least).

What I recall...
just play hit and run the first round. The second round is when I used most of my magic (spartan shield thing) to wail on him. Then you rip the first piece. Use this to kill all the hands you can to get extra health if needed. The third round, hit and run again. Jump over his shock wave when he lands and just roll away from his attacks. Fourth round is when he calls out spirit skulls. I used my RAGE power here. If you dont have it, just block the skulls. I get fuzzy after this... I think there is another flesh rip here, same as before. I know one round he calls ghosts cerebus... just use your shield to block them. They attack once and disappear. Then his chains go in the ground.. just run around so they miss and end this run near him to attack when it is all said and done. After this round, I think is a "save" point in the battle and the rest is easier anyways.
