Grammy nominated King Diamond screams "Metal Heads Unite!!"
hey hows Daath? i only heard the song War Born so far and i liked it.
Check out their album "The Hinderers".

A festival is being set up by the MDF promoters for folks in NYC, it's called Auditory Assault Festival. Here's the lineup so far...

Brutal Truth (New York)
Gadget (Sweden)
Sayyadina (Sweden)
Pigsty (Czech Republic)
Jig-Ai (Czech Republic)
Kill The Client (Texaas)
Total fucking Destruction (Pennsylvania)
Defeatist (New York)

I picked up Kreator's new album. Came out to $13 and some change. I got no problem spending money on it though. The album is great. I can't wait for the U.S. tour. Speaking of the tour, does anyone know when tickets go on sale?

When I was at the record shop I noticed fucking Saxon has a new album. I can't believe they're still around. Has anyone heard it?

Still debating about going, you? If I do go I hope tickets don't sell out, I'll probably get them at the doors. Also, the show starts at 4:00, wow.

I hear ya. So many great shows, so little time and money. I'm pretty much going to MDF and that Pentagram show, and maybe some small house shows now and then.

Can't wait to see these guys live again once Mike's probation is over.

I've had my Kreator ticket for about a month now

I've had Saxon's new album for over a month now, my favorite of their's in a long time. It borders on Power Metal, but it's rock solid Heavy Metal.

Nice! Cool posters in the back too:)

Does the Saxon sound like cheesy power metal?

Not at all, just a couple of tracks that have some touches of Power Metal (I really don't like PM, btw). The album opener (Battalions of Steel) has the ocassional burst of choir chanting harmonizing with the guitars and another song (Valley of the Kings) just has an epic feel to it. After that I can't remember any PM-esque tracks.

Even those two tracks are solid Heavy Metal. I can think of one song that has a fucking awesome riff (Demon Sweeney Todd), a couple that are very hard rock (Crime of Passion, Protect Yourselves and Hellcat) and some standard rock tunes (Live To Rock and Slow Lane Blues).

It's an album I'd buy, probably their best work since Innocence Is No Excuse.

Hmm I might check it out.

Not bad. I don't think I'll spend 10 bucks plus on it. If I see it used down the line I might pick it up.
I'm so glad I decided to give Running Wild a second listen :bouncy:
Running Wild is awesome. Black Hand Inn and Death or Glory FTW! They were pirates before it was cool

Black Hand Inn is very good, probably my favorite of their's. My other favorite was Branded and Exiled. Only album I'd say I don't care for is their debut Gates to Purgatory.

Running Wild is pretty cool. Only album I've heard though is Gates to Purgatory. Some good stuff on that one.

I just heard the new Mastodon single "Divinations" and I love it. It's definetly a different direction for them but they could do whatever they want and I'd love it.

Obituary touring again? Also, I got my tickets to Cynic! Looking forward to meeting the band and hearing the new and old stuff live.
fuck yes, Amebix and Tragedy tomorrow.
I'm probably not going to make it to their show in Philly this week :( Have fun...AXEMAN!
New tracks from Electric Wizard and Wolves in the Throne Room are awesome.
Do elaborate on Electric Wizard! :cold:

fuck. Yes. Running Wild is god damn awesome.
King Diamond has a moustache. That means he's not to be trusted.

At any rate, I decided I've fallen out of the metal loop. I went to the local store a month back, and all the shit looked the same to me. Face-painted, goblet-and-pike-holding, bleeding-woman-with-giant-tits, skulls-and-shit, indecipherable-logo blather. It got even worse when I started looking at the hardcore section.

I left that day with a Dizzy Gillespie/Charlie Parker live album, and a classic by the Cro-Mags. I'm looking forward to Hank Williams III's newest album (Straight to Hell) when it hits my doorstep this week.

Wake me up when Isis gets in the studio, or grindcore does something unique.
thats beacause ur looking in the totally wrong section there buddy, check out john schaffer and his boys in Iced Earth and Demons and Wizards, and D & W also has blind guardian's Haansi kursch
Brian Eno doesn't really fit in with the others (but I should point out his record w/ David Byrne is pretty hypnotically good).
Brian Eno is "metal"!

Iced Earth? Never heard of 'em.
Brian Eno is "metal"!
My, my, in my absence music is not just artificially creating more boundaries, it's jumping between them as well. Kinda like how Avril Lavigne is considered 'punk' and not 'country.' I suppose Agathocles is now a Bebop act as well? ;)

Truth be told, I like what little I've heard of Brian Eno. Just never thought of it as anything close to metal. But an apt description of your friend's band.

Hey Myke which Cro-Mags did you pick up? By classic I'm assuming you mean Age of Quarrel?

Probably. Don't recall, since the post he quoted was from 3/2006.

Sneaky, what was Amebix setlist?

Haha. I didn't even notice that. Kinda weird to bring up an old post like that.

Crim those are some cool patches!

Honestly couldn't tell you, though someone on /mu/ posted it back on Wednesday.

Well, found it:

I didn't go to the Amebix show on Friday in Philly, kind of bummed about it now seeing that setlist. I hope they do a second run of shows, maybe with Hellbastard when they start their U.S. tour.

Did you guys hear about Carcass doing a second tour for the States? Horrible opening bands though, Suicide Silence, Arsis, and Samael.

Iced Earth have been shit for at least two albums, Blind Guardian's last album sucked, and so did D&W's.
