Grammy nominated King Diamond screams "Metal Heads Unite!!"

No - like I said, I skipped out on going to see them play a show in Dayton, OH w/ The Business and some other folks, and that Raybeez died within a month of that show happening.

What's the name of that Indiana festival? Maybe Dudefest or something similar? I *think* a good friend of mine plays in Get Rad, and know he no longer drums for In Defence, so if he's in the former, I may check them out. Otherwise, In Defence is really good hardcore.

Get Rad is awesome.

Also, if you want to know what Sunn sounds like, just wait for your refridgerator to kick on and listen to that.

BAAWVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

Oh ok. I was just wondering if you had seen them before his death.

Yeah, Dudefest 2009. Lineup looks really awesome.

so late on this, but I had no idea the original drummer from Sodom died a couple of months ago.

R.I.P. Chris "Witchhunter" Dudeck

You didn't know he died Crim? They're doing a benefit (I think in Germany) memorial show for him. It's Sodom, Tankard, and other 80s thrash bands. Angelripper only wanted 80s bands to play. There was some controversy because Destruction was going to be on the bill, but one of the members (I think Schmier) got all bitchy because their logo was smaller compared to some of the other bands, and they cancelled their appearence. Angleripper and them apparentely made up because Destruction is back on for the show. I also didn't know that Destruction had a new album put out in 2008. Anyone check it out?

Anyone else into Tygers of Pan Tang? Ridicilous band name but I've been listening to Wild Cat lately and it's awesome. I was finally able to get a hold of it after looking for it for a while. I love all those NWOBHM bands.

Witchhunter Memorial show will have Sodom, Destruction, Artillery, Assassin, Tankard and I think one other band I'm not familiar with.

Tygers of Pan Tang are awesome btw :bouncy:

I am seeing Darkane and Warbringer tomorrow night as they support Soilwork with Swallow The Sun :bouncy:

No, I've never really been to any shows. I've only been to a few and they've been local acts. I'd go to see fuck the Facts, Master, and Grinder. Don't really know the other bands too well.

The first episode of my show for the Spring semester starts on Wednesday, February 18th from 4:00-6:00PM (EST). If you enjoy the stuff I post on my blog, then I urge you to tune in. I'll also start taking song requests soon, leave a comment with a song request and it'll be heard!

TUNE IN using http://broadcast.umbc.edu:8000/wmbc in your favorite mp3 program (I recommend winamp).

If you miss the show, don't worry I'll have the mp3 of the show available to download from the blog. Show your support and tune in! I hope to have more than 2 listeners, haha.

I downloaded a bootleg of Megadeth's first show but I'm trying to figure out the date and location. What was the first gig that Kerry King played at? Was it 2/19/84 in San Fransisco? That's the one I have. I came across another one that had Megadeth's first show as 2/17/84 at Ruthie's Inn in Berkeley. Can anyone clear this up for me? I'm not sure of the one I have.

Saw Cynic last night! Skipped Meshuggah to go hang out with Cynic and got my copy of Focus and TIA signed, along with a pair of drumsticks that Sean Reinert gave me. Very surreal experience, though I must say, Faceless and Meshuggah fans are annyoing as hell.

Dude that's fuckING AWESOME. You got both albums signed, AND some free sticks! :applause:

Wow, good stuff CrimGhost! :cold: Smoke a fatty with'em?

I had mentioned awhile ago possibly going to see Razor in Manitoba. Tickets are only 20 and my friend can get plane tickets for 60 so I think I just may end up going :bouncy:

I live in Berkeley. Its my understanding that this show was at the Berkeley Square which is on University avenue in Berkeley. I have seen Death play there back in the day. I was really depressed when they closed it down.

By the way, where did you get the bootleg? I wouldn't mind grabbing a copy myself.

Ok. So their first show was actually at that place in Berkeley? Then their 2nd show much have been in San Fran. Death? Nice. That must have been really cool seeing them back then.

There were 3 metal clubs at the time: The Stone in San Francisco (they turned it into a high scale strip club which may of closed down. I don't keep up with the strip clubs of SF.), The Berkeley Square (it is now a 'Copy World') and Ruthies Inn (which is now a soul nightclub).

For awhile, the rock scene was looking bleak here but there are some interesting clubs that are popping up in Oakland- they seem promising.

The Death Show was great. I remember Gene Holgan was the drummer; He has a very distinct style of drumming.

Can anyone recommend bands/albums similar to Pentagram, Saint Vitus, and Candlemass? I've been listening to them a lot lately and I'm really getting into it.
Has the new Candlemass leaked yet?
I'm not sure. I just checked out Epicus and thought it was great. I'm going to buy their new one when it comes out.

Anyone listen to Brimstone? They got some power metal/thrash stuff going on with some great harsh vocals.

Solitude Aeturnus is very similar to Candlemass, Witchfinder General to Pentagram and can't think of one similar to Saint Vitus as I didn't like them and deleted all of their stuff right now.

As far as I know, Candlemass' upcoming album "Death Doom Magic" has not yet leaked. It should be very good based on some of the samples I heard on MySpace, the European page of their label.

I'll be seeing Pentagram live next weekend!

Check these bands out Blackout...

Cirith Ungol, Serpent Throne, The Devil's Blood, Witchcraft, Earthride, Orange Goblin, Goatsnake
Blackout, check out Grand Magus as well.
Also good, there more of a Traditional influenced Doom band.

Ok I'll check them out. Orange Goblin is really good. Thanks Crim for the heads up.

Meshuggah shouldn't be on the list at all (both genre and quality). Baphomet may have lots of double bass, but wouldn't categorize them as Speed.

Sodom is way too low on the list.

That list fails. No Razor or Tankard? If they were gonna put one of the big four on top, it should have been Megadeth.

Razor should be on there somewhere, good call.

On an unrelated note, I'm seeing Destruction tonight :bouncy:

Pentagram killed! Bobby Liebling is back and didn't die/fall down/crawl on stage! I have some more full videos, but here's one of the videos I took, everyones favorite song... fuck youtube for degrading the quality

Also, Moonshine was awesome, didn't really get the hometown welcome that they deserve. I took two videos and got some good pics.

Devil's Blood live was pretty cool, reminded me of Coven (70s doom band), Serpent Throne was awesome. Priestess didn't impress me, they were kind of like Torche but more poppy, but the kids sure loved it.

WTF. Why did I not know about this thread?! I had just assumed from the Rockband thread that nobody on CAG (except for a couple) had good music taste.

I had passed over the thread title a few times, I didn't know you guys were just discussing metal.

Tagged.

Hails there is a metal thread on CAG. I wish Pentagram was coming to Ohio. It's great to see they are actually playing shows again! That list is horrible. Where is fuck Venom? How can you have Hellhammer, Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost but not Venom?!?!?

Oh what the fuck! Cynic is playing another set of shows again in the States, BUT they're OPENING for DragonFARCE...I'll be going to the Allentown show, but still...*sigh*
