Grand Theft Auto IV - Gen. Discussion & Info

Ugh, I can't seem to beat The Snow Storm...
I'm fine up to when I get the coke, but then, even with full health and armor, I just can't get past the police on the way to the boat...
Any help other than saying I suck...? All my friends are just saying I suck at this game and they won't help me, because it is an "easy" mission.

I never realized there was a boat. I always just shot the ones in my way and got outside and hopped in a car. Losing the cops was a bitch though as everytime I'd get out of the sphere there'd be 3 more cops waiting. Eventually I managed it somehow.

I just shotgunned my way out of the building and ran to the boat located directly to the right of the exit. It's also helpful in that once you get away, you're already on your way to the mission destination.

I never realized there was a boat either. Take out the police closest to the building, then grab a car and ditch the cops.

I just tried doing the mission where you rob a bank, I got pretty far, until I was supposed to find a 4 door car. Any tips?

I just ran out and grabbed a cop car. If there are too many cops at the first place you should get out, you can keep running to the next station and there will be a little less pigs.

I didn't realize there was a boat either. I've neglected retrying that mission and as a result I couldn't use Little Jacob's service. I'll have to try it again.

This was just one of many frustrating missions for me. After failing the first time I made sure to leave my car right in front of the door. When I came out of the hospital the car had magically disappearred. Luckily I was able to run around the back of the hospital (while the helicopter almost killed me) and eventually get to a car.

The random crap of "oh there was a boat that you can't see and there is no reason to think it's there, but if you happen to go close to the water you will see it and it makes the mission 10X easier" is what I hate about this game. If you were really running from the cops you would stay close to the building and in cover until you spotted a getaway vehicle. Then you would run to it. The game actually rewards you for being stupid and going out in the open.

Just across the street when you get out of the subway, there should be a car. At least for me there was a 4 door truck and I just rammed my way out of the search zone.

Thanks for your help everyone.. I'll try it again, if I don't complete it I think I may be discouraged from playing.. Thats what happened in the previous GTA games... Or i'll just have a friend help soon

I believe there is a 4 door car right when you get out. I'm pretty sure I had a truck too and then just slammed by way through that search zone just like the above poster did.

Is there really a boat? When I did that mission, my friend told me to run out as fast as possible... so me being the stupid person I am, I just ran and didn't kill anyone. Full health + full armor and I survived running through 4 NOOSE cops and 2 normal cops. There was a truck I got into right outside so it was very easy to outrun the cops. By the way, my strategy isn't that great. It'll involve a lot of luck. I got into that truck with my health flashing. I would say I had about 1/2 an inch left on the bar.

I tried the same method the first time but there was a cop with a shotgun that made my car explode. I just killed the cops inside then made a run going right after exiting. Then I ran around the building I was in and found a parking lot with a nice car. Then ran or made it to a pay n spray

I ended up just killing a cop inside his car and taking it. Wasn't as hard as I thought only took me a second time.
Will weapons disappear if left on the ground too long? Like say... days and days.
They disappear after like two or three minutes real world time

Damn...thought there was an achievement for escaping 6 stars. Turns out I was imagining things again, it felt good actually being able to do it, but I kept waiting for the achievement to pop up...

I oddly love how RPGs work like real RPGs... you can launch a missile and have it skid or bounce off things if you know how to angle it.

It can fuck you up too. I've shot an RPG under a car and it spun around under it before going totally 90 degrees from what I originally shot it from.

I'm training myself on how to skid them off walls and floors.

someone said there's an RPG out on a rock outcropping in the water north of the middle island. haven't tried it myself, so don't blame me if you drown ;)

If you have not unlocked the Desert Eagle in the gun shop, you have to knife the gun shop owner and he will pull out a Desert Eagle, but you are too busy killing him with the knife before he can use it. So when you pick up the pistol you still have the same amount of ammo, or a little less, but a cooler/stronger gun.
lol how do you do that?
I heard there are numbers hidden in the city... haven't found any myself yet.
I heard there are numbers hidden in the city... haven't found any myself yet.
I would assume that there would be numbers on billboards and posters and stuff.

the numbers you call are the ones you find written on walls and whatnot... alot like bathroom stalls in real life.

oh and sigh of breath for all those worried about that "kill a rockstar employee" thing... it's viral.

yeah, played in a game today with a guy that had the achievement in a ranked deathmatch game....however as soon as word got out that he had the achievement it was 15 against 1. The whole city was gunning for him, we all got in the same car and tried to chase him down, then he quit the game and logged off live (I tried following him)

I feel sorry for those guys.

Yeah, its not far out into the water. Like, you can see it from the shore and its pretty obvious.

You have to survive for at least 5 minutes with the 6 stars.
You have to survive for at least 5 minutes with the 6 stars.
that's probably the easiest achievement in the game

Well, I feel stupid. I was unable to play for around a week, and I turned the game back on and had that interview with the law firm set up. I kept trying to figure out what was wrong with the suit/tie wardrobe I had been rocking since unlocking Algonquin, only to find (after over an hour) that I had to remove my glasses. That was the problem. Sheesh.

This is the first time I really regret not getting the SE. I really want to put that Greenskeepers song on my Zune for my workout, but it's not available anywhere I can see.

I got the SE last night...

Then we proceeded to have tornado warnings from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm last night, and severe thunderstorm warnings until 2 am, so I couldn't play my 360.

This is pretty good news (atlest I think it is). For those who are nearly complete with getting 100%, you can still have a chance to get your key to liberty city. It's been extended to the 19th. I'm about 70% complete, all stunt jumps done, just finishing cars thru phone thing. Probably will get 100% shortly, before the 19th. Here's the info again:

wow.. am i the only one who DOESNT want this to be the DLC?

i want to see more missions in THIS city.. but if it is.. i can't say that i won't be excited.

in other news.. i have to send my 360 back to M$ because of frequent "dirty disc" errors..

Ok, as soon as I saw this I kind already knew how to react since I've done web design shit. Rockstar probably hired some other company to layout or build their website, and/or had an in-house team already. From there they have art assets and whatnot. Some website art will be entirely brand new or from the art assets. Seeing as the layout of the table is set, this definitely screams to be original art instead of rockstar stuff... on top of that Houser stated not a single percentage of thought has gone into the DLC and he said there wouldn't be any thought about it until the game was released.
