Grand Theft Auto IV - Gen. Discussion & Info
It is part of the story. Do all the missions for the U.L. Paper guy.
Strange; I did all the U.L. Paper missions, and I didn't get it. I did, however, just get it from Brucie. He called me up and told me to call him if I ever needed a chopper, then the achievement unlocked...
J
1) I always just assumed unlocking helicopters would be part of the story, but it wasn't. How do you do that?
It's the ability you get from Brucie (like Jacob's ability to sell you guns or Roman's cab service).
whos should i be doing? i got bernie 2 of the mcreary brothers and phil bill on my radar. which ones are story?
?
?
All of them are. All the Bernie missions are apart of the story until Niko and Bernie agree to stop doing business together and just be friends and chill.
whos should i be doing? i got bernie 2 of the mcreary brothers and phil bill on my radar. which ones are story?
Do the others first, bernie only if you have nothing else to do on the map.

PS I GOT MY 100% KEY TO THE CITY EMAIL!!!! I got to fill it out, print it, sign it, then either fax, scan and email, or send it in the mail within 7 days of the email i got. But that shouldnt be hard, i hope.
I'm wondering why I get nothing but answering machines from Dwayne as well. Have you tried calling him after 12:00 noon? He says he doesn't get up until then. It might be you have to call him during a certain hour.
Just figured it out. Check your emails. You have to respond to Dwayne's email before you can do anything with him. He'll call you after you write back.
Up to you, I wanted the asshole dead. His special ability is pretty useless anyway.
You're right. Looked it up and laughed, just a 1 time use! wtf?!
Yeah the only decision that really matters is
Revenge or money
. Although,
Dwayne or Playboy X
does have its advantages.
Sorta disappointed I killed Dwayne...we could've been friends or something ;)

Put 3 or 4 hours into this so far. I'm digging it a lot thus far. I couldn't get into GTA3 and never played the sequels so I was skeptical but gave it a go as my gaming tastes have changed a ton since early last gen.
You're right. Looked it up and laughed, just a 1 time use! wtf?!

Yeah especially since you get
Playboy's condo and Dwayne as a friend who has a really awesome special ability.

Sometimes all the car chases get a tad bit annoying. I just want to go kill somebody without all the chasing sometimes.

I heard a hilarious conversation by an NPC this weekend. A businessman was on his mobile during the mission where you have to go meet Karen (Michelle). The guy on the phone was all animated and shouting, and at one point said "Eat my ass. I'm getting the promotion, and you're not!"
Yeah especially since you get

I never used that ability once. I should pop the game back in just to see how it works.

Just beat the game, got a couple of questions:

I chose the revenge option for Dmitri. Is there any advantage to the money option other than the $250K? Also, I've heard that I get an e-mail after beating the game that will give me a map to all the hidden packages, stunt jumps, etc... I've saved several times since beating the game but I haven't got any mail. What gives?

Dear Paul:

Congratulations! As the official judging organization for the Xbox LIVE GTA IV Promotion, it is our pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as a Fourth Prize winner!

Your prize is 1000 Microsoft Points!

Booyah! I didn't even remember that there was a contest.

I think the revenge option is better. If you choose the money you
do get money, but instead of Kate? that dies, roman dies instead.
I did this first and i couldnt live with that ending. As for the maps, you have to go to "whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com" on the computer. But the maps are small and pretty useless since you cant take them with you while you go hunting.

His special ability is pretty helpful. I used it a couple of times during missions and his homeboys were great decoys. They work just like the homeboys from GTA:SA.

So there's no way to bookmark that site on the computer or anything? It takes way too long to type that all in. I have also heard that the map only shows the items that you need, not all of them. Is that true? It could be useful in that regard because it's difficult to remember which hidden packages you already have.

Congrats! It was this contest:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/g/grandtheftautoiv/sweepstakes/rules.htm

I got:

Dear Andrew:

Congratulations! As the official judging organization for the Xbox LIVE GTA IV Promotion, it is our pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as an Eighth Prize winner!

Your prize is a twelve (12) month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription!

I don't recall entering either. It was a nice surprise though. I got it like last week but since I don't check my hotmail email, I only noticed it yesterday.

On a side note, I didn't receive the 100% contest email but sent them an email (since I saw that others haven't received their emails according to the Playstation forums) and got back a reply earlier today saying that I was part of their list and to send them the form. Today has been a very good day. :D

All the pics are, are pics and thats it. I just used photos of the same pics that people uploaded to the internet. Then opened a picture program and dotted the ones i collected.

Damn thats nice man. I would rather have 8th prize rather then 4th prize. LOL.

I'm kind of stuck and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I've completed a few of the Pegerino missions and based on walkthroughs I should only have a few more missions with Pegerino (like saving him from the bad deal) and Phil Bell before the final sequence, but right now on the map there are no missions to choose and calling doesn't seem to help either. Anyone have any advice how to get the story moving again? It seems I may need the UL Paper call or something to trigger the Gambiatti or whatever missions to start. I thought I had those missions up once though.

Save a couple times to forward it to the next day and maybe that will trigger a mission.

It's awesome how the places seems to have nothing to do with the coolness of the prize. I'm not complaining, I'm happy to get 500 points. Now I don't feel so bad for picking up the CoD4 map pack several months ago.

Man what am amazing game... I've been renting it from Gamefly the past month and I just love the gameplay. I"m able to play it exactly as I played GTA 3 and Vice City... as realistic as possible... I need to return it to Gamefly and just buy it already.

I did have to look up the Playboy vs D. decision because I didn't want to kill either, though I was already leaning towards playboy when I looked it up... besides he has a 'resident parking' square outside of his place so I assumed I would eventually have his pad... but man no labtop in there.. lame!
Save a couple times to forward it to the next day and maybe that will trigger a mission.
I've done that, but no luck. Maybe I gotta wait until a certain day of the week and I'm not just there yet. I hope it isn't a glitch and I won't be able to move forward.

Holy crap! I just won 500 MS points (3rd prize) from that GTA contest, too! The e-mail went to my spam box, so I'm so glad that I read it before I deleted it!

Congratulations! As the official judging organization for the Xbox LIVE GTA IV Promotion, it is our pleasure to inform you that you have been selected as a Fifth Prize winner!

Your prize is 1600 Microsoft Points!

Another Cager to win a prize from this contest!

i hope they add a casino and a mall in the dlc. they could have a story where roman gets into debt with the casino, so you take over the casino and own it at the end of the missions
most likely the DLC coming will invlolve a new storyline and you won't play as Nico.
nah i doubt they would make us play with a new character.

I'm still loving the game. Only gripe is that the missions need check points. Its annoying to have to treck back across town everytime you fail. There should be a check point everytime you reach the destination.
nah i doubt they would make us play with a new character.
I dunno. Im thinking they are going to do some kind of "Stories" style DLC. New main character, different timeline, new storylines. I hope they add onto the city though. Make the carnival active, new safehouses(especially on the first island you start on), new stores. Maybe even add new vehicles like a tank, or heli with missiles. They need to do something to make free roaming more fun before saints row 2 comes out. ;)

Aight, so I'm on my quest for 100%, just finished the packages and random characters but..

The last encounter with crazy eddie low was nuts! It seemed seriously disturbing the way I got killed the first time. I tried just the baseball bat to avoid the wanted level and was losing, so I run and try to switch weapons only to find out he runs just as fast as i do, turn around, get pinned against a car by his fat arse and he just starts going at me with the knife. :hot: I can't pistol whip him off cuz hes slashin like its his job. And all of this is CLOSE UP with the camera getting close to me since Im pinned on the car. Finally, I died with the slow mo death camera only adding to the effect. Rockstar put A LOT of detail into that character. Seemed freaky real.

Anyway, the second time I came prepared with the shotgun.

If I haven't read this post and checked my junk mail, I wouldn't have know that I also won 500 ms points! You rock shieryda, never would have thought it would be in my junk mail (stupid hotmail )

:applause:Nice. There are so many give-aways for MS points this year. The Summer of Games (or whatever it's called on Xbox.com) is giving 100,000 points away!

I'm pretty sure Saint's Row 2 is coming out far before the first GTA4 DLC.
I'm pretty sure Saint's Row 2 is coming out far before the first GTA4 DLC.
fuck YEAH Saints Row 2 already has GTA IV beat in my book.

Man, the lack of in mission check points is really lessening my enjoyment of the game. Frustrating as hell to have to redo 3/4ths of a mission over and over when you keep dying right at the end.

Saints Row 2 doesn't really interest me (nor did the first game). I'm only casually into these sandbox games, so the setting and story have to draw me in. The gang setting doesn't really do it for me, compared to the mob stories in the GTA games.

Saints Row is a well built game and plays good, but the atmosphere it presents prevents me from liking it at all. Even if people considered GTAIV to have horrible gameplay, the atmosphere makes up for it.

For those who have reached 100%, how long does QUB3D take to beat the high score. Its my last to do for 100% and Im just trying to mentally prepare myself since it looks fairly complicated.

It doesnt take that long. It took me a while since im color blind, and the greens and yellows look almost the same to me. But it wasnt something that took days to beat.
