Carry Me Home just requires that you go into practice and just get as much of it down as you can, particularly the repeating riffs. Yea, Psychobilly Freakout took a bunch of tries, but I kept increasing my score a bit to about 10k under what I needed, then just had a great run and got 12k over what I needed. Misirlou was the same.

Institutionalized, for some reason I can't get the rhythm right on the fast repetitive chords part which is where you need to rack up the points. Plus I seem to randomly do good or horrible on the solos.
 
There was a blurb in Newsweek about the complaining over the DLC prices (check the "Periscope" section of the 4/23 issue). Nothing new under the sun, really, but interesting to see that they mention a (gasp!) online petition receiving over 9,000 signatures, in addition to the mention that Activision declined to comment on the matter to them.

Of course, they snidely mention to those complaining that they're more expensive than iTunes songs by saying "here's a hint: it's interactive." They do followup, however, pointing out the price discrepancy b/w the $40 GH disc on PS2 and the $63 cost of all the XBL songs (assuming they all come to us).

I saw about 10 of them at one Sam's (Monroeville, PA, 20 minutes east of Pittsburgh) on Tuesday, and about 6 or 7 at the Pittsburgh Mills Sam's on Wednesday...they're selling it for $77.88.
 
Finally 5 starred all the regular songs on hard, still have I think 10 of the bonus songs to finish. Not sure if I'll be able to 5 star Six and Thunderhorse.

I am a really good guitarist who can play alot of these song in real life but expert is kicking my ass!

Is it worse than Jordan? (I can't pass that on expert)

I also doubt I'll be able to 5 star a lot of the songs on expert, the later tiers are just insane.

But all the sudden its like.... "Im having a little trouble getting 100% on Jordan on Expert, I can only get 95%! Ergh!" "Really? I got 100% on every song!"

fuck CAG and your ability to learn games so fast...

Guitar Hero is one of the few games that allows for exponential growth in skill based on the amount one plays. I started on the original GH playing medium, and now I'm bored with expert on GHII. Speaking of which, I just sold my PS2 bundle plus a wireless guitar for a cool 90 bucks, so I'll picking up the 360 version ASAP.
 
I went to FYE OOS, Gamestop OOS, come home and check Circuit City and all CC's within 20 miles of me are OOS, Bestbuy OOS.

I want this game bad, it didn't help that there was a kiosk in Gamestop.

Yeah, I was looking to get Lindz one for her birthday and went to Best Buy as well as CompUSA today before work, nada. Then hit up the 24 hour WalMart after work, mas nada.
 
I didn't know it was still hard to find. I took my extra one (RO's shipment after I bought a "leaked" one at Circuit City) back to CC this past weekend. I would have held onto it for someone.


Also, I hate that little shithead that plays the My Chemical Romance song on expert with his back to the TV. I am old.
 
Lucky for me, all the EB and GS around here have it in stock, so I'm gonna go pick it up later today. Hopefully I'll get my 360 back from MS today, as well. :D

You'll be surprised, expert isn't that bad compared to hard. Woman took me forever on hard, but one try on expert. Now I'm stuck on Phychobilly Freakout and Rock this town, without much trouble getting to that point.

FINALLY!! I beat Psychobilly Freakout on Hard last night. Jesus I was stuck on that for ages - then I beat YYZ on my first try. Now I only have 3 more songs on Hard before I try Expert (which I already know I'll never finish). I still have to do Easy yet - I've been doing about a song a night - I just can't bring myself to crank through them because it's not fun at all. I've been getting 100% on all of the songs though so at least all those solid yellow stars look cool...
 
Holy shit, after sitting here sulking all day about not having my 360, I just realized I can take my hard drive and game to my friend's house and still get the acheivments. I'll see if I can't get him to hook up his 360 to the net so my score will be updated. I'm tired of looking at my sig and seeing 360 points for the past week. ;)

EDIT: Also, who said they wanted to compete with me, score-wise? I can't seem to find the post. Whoever it was, send me a friend request. I'm waiting. :D

Beating expert is considerably easier than 5 starring all the songs on Hard if you ask me. The last two tiers of songs on Hard are not easy to 5 star.

Both were a pain in the ass, but 5 starring hard was a little tougher.

I'm trying to 5 star all the bonus songs on hard but Six and Thunderhorse give me trouble.
 
This game is sold out EVERYWHERE around me.

I've been trying to get it for a boust a week and call all the local places, about 6, everyday.

I'm having a GH withdrawl after selling my PS2 version to get this.
 
fucking hell yes. I got to play GHII all day on my friend's 42 inch LCD HDTV. Beat the whole damn game. Why didn't they add an achievement for beating the game in one sitting on expert? :D Last time I checked, I was second only to TheModium on my friends list, and I hadn't completed the last tier yet. I need some competitive CAGs to speak up and challenge me.

EDIT: Also, while the X-plorer has solid buttons and an ok strum bar, the whammy bar and star power sensor fucking suck. Are they all like this?

I guess I'll start tomorrow, I passed all the hard songs on my first try except for one in the last tier which I got 90% through a few times before saving my star power... I don't remember which.

Now that I think about it, 5*ing all the hard songs is going to be a pain in the ass....
 
For those of us not "Yeah, I'm hip, I beat everything on expert without even waking up yesterday!!" I present my post:

I got back into playing this yesterday afternoon (hadn't touched it since I got a real guitar and have been learning to play a bit here and there). I'm still working on 5 starring Medium. A few songs I was stuck on just 4 stars I got on the first try! Some songs, though, like Psychobilly Freakout still whoop me. 3 stars. Who-hoo! ;) I need to stop sucking on FreeBird too.

you're probably much better than me, but i finished expert, 5 starred hard, and have some pretty decent scores up, although a lot of them are from hard. feel free to send a friend request.

I went back to try to 5 star some songs on expert yesterday, got a few more done, a few more didnt go so well. I think I have 20/48 5 starred at this point. That last couple tiers get real tough, 5 starring is going to take a lot of effort and practice.

Yeah, no doubt. The only songs I have left to 5 star, I'm going to have to actually put effort into learning the tricky parts and practicing them. I haven't been motivated to do that yet.
