Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info

Even when I can get it for $40 up front? Listen, I liked Halo 1. I just didn't finish it because the levels were repetitive and it destroyed my short attention span. How can I like something I didn't play (Halo 2)? Honestly, people putting words in my mouth :\
 
Is anyone JUST getting hyped for this?


My biggest hype ever was GTA San Andreas...I remember 1 year in advance going crazy over it. And now Im just getting REALLY hyped with halo 3.


Im almost tempted to cancel my Stranglehold PS3 CE preorder...

Why don't you get a used copy of H2? Though prices might be jacked up now because of H3...

From what I've played of the beta...it seems like H3 will be the best MP experience in the series. It seriously felt like the best of H1 and H2 mashed together. And, I'd have to say...probably 90% of the people buying H3 will be buying it mainly for the multiplayer component. Considering you haven't even played H2, whether or not you liked the MP is going to be up in the air.

But for $40, that's not bad.
 
Wouldn't getting Halo 2 right now be a bit of a waste? The single player is pretty wretched throughout (especially the endgame. Ugh.) and the multiplayer will be outclassed by Halo 3 in every way (right?).

I traded my copy in to Gamestop and with a couple of deals and Edge card, I got like $26 for it. :D

Agreed, for me to take a day off of school would be grade suicide. Not to mention, my friends would never let me live that down if I skipped school for a game.

Also, I don't see why anyone would trade in their Halo 2's (unless you have the regular edition...) I have the LE edition, and I rather keep it as a nice looking video game piece of display in my small as shit collection. I figure it isn't worth selling for a measly 3-5 dollars in that regard. Four years from now, im going to take a look at it and say, "Damn, I put a lot of hours into this one." and be reminded of the good times.

Because I got half my money back after playing it for 3 years and I was able to keep the case.

I don't collect videogames.

i did the exact same for halo 1, as a matter of fact, im playing it as i speak.
 
Is there a way to double check to make sure your gamer tag got registered for the contest? I've not gotten any sort of confirmation.

I was reading the interview with Fran from OXM. She said they can't discuss all the maps until Sept. 23rd (embargo is lifted), she said a map that hasn't been announced was her favorite.

Oh, and I still have Halo 2 Vista if I ever need a H2 fix (which I don't think will happen once I get H3). I can't even play Halo 1 anymore, it's so bad.

Halo 2 had a great SP and even better MP. and yes! you should buy it or youll be saing "wtf's up with this alien dude??? get it and play sp and mp so you can get the true halo experiance. its more than a game its a story. its not like you'd get a book skip the second one and get the third copy. you want to know what halos all about, and I guess this is a sin to say, but i really enjoied halo 2's campaign the same as or better than Halo Combat Evolved. Botom Line: Get Halo 2 so you know wtf's going on!

I honestly liked Halo 2 throughout with the Arbiter and everything--- if the ending wasn't so blue-balling I think it wouldn't have gotten the grief that it did (and has). As far as the selling early, people on epilepticgaming.com tonight were saying that once again Toys R Us broke release at some retailers-- Thats neither here nor there, especially if you're buying it for the multiplayer.

Where are people getting the game for 40 bones? I canceled my pre-order from gamestop not too long ago, as collectors editions of late have been super wack, and I can just watch the stuff on Youtube days before anyway---Figured I'd just walk in to big name retailer on launch day and pick it up.

Unfortunately I don't Zew--- They do a live show every night from 7-8 EST, which is accompanied by a chat room for the people viewing the program, a few of the more reputable guys were saying that they had heard so.

FamilyVideo.com has the regular edition for $49.99 - $5 for new customers (coupon is somewhere in this thread). $0.99 shipping if you don't mind waiting 5 days or so. $50-ish if you get UPS Ground. The LE/CE (which i am getting) is $59.99 - $5 for new customers.
 
I think I am going to pre-order the legendary at Best Buy tomorrow, if still possible, so I don't have to wait for my bestbuy.com order to come in. Then again, I would like to play my new games I have bought over the past few weeks. PW2 is still sealed.

Someone should compile a post with all the available preorders and prices. Im still wondering if I should bite now on a site, and wait a few days, or get it in store.
Target does seem to have the best in store bonus if you preorder; the action figures. Any word on how big those are?

I wouldn't say the second one was wretched. Just not as good as people expected. The only major gripe I had with Halo 1 was the Library. Good lord.

H2's campaign was just more...forgettable than wretched. I enjoyed playing through it, and was pretty much in shock when it ended.
 
I just realized the Halo 3 Limited Console I pre-ordered from GS is supposed to come out next week. Maybe it will be just a Zephyr with HDMI, or maybe MS will pleasantly surprise me?

Anyway, GS.com says pre-orders ship on the 16th, but that's Sunday.

Oh well, I expect to be hearing from that saucy tart Aeris real soon, I guess.

We got the Halo 3 consoles in on Monday, the manufacture date on the system is 8-11-07. I only checked one of the systems though I'm not sure if they were all made then.

Soemone's got to find out if the Halo 360s have the falcon chipset in them. I'd gladly sell my premium to go toward that green, ugly, monster.

I have a memory card and can transfer over my profile and game saves that way.

Alternately, I could get one of those 360 to PC transfer kits, but I haven't heard great things about those.

Beyond that, there's no way to transfer HDD to HDD unless you buy the Elite system and have MS send you their kit (which only works once).

And I'd rather have a matching drive than swap. If it's going to be ugly green, it might as well be all ugly green. Plus maybe they'll use a better/faster drive in these new models? I dunno...

I'm not sure if it's the Zephyr.

They go on sale this Sunday, 9/16 street dated.

Actually, I watched a preview for Halo 3 where they said that Halo 3 will be easy for anyone who has never played Halo's campaign before to pick up, story wise of course.

Thanks! I'll be there with my trade-in (at my local store, of course ehe).

As for the chipset, the box has been showing if it's Zephyr or not. I'm kind of assuming at this point that it is, though.
 
OK so i just ordered a halo 360 does it come with anything else besides the play and charge kit extra? I recall them saying there was more... but never announced what more was.
