what exactly do you guys mean when you say go back later and price match? i also got denied today so what are you guys planning on doing?
Never use the Internet printout. Too easy to fake, plus most PM policies state specifically that they need a print ad.

I'd never try a PM like that at BB without the print ad.
The thing that sucks is unless you get the Sunday paper, you can't get a physical copy of the Target ad. I've had to use my cell phone a bunch although I'll have a printed copy as well.

All you have to do is go to a Target store guest services (customer service) and ask for one.

1) Retail sales fliers
2) Sunday comics
3) Coupons

There's the occasional article or two worth reading, though they're usually online as well as in print.

That's it. That pays for the subscription without question, though if I could get all three of those items via electronic distribution, I'd dump my subscription.

The receipt doesn't specify steelbook, so assuming you go back with the receipt only, they won't have the product to question and they'll just PM it. YMMV of course.

Though, the one issue I ran into with the PM was that it lists "Exclusive Film Cell" across the ad picture for the title, and that gave the CS rep at my BB some pause. I pointed out that BB had their exclusive version and Target had their exclusive version, plus that was the only way Target was selling the BR version, with the film cell.

I may have neglected to mention that there is a non-steelbook version on the shelf, though when they didn't have my pre-order copy from my BB.com order ready, they had to pull a copy. Oddly enough, they picked up the non-steelbook version first and then the steelbook version second.

A few minutes' worth of the conversation with the store manager and she came over to approve the PM.

the .com receipts are so screwy! they don't ever list the price, I don't remember the specific 'description' off hand. My guess is when they process a return/PM, they enter a code on the receipt thru a special .com portal that pulls up the order.
 fixed.

Yours was a .com order too, right Shrike?
It was a .com order, yes. Which they didn't pick, so I just ended up canceling it this morning after they did the B&M sale at the store last night.

They can't do any PMs off of it, all they can do is process the order for pickup and return the order in the return period. It's not a B&M order for the store to do anything with, it's a BB.com order.

To do the PM, they'd return the item and then turn around and do a B&M sale for it, with the PM figured into the mix. Which is why they didn't do the pickup of the order and then immediately return it, since it's quicker/easier to just not pick up the order and have me cancel it over the phone.

Ok, now I follow. Thanks.

I was under the impression this wasn't allowed. All the stores I try this at deny me.

No luck on a price match with Target at my Best Buy -- the lady was aware of the different versions and wouldn't price match the exclusive version.

Since I had to search to find the last remaining Blu-Ray Steelbook in the store and I rather like the look I decided to eat the $6 without any real fuss (especially since she was following BB policy, I was just hoping).
I was under the impression this wasn't allowed. All the stores I try this at deny me.
Whaa??

You should tell them to shove it and give you an ad.

Or just steal the ad they have in their little plastic display you see when you walk in...not joking.

I'm also surprised by the people getting denied. There's really no distinguishable difference between the Steelbook and regular BR besides the obvious casing. There's no sticker or any mention that the Stellbook is exclusive to BB. To my knowledge, all it says is that it has an encyclopedia, which is exclusive to BB.

Some of you have the unfortunate luck that your BB employees, *GASP* actually know about the product they carry and actually care enough to deny you.

Price matched with no problems last night. Halo Legends Blu-Ray Steelbook for $20 is a pretty solid deal. Now I just need a Blu-Ray player...
I don't understand about not PM'ing the steelbook as it costs the same as a regular version.
It may cost the same as the regular non-steelbook version, though it's a "Best Buy exclusive", so Target's pricing isn't a correct match for the steelbook version. Non-steelbook should be a slam dunk for a PM, steelbook might be an issue depending on how they look at it.

The thing I told them about "this is your exclusive version, and Target has their exclusive version and that's the only way they're carrying it right now" seemed to do the trick for me to get the PM on my copy.

this is exactly what I said and I got the response "Well Target's isn't BUNDLED, it's while supplies last and every one of ours has the bonus." or something along those lines.

How long will this Target $20 deal going to last? I want to PM at BB but I won't get my check till like next week. Thanks.

You have 2 days left until Saturday closing.

The time and money spent to drive there and haggle probably already takes care of that $6 or so.
The time and money spent to drive there and haggle probably already takes care of that $6 or so.
Sorry that it's an issue that negates the $6 savings.

You could always try going back to that same BB another day, if it's not an issue to head back there.

got THE LAST copy at my local Best Buy. Allentown, PA

Was on the phone with my buddy when I grabbed the last copy and I told him it was the last Halo Legends copy there. just as I said that 2 dudes heard me and were that Sucks. thats what we came here for.

Oh, well. Good 4 me

I don't know why I bothered pre-ordering for in store pick-up. When I got there they had saved me the regular blu-ray not the steelbook LE. Even though it said on the slip Halo Legends SE Exclusive STEELBOOK packaging Blu-Ray. Luckily I figured this would happen, so when I went in I imediately saw 2 blu-ray steelbooks in the front display, so I grabbed one just in case. Good thing that I did. When I left after switching for the right one that I was holding, I saw that the other blu-ray steelbook was gone. Sold out it seems. This isn't the first time they messed up either. I'm really starting to dislike having to go to best buy.

lol are you serious? someone deleted my post shitting on Halo Legends even though I let people know there was still 1 copy left at my BB since I returned my copy?

lawl.

Was probably because of your reference to "other means." ;)

I sure hope my copy comes today!!!! Damn, BB's shipping is sloooooowwwww. It's literally like 2 hours from my house according to the tracking info, so it should be here today, right? I can't wait to add another steelbook to my puny collection!!!! I Gotta Get 'Em ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whenever something is 2 hours form me, I get it at like 7 at night :whistle2:X

But you should get it today :whistle2:D
Well ... this doesn't seem to be holding its value at all .. but maybe it's just too soon to tell?
There is just a lot of competition on the aftermarket right now. I'm hoping they sell quickly and will become a bit more scarce. At the very least, I'll have a sealed Steelbook to trade if it never moves back to an acceptable profit margin.

Went to the store today and saw copies on the shelf so I didn't bother to pick up my in-store pickup copy. Bought Blu-Ray Steelbook at registers and then took over to customer service to PM with Target. Weird that it required a manager override for only a $6.XX difference? Usually it has to be much greater than that. Also got the refund for the MJ Steelbook from This Is It.

When I was at CS I looked at the bins where they keep the In Store Pickups and I didn't see anything in the bin where my last name was, so I'm glad I grabbed a copy from the floor.

Judging by Ebay, this will not be $50-100 any time soon it's NOT that rare!

My impression is that ALL the Hardcore Halo fans wanted to get this, has already got it. And won't be bidding for a lot of $$$ on Ebay at all!

Whether that's the case 2 years from now. I don't know, but HIGHLY doubt it.

It's only been a week, wait until after the hype for Halo:Reach for it to rise in price.
By then they'll be completely sold out and everyone that missed it will be trying to get it.

This SteelBook will not be worth much in the long run. It was available in the U.S., Canada, Germany, U.K., and France. The only people willing to pay $$ for this are the die-hard Halo fans (most of which already own their copy) or the foreign SteelBook collectors who want this version because of the encyclopedia (only available with the U.S. Best Buy version). Next to This Is It and The Dark Knight this was probably the most printed SteelBook.

Let me guess you missed the boat... so you hope that this steelbook will not be worth much so you will feel better?

This will be a $50+ Steelbook within 2 months from now guaranteed.

That's what I'm thinking too... The Hurt Locker is already worth about $75. Granted it had a much smaller print run than this, but it's still a lot for a BR. I definitely see Halo Legends hitting $50-$75 and The Hurt Locker hitting upwards of $100 in a couple of months.

I bought Hurt Locker steelbook because I wanted it for myself. After seeing the value of it shoot up (and still rising) I am hesitant to open it and watch it...

That's a poor guess considering I already posted that I bought it for $19.99.

I really don't see it going more than $50+ any time.

Die hards should already got it. If not, what the hell is wrong with them?

NON-Die hard probably will not care to pay more at all.
