I got a PS3 Remote, but damned if I can get it to sync up with the system.
i think you have to go in the settings > bluetooth part to let it scan for devices.
I'd consider getting it, after all, I don't want to use my PS3 controller for everything.

Two AA's isn't so bad for me, since I use rechargable batteries for everything.
Let me give you a tip: Rip the stop button out. It's the exact same size and shape as the Play and Pause buttons that surround it on top and bottom and just feeling for the right button GUARANTEES that one will accidentally get pressed. It takes a ridiculously long time to get the movie started again and it pretty much only resumes properly with DVDs (BDs will start all their loading screens, interactive menus, and prohibited user operation trailers).

Now, if they glowed in the dark or were backlit, I would have some way to avoid this, but you either have to watch movies with the lights on or never touch the damn thing while watching one. Nearly every button is a duplicate of another two or three differently labeled buttons. They're so easily pressed that just setting the thing down upside down will turn on your PS3 and you can't turn it off without turning on the TV and switching inputs. Yes, that's right. Pressing ANY SINGLE BUTTON on the remote will turn on your PS3. It's the SIXAXIS problem times 100.
I actually did. I doubt anything will happen but it pissed me off that they put the blame on me by saying, my billing info was wrong, that I canceled or that the item is no longer in stock...it was a fucking preorder and its still on their site.
Basically I have to order it all over again with the new fixed price.

I'm thinking about asking them to keep price that I ordered it at; it wouldn't hurt to ask and the worst thing would be a no. That would be the same as doing nothing right now.

Dammit, I don't get paid til' tommorrow and I won't have funds available til Saturday :/

I hope everything I picked out doesn't go out of stock by then

Edit: I happened to find the thread right after I posted lol

there are various movies that have been hard to find for anything less than ~$27, but with the sale you can get them for closer to $22. i think i'll probably use this sale to finally pick up a few that fit that description. for the movies that are $21.95, most of those are $19.95 on amazon, and with the 10% discount there, they come out to $17.95 whereas the DDD %20 discount gives you $17.56, and for only a 39 cent difference, i'd rather use my amazon prime free 2 day shipping instead of waiting for DDD's free 2 week shipping.

Well, I'd jump on this but I'm more worried about building a blu-ray collection and have no spare change

Samurai champloo complete box set after 20% off is 107.35

Now that is one show I would like to have on BD or HDD. Between the art and the soundtrack you can't go wrong. I used to have a few of the original Japanese episodes in h.246, they looked awesom.

Now with the DD codes I can finally pick up the devil wears prada.

I haven't noticed anything amazing for BR at the DD sale. Casino royale is around $23, ultimate avengers is slightly below everyone else. Children of Men HD/DVD combo is rather cheap and i plan on getting that but nothing else realyl for the HiDef crowd...

Man, I want in on that DDD deal, but I ordered The Mummy Collector's set from them over a month ago with their free shipping option, and still haven't received it so I'm weary of giving them more of my money.

I yelped with joy when I saw Pixar's Cars on the "Coming to Blu-Ray" clip played before the Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl movie on the BD, but I'll be damned if I can find any real concrete release info. Some old news pegged the release date as June 5. That's Tuesday (four days from now) and yet there aren't any reviews and it isn't listed on Amazon's June releases!

BTW, even though the trailer was MPEG2, Cars looked GLORIOUS.

Next up, when does Aladdin, the movie that "sold me" on Blu-Ray, come out? They had an impressive setup at Best Buy and it cycled through some Aladdin clips. You could even see detail in the pencil marks that were missed during cell clean-up!

Wouldn't it still make more sense to go to Buy.com and use the $10 google checkout? I just picked up Batman Begins $10.39 shipped, Blood Diamond $10.39 shipped, and Serenity $11.39 shipped. I think every one of those $15.45 movies can be had for $10.39 or $11.39 shipped there.

I just bought those movies, and don't even have an HD DVD player yet.

It's been delayed TBA last time I heard.

If they are playing trailers for it, they must be planning to release it sometime soon.

ust in time for the theatrical release of the third 'Pirates' epic, Disney has set a May 22 voyage for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.' These guaranteed huge sellers will be followed on June 5 by 'Cars,' the Pixar hit and current favorite for this year's Best Animated Film Oscar.

what other places still accept the $10 google checkout..

i used to order from bestprices but i dont see that gc offer there anymore

Not all of their prices are good, I'll give you that. There are atleast 50 HDDVDs that you can get for $11.39 shipped or lower. I am sure that is the best you can find.

It would come out about the same after tax and shipping. I don't know if everyone gets taxed but I do in CA. I purchased Frighteners HD DVD with GGC and I got charged $15.77 w/shipping + tax. DD ships for free and I'm not sure if they charge tax or not.

Yeah, that's one of the "old" news things I referred to. It's from January and their link to a dedicated thread does not work (goes to one of the Pirates movies). Yesterday I tried searching their forums and didn't find the Cars thread at all.

Well, it's not like they are playing the BD trailers in theaters. The multi-movie trailer was just on the disc for the first Pirates movie and could have been promoting a year's worth of releases. :(

I got the same email, replied to them that everything was right since I already had an account with them and none of my info has changed or expired, I asked to have the same title for the same price. This is what I got back:

So now, I replied back telling them that they should have mentioned this in the first place instead of making me feel stupid by telling me that my info didn't go through. I know I won't get anything by it, it was a long shot but it was handled poorly.

yea same thing happened to me at amazon once. drove me crazy since it was a wedding gift and it didnt arrive until AFTER the wedding because i had to reorder it. i wrote a long letter w/ a detailed report and case, talked to my bank & cc issuer; they assured me it was amazon's mistake. amazon just fed me some generic crap about how it was an error in processing the order and 'their system' doesnt allow for price adjustments. (which i know is complete bs, because they do it all the time after a price drops)

Ive made over 40 orders on 6 cards. Only one has been banned due to me slipping up. Trick is that you gotta wait until one ships before making the next order with the same card.

What I'm doing is buying one on buy.com, then using this DDD to get something else, then after I get my item from buy.com, order another one.

I just keep up the same cycle, they haven't given me a problem yet :D *knock on wood*

Guys: I rented Apocalypto and now I wish I had applied the same money toward buying it. Just... so... you know.

It's $23.99 at Amazon.

Oh, and Fry's Electronics says that the Blood Diamond BD will be $14.99 on Tuesday.

Oh rlly? $14.99? I'm sold :)

When I first heard of Apocalypto and saw some of the previews, I wasn't too interested and thought it would be some weird movie.

When I actually saw it, it turned out totally different than what I thought it would be.
It somewhat reminded me of Last Of The Mohicans, but all in all, this movie was pretty crazy, but not for the faint of heart. It has a lot of rough scenes:shock::baby: and tragedy:cold::oldman:

He's not format bashing, it will be better. The HD DVD version will have more features than the Blu-ray version.
Yeah my flux capacitor isn't working right now, so I can't go to July and find the superior version.[/saracasm]

Since when is the truth "bashing"?

Unlike the studio's usual policy of releasing identical Blu-ray and HD DVD releases of a title on the same date, Warner will instead debut 'Blood Diamond' about a month apart, with the Blu-ray hitting stores first on June 5, followed by the HD DVD on July 3.

What's more, while both versions will share identical tech specs, including matching 1080p transfers, supplemental content will be far from identical. The basic suite of extras are the same, including a filmmaker's commentary, four featurettes and a music video; however, the HD DVD will include a raft of exclusive cutting-edge features not included on the Blu-ray release.
The HD DVD of 'Blood Diamond' is the first announced next-gen title to include web-enabled extras, including allowing viewers to use their players to offer opinions in Warner's online polls, as well as view other special features such as maps of conflict pertaining to war-torn areas in Africa.
Furthermore, the HD DVD boasts an In-Movie Experience (IME) video commentary with additional behind-the-scenes and interview footage. And for the first time on 'Blood Diamond,' Warner will include the new Focus Points feature that takes the viewer to exciting in-depth featurettes and production diaries.

Despite the considerable differences between the Blu-ray and HD DVD, Warner has set an identical list price of $28.99 for each.

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/new...r_Brings_Blood_Diamond_to_Blu-ray,_HD_DVD/583

I wouldn't call it bashing either technically, but if people want to discuss differences in releases we only have about 4 other next gen DVD threads to put that discussion in (not that we haven't had it already). Last I checked this was the deals thread, and it's long enough as is, we needn't make it harder to find said deals by discussing previously established points of format releases.

Damn BD-J not being fully up to spec, that's what's holding the BD discs back right now!

I don't care about that online crap, but the IME is interesting.
I've almost never watched commentary on movies, so the $14.99 BD is for me.

EDIT: Oh, it's from Warners. GOT IT. I hate Warner.
At least they're not putting TrueHD audion on the HD DVD version and ONLY DD5.1 on the BD like they have before.
Format neutral my ass.

Hopefully after BD-J is complete in October, then there will be no difference between BD and HD-DVD in terms of the content.

Don't get too excited. With so many BD players out in the world that won't be fully BD-J compatible, combined with the fact that Java, by nature, will take a lot more resources to implement than HDi, don't expect a ton of titles to use it much.

Now wait a minute, didn't the BD films The Descent and Crank have similar IME extras.
I know The Descent had problems with with early BD players. But Crank seemed to be fine.

EDIT: Ahh, I see what they did now to simulate the HDi features of HD DVD titles.
Here's hoping BD-J is still the savior it's claimed to be!

And honestly, I rarely if ever, watch extras.
So long as these movies have optimum PQ and SQ, I'm happy.

id be more concerned w/ other studios putting out movies in MPEG-2 on BR while warner's been putting out only VC-1. i think Warners been doing a fantastic job for the BR consumers. though some of the movies havent been released yet on BR but thats the BDA's fault for screwing up BD-J so much. it looks like Warner's getting sick of waiting and just releasing movies now w/o features on BR while the HD DVD is getting all the IME goodness.

IIRC, The Descent 'faked' the picture in picture. I can't remember all the details but I'm sure someone does.
