Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)
for 99 how can you not be happy..

now go pick up the blockbusters and you will see what the baby can do..

hot fuzz is awesome..

and the a3 for $200 is still a great deal.. you get a player with 2 movies inside, you get an additional 2 of your choice at bb, and 5 via mail..
So how many people with the A2 Are happy with it? I think i should have bought a better movie than 12 monkeys to really expierence it heh. I am going to be buying Hott Fuzz Since its the NEW KING of HD as the AVS boards are saying heh.
Hott Fuzz does look good but I think it's a pretty lame movie. I was a big fan of Shaun of the Dead and I was expecting HF to be good as well but I was disappointed. I say get Transformers since I think it looks awesome and it's a good movie.

for me the contrary..

i wasnt impressed with shaun of the dead but still purchased hot fuzz blindly...

i ended up liking the movie.

both movies have alot of extras though!

well I should have said, I have the 360 add on but still I been tempted to buy a toshbia hd-dvd player with all of these deals.

Here is slightly off-topic question my bro-in-law bought the HD-DVD add-on right before they offered the 5 free movie via mail in offer. Can he buy one and photo copy that reciept and send that in with his original add-ons UPC code which he still has. And then he can return the second add-on with its original reciept, so he can get the 5 free movies?

download failed again..

wheres the burn cd instructions again.. cant find the post

someone posted its prob toshibas servers getting hammered
Super hot deal for those who ordered from bestbuy.com yesterday from googlecache and got the A3 with the 9 free movies.

Makes my Walmart Best Buy For Business A2 deal look sad.
Ditto. :\

For those that are gatting an update failure, how long is it taking? My unit has said Download 1/36 for about 40 mins now, and the port it's connected to on my router hasn't blinked at all. Think it's safe to dump?

MjC
yea on those specs above... they are clearly just adding a few notes to the a3 section .. the a2 does most of all that
I like how they bunch things up in the a2 description to make it seem much more bare bones...

That's pretty much what I plan on doing with my PS3 to get the 5 free Blu-ray movies. Tell him to go for it. :)

So the A3 is $200, comes with 2 movies (Bourne ?Identity? and 300), 5 free by mail and another 2 as a choice? I can't seem to find the Bourne and 300 in the product description.

yeah...
It isnt there but supposedly they are in the box...
A bit of a risk...
yeah...

Its not a risk, there's a sticker on the box that says that they're included. I'll pick mine up after work and take pics to confirm and see if I can post them in a couple hours.

Oppps. I meant I was impressed by Shaun of the Dead as a movie in general. I haven't seen the HD DVD yet.

I liked the HD Visuals in HF but I didn't care for the movie in general.

so the a3 comes with 300, bourne identity, and 2 free hd dvds of your choice? (not to mention the rebate for 5 free hd dvds...) and it's only $299? hmmmm...good deal?

only $199* Even better. Is there any coupons like free shipping or 10% off?

For anyone near Pontiac, IL...as of 6PM, the Super Walmart there still had about 10 of the HD-A2's and even some of the $348 laptops too (not sure of the number).
how can i get the a2 to output dolby digital instead of dts.. for some reason my audio receive lags when dts is used...
You would have to change the setups on the disc your viewing.

so i don't think i ever got this answered...but does the name on the rebate form for the 5 free hd dvds have to match the name on the credit card that you used to buy the HD DVD Player with? pleeeaassseee someone clear that up for me!

No, that shouldn't be an issue. If you are concerned about it though, call the number on the rebate (its in the OP) to ask them. Before you send your stuff, and this goes to anyone here, make sure you make copies of EVERYTHING, receipt, filled out rebate form, UPC and if you mail it with DC, save it!

tried that.. transformers says its using digital plus but my receiver detects it as dts

with the addon, it lets you select dts or digital in the settings...

I was startled by how there is like not a traditional mainmenu. The movie starts up and you push menu, it pauses and gives you options like scene selection, special features, ect. Pretty slick...

That's one of the many nice features of Hi-Def in general. Some people actually want the Main Menus back because the Special Features were too hard to find otherwise. Go fig.

It just can't be Pontiac, MI.

SIGH.

With the Toshiba I noticed it played Transformers in DTS. The Add on did Dolby Digital. DTS is a bit better compared to DD. I had none of the audion lag liek you though. I'm using a Onkyo Receiver just incase you are wondering.

Stopped by my local Wal-Mart (probably one of the originals...not a Super Wal-Mart) about 7:00 AM this morning and asked if they got any of the HDDVD players from the secret sale advertised online. The girl said, " Sure, let me go grab you one from the back." Well, She comes out holding one of the Acer Laptops and says, "Here you go." I told her I wanted the HDDVD player and not the laptop. She went in back and checked again and told me that that location wasn't getting any. I don't know what is worse; Living in a small Texas town where sales clerks don't know the difference between a laptop and HDDVD player or living in a small Texas town that has a Wal-Mart that is excluded from deals like these:lol:

On a happier note, I went to another Wal-mart and grabbed Blood Diamond for $14.96 and they had pretty much every other advertised HDDVD, so it wasn't all bad:D

yea its not the a2... ive always had an issue with dts...cheap htib..

it should have the option to choose though...

I can't find my damn usb cable for my camera...so I took shots with my cell phone:

Thing that sucks is that when I got home, waiting for me in the mail box was a 12% off coupon for Best Buy. I would have loved to use it since it would save me about $25 but there'd be no free movies I'd want since I own everything I want right now. Tempted to call the BestBuy.com number and see if they can refund me 12% :bomb:

Question for the people with the HD-A2.

Im runing componet right now. Except my TV has DVI. Would it Ok to use the HDMI to DVI cord and then optical out to my optical in on my tv? Would the picture be better? By how much better over the Componet right now?

There aren't many movies better than 12 Monkeys.

I'll be selling my 360 AO tonight on craigslist for $110 and using that to buy the A3 from BB and get my 2 in the box, 2 instant, and ANOTHER 5 free by mail.

I didn't see this mentioned, so I thought I'd share:

Best Buy (looks like only the website) is offering some HD-DVDs for $17.99. Not as good as WM's deals, but still good to know, right? As far as I can tell, it looks like the same movies that WM had on sale. Here's what they have:

$17.99:
Last Samurai
Casino
Full Metal Jacket
Backdraft
Unforgiven
Blood Diamond
Seabiscuit
12 Monkeys
Swordfish
Big Lebowski
Doom
Alexander Revisited

$19.99:
Knocked Up
Evan Almighty

Yes. The old one was over at the end of September, and the one you linked to started at the beginning of October. Look at the dates on the one you linked to. "Purchased between 10/1/07 and 2/28/08."
