I cant wait for White Noise 2 Personally.

*correction* called best buy and talked to the manager there who helped me before.

He said, once again, HD-A40. -_-V Im pretty sure he means HD-A35.

But hey he works at best buy and not me :(
You should ask "if I come down there and you don't have the HD-A40, will you let me pick out a free substitute player?"

I'm really excited to picking up Zodiac (DC). It was one of my Top 5 of 2007 and I decided to wait it out to get the HD release.

Other than that the announcements thus far aren't exciting. Then again like Linkin mentioned, CES might change that.

I'm a little behind on picking up more of the Kubrick films on HD, so I might do that this year. I still want to pick up 2001 on HD.

I am fairly sure I had seen these movies talked about earlier in the thread, but is war and shoot em up coming to hd dvd via USA release or are they only blu ray titles?

I don't know about War, but Shoot em up is coming. New Line Cinema has said they are delaying HD DVD releases such as Shoot Em Up and Hairspray because of region coding.

They don't want to release region free movies on any format until those movies have played their theatrical course in every region.

I wonder how long it takes though. Hairspray has been out here for quite sometime, not that I care for that movie but I'm definately waiting on Shootem Up.
Patience young padawan...just wait for CES next week, I'm sure we'll hear all kinds of good stuff...atleast that's what I'm expecting.

Finaly picked up Blade Runner...I'll check it out sometime this week...I'm watching WAR tonight.
IIRC, CES was a bust HD DVD wise last year for announcements. Although, shortly there after Matrix was announced.

I got an HD-DVD player for Christmas, but I haven't bought any HD-DVDs for it yet. I plan on mainly picking up new movies on HD-DVD as they are released. Most of the movies I'd want that have been released to date I already own on DVD. That said, what do you all do if there's an HD-DVD version of a DVD you already own? Do you buy it again? If so, what do you do with your DVD version? Do you sell it to try to recoup some of your costs?

I didn't have a ton of DVDs but if there was a HD-DVD released and I had the DVD, I'll sell the DVD and put that money towards the HD-DVD release.

I've gotten pretty lucky, I sold my Fear & Loathing Criterion for the same price as the HD-DVD and sold Shaun Of The Dead/Eternal Sunshine for $10 each.

When I bought my player this time last year, I went through my DVD collection and pulled every title I had that was on HD or was announced. Traded them at Movie Stop with the 4 for 1 deal they had. That took care of plenty of new releases on HD, and every week or so, I'd pick up a few of the catalog titles i still needed to replace. Last few weeks with these bogo sales, I finally caught up.

And the crickets may be chirping, but I got 10 titles with best buys deal, and Rambo II coming from Xploited :)

I've picked up stuff I don't have, with two exceptions.

I would have kept the Criterion... depending on how good the DVD sets are, I buy the better looking picture, but keep the old set for the slew of extras... Hellboy being a good example.

highdefdigest:

For HD DVD fans, Paramount/DreamWorks' Kelly Avery said the two studios will issue an extensive slate of both new releases and catalog titles, including the blockbusters 'Bee Movie' and 'Beowulf' (which have both already been announced to retailers).
So, if nothing else, at least Paramount seems to know that they need to announce stuff. Let's see if Universal gets the message.

Also, for neutral (?) studios...no surprises here, really:
Finally, format-agnostic Warner said that their high-def releases this year would include 'The Dark Knight,' 'Speed Racer,' 'Get Smart,' 'The Bucket List' and the current Will Smith smash 'I Am Legend.'

The Dazed and Confused Criterion disc absolutely kills the HD DVD.

Warner is out of control. Over the past two days, they have sent me 10 movies from canceled orders.

To be honest, I didn't really care about the extras but I still made a copy of disc 2. :whistle2:#

i'd feel bad if it actually worked, so not gonna do it

just sucks, i get all the movies from all my warner orders on time or early

everyone else get their movies delayed for months then get tons of free movies

can't win :D

Well, it sucks for me because I canceled and than replaced my order. So I already have all of the movies they have sent me.

wtf! ups just delivered me troy dc, smallville season 6, and return to house on haunted hill

WTF THIS IS AN OLD ASS ORDER AND I ALREADY OWN ALL THIS..! IM PRETTY SURE I CANCELLED with wb.

it doesnt list prices but it doesnt look like i was charged. unless they snuck the charges in back then

i think someone mentioned that wb didnt charge them for something like this.. if this is the case and no one wants em on here.. they are going on amazon
Wasn't that the point?
it sucked though in the kinda boring sucky way...

ive seen this and lady scarface.. which leads to the questions... is there any real porn on hd?

right.. ive seen pirates and i guess its a tad better but its really more of the same but on a boat

Its a shame that jesse jane is in these movies but i guess thats where the money is

A combo disc huh? That'll go over real well on my laptop on the plane.
A combo disc huh? That'll go over real well on my laptop on the plane.
No, porno's don't do combos, they include 2 discs an HD DVD and a DVD version.
No, porno's don't do combos, they include 2 discs an HD DVD and a DVD version.
Pirates is 3 discs actually. 1 HD, 1 DVD, 1 special features on DVD. I saw pictures of it somewhere....

Yup, Dreamgirlz came with two separate disc.
just finished watching eternal sunshine... what a weird movie
If you thought that was weird, go rent Being John Malkovich. It's from the same writer (Charlie Kaufman) and it's genius.

PORNOS can get it right, and Universal can't?!

now that warner's blu, i wonder if uni will stay or go

i hope at least in the future all new players will include HD DVD playback, would hate to have my disks be worthless and i'm not going to rebuy them

Bad news for HD DVD.

But Paramount won't be changing for at least 18 months, and likely Universal won't either. So I am not sure it's safe to say HD DVD is dead.

For me it is at least, Paramount & Universal don't have anything that's that great to me

And who knows what's going on w/ Weinstein............
i feel like putting in a huge warner order, canceling it same day, and seeing what happens
Still feel guilty about trying this? ;)

Aww fuck. Guess I really do have to start saving for a PS3 now.

Is the only way to get Ocean's 1+2 on HD the Trilogy? I stupidly blind-opened my Thirteen copy.
Still feel guilty about trying this? ;)
ha i actually put in a pre order for 7 hd dvd's coming out soon and smallville s5, s6, and planet earth all on HD DVD last week that is still "processing"

i just called them up and canceled, so i hop they send it anyway now

yea and the only way to get oceans 11 + 12 is through the trilogy

same with spiderman which doesn't make a lot of sense since a lot of people got spiderman 3 for free

I guess it still depends on wether HD DVD made any deals with other studios that they plan to announce come CES. Just because Warner didn't accept their money doesn't mean that other studios couldn't need it/use it. It is a big blow, don't get me wrong but I'm not going to say HD DVD is doomed till we see what they have to say about our beloved format this coming week in Vegas.
