Heroes Volume 3: Villains

Damn it, Tim Kring, you made me cheer for that cretin Sylar just because he threw Mohinder into a wall. That sir, is unforgivable.

(I swear to god I don't see how all the fangirls cling to him like friggin wool)

This was a good eps. Just got to watch it tonight because of the World Series last night. The story was much more interesting than the past two weeks

I rewatched it just now. I really hate Knox when his powers kick in. The stupid swirly sound effect and he starts sniffing and flaring his nostrils. Thats ridiculous. I don't like his look or powers.

Sylar makes for a much better hero than Peter, standing side by side he is like a foot taller and more of a muscular build. He makes Peter look so scrawny.

I'm starting to see some more potential in Claire's character. It would be cool if she showed some sort of side effect from taking in all that electricity from Elle, give offensive powers. It would make her very Rogue-ish, as it seems this is the direction they are taking that direction with her worrying about not being able to feel at all.
The next episode to be show-breakdown-
Hiro attempts to delve into Arthur Petrelli's past to uncover the mystery behind him creating the rival company Pinehearst, and his hatred towards Angela. Meanwhile, Sylar is stricken by guilt when tries to stop his murderous ways, while Noah Bennett and Elle both team up to try to kill him. Also, Meredith's training with Claire goes up in smoke with the arrival of her murderous brother.
I wonder if that means Elle changes her mind about getting her powers taken away or if she tries to be a double agent. Whose murderous brother? Claire's or Meredith's?

Solid episode last night, thought for a bit when Claire "calmed" Elle down, that she may have Rogue like abilities. But its more than likely that she just absorbs and doesn't "feed" off the power.
Main characters die. It's just none have this season. Unless you count Adam Monroe since he was a main character in the second season.

Issac, Nikki and D.L died in previous seasons. They were all main characters.
Nikki died and Ali Larter is now her "sister" lol come on man...

and D.L. was hardly a main character.

Lemme know when Parkman, Shuresh, Pete, his brother who died twice already, Hiro, cheerleader, HRG or anyone remotely really MAIN dies.

This weeks episode was pretty decent.

I'm wondering about Sylar waking up from his medically induced coma. I thought that Mrs. Petrelli was a pre-cog. Anyone else think that Mr. Petrelli is behind him waking up? Since he has Porkman's powers, via Peter, it could be possible.

I wonder how 'special' Sylar is? Mr. & Mrs. Petrelli seem to be quite fixated on him...

I didn't think it was possible, but I believe I find Peter even more annoying now that he doesn't have his powers.

So, Nathan is going to kick some doors down? Um...maybe it's just me but flying man + ice princess < all the villians in the Pinehurst building.

I was kinda psyched when Knox punched right through Porkman. I instantly thought fatality, but alas it was an illusion. At least Daphne is a-ok.

Mohinder is now just plain selfish as he wants to undo his mutation but keep his powers. Sylar really needed to put him in his place using (insert superpower other than teleknesis here).

It's pretty sad that the highlight of Hiro's story this week was eating feces. I guess the bad ass future Hiro from Season 1 will never come around.

Elle was basically just having an uncontrollable fit for lack of a better term. Claire had Elle hold her hand rather than the metal conduit attached to the plane that Elle was electrocuting. Since Claire cant feel pain, she just took it until the fit subsided.

How was DL not a main character? He was part of the main cast for about 18 episodes of the first season.

And, just because the actress of a deceased character is still with the show, that doesn't count either?

And, Issac was a main character for 19 episodes. You didn't even mention him.

story wise, I liked this past weeks episode. Dialog wise I was ready to slit my wrists...Did some of these people forgot how to act? When claire and the electric girl were talking about going to pinehearst I thought I was watching a high school play.

Issac I can give ya.... I just never found DL that important to the show other than to keep Nikki in check.

Look, I'm not trying to say I want people to die to make the show better, I just hate that because people can time travel, they can basically change anything they want plot-wise at any time.

I don't need all the jumping around and craziness. Writing in that Hiro won't travel back in time anymore is a good thing, it's enough already.
is there really main characters on the show? Isn't it more of an ensemble cast.
though its an ensemble cast, its really Peter's story
dont worry, its not like you had a chance.
I had a chance when she was on Law & Order: SVU.

EDIT: She'll be pregnant for a few more weeks.

This show is out of control. I will keep watching because I'm a sucker but I am 100% convinced the writers have no idea what they are doing. I thought Lost was a bit off in its second season but that was practically Shakespeare compared to Heroes...

This week's show was so-so.
I have to agree that, so far, this show is going nowhere.
Plot twists and turns make the show seem like a JRPG.

Just watched last weeks episode (was traveling). Thought it was pretty good.

I still don't get all the gripes as I'm liking this season fine so far.

I agree, its better than the drag of last season, some people are just never happy

Jeph Loeb being gone can only help. He's an extremely overrated writer. His comics work is pretty much all fluff and filler. This season, IMO, has been just awful. The storylines are convoluted, there are far too many characters and NOTHING has happened (for the amouint of time that has aired). Many of the characters' motivations are murky at best and nonexistant at worst. I wanted to like this show from the beginning but I'm just about ready to drop it. If it's ratings continue to drop, though, NBC may make the decision for me. If it keeps slipping I wouldn't be surprised if they don't renew it in the spring. It's extremely expensive to produce and probably the only thing saving it at this point are demographic ratings and overseas sales.

The problem with a show like Heroes is that it needs an ending... like Lost finally decided... then you have a specific amount of time to tell an actual story, and you don't have to make shit up to let the plots change and run longer.
I agree, its better than the drag of last season, some people are just never happy
I usually think this way when the backlash starts against a popular show (i.e. The Office) but in this case I think the backlash is completely justified. The first season was really good because they had the entire story planned out. I was also very intrigued by the idea of a new cast every season which was the original intent of the series until the cast became stars and the network wanted to keep them around. With a premise as strong as Heroes the cast really doesn't matter - people will tune in anyway.

The other things killing the show are time travel, alternate futures, no consequences (since no one really dies) and the thing that annoys me the most is that there is no defined set of "heroes" and "villains" - I know (or at least I think) that the writers were trying to blur the line between good and evil but they have done a HORRIBLE job going about it. The only two characters that are remotely interesting in this respect are Elle and Daphne since they are actually conflicted with their actions. Sylar being "good" is a joke - they completely ruined one of the best villains in any TV show or movie ever. He was a total bad ass with no remorse about anything he did - now they try and explain it away by saying he's good but has some stupid hunger? C'mon, why not just say the midichlorians made him do it?

Finally, they have completely left the "real world" in the last 2 seasons. What happened to the FBI agent chasing Sylar as a serial killer? Didn't the Heroes used to juggle their jobs and personal lives? Parkman's marriage storyline was at least interesting. We get none of that now - everything revolves around "saving the world" and nothing is grounded in any sort of reality. Bah, I'm just bitter because I really loved Season 1...

I do agree that this season is better than the last one - but not by much.

I guess I'm just less picky as I never thought the show was a masterpiece or anything, even in Season 1. I enjoyed it, but though it was always a bit silly. It's just sheer entertainment, I've never gotten too caught up in the plot, discussing it online etc. like I do with a show like Lost.

I can't agree with you more about Loeb being overrated, this feels like the same thing he did with the Ultimates and Hush throw as many characters in it as he possible can and try to explain what everone is doing there at the end with some loose reason that a 13 year old would come up with.

I loved the first season, the story and characters were building to something. And it was alright that it skipped around because no one knew each and you were trying to introduce 8 people that didn't have a connection, but now after 2 seasons you still have people you haven't met each other. Like they wouldn't say "hey I think all of us people with powers should meet some where"

And I don't know why they keep intorducing more people so now the main Heroes can get even less screen time and even less character development. And if you kill someone leave them dead don't bring them back in some stupid way. You can't say everone can die if you keep bringing them back.

And lastly if you make a rule that you can't stop someone from dieing even know how many times you go back in time. Then you can't break that rule in the next 2 seasons and have time suddenly be changed by the smallest event, which one is it can you change time or not?

I dont know what to think about this episode. It almost seems like their going "hey stupid all this stuff clearly goes together. I mean come on, Claire, the train, claires mom...omg we are so clever."

Ok that was officialy a crap episode. Hiro has now been what brain scrambled? Killed? Lost power?

I thought it was an ok episode. It at least tied everything together, outlined the deal with Arthur Petrelli more.

Kind of a filler episode in that it didn't move the plot forward since it was mostly flashbacks.

As for Hiro, it didn't look like he was stealing powers (didn't see the ghosting type of stuff), so my guess is he was just erasing the dream he had about him from his mind. He must have some purpose for Hiro and his power.
So... how did Arthur's Parkman power become soul stealing powers?
id assume the mind reading/manipulation is something he acquired with his main power.

That's my guess as well.

I enjoy performances by Eric Roberts. He is always convincing as the roles he plays (La Cucaracha, Runaway Train). I think he's a good actor who chooses poorly.

The episode should be titled Deus Ex Machina. But hey, anything that gets Kristen Bell more screen time is good for the world.

Haitian! That is all.

With Villains, it seems like the Heroes Powers That Be want to fill in holes and fix broken parts.

I know I brought this up at least two other times, but does anyone else suspect Marvel Universe-esque secondary mutations with the second coming of the eclipse? If not, I guess that's how people get back their powers?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, just having that man standing in the background of any scene makes it instantly awesome.
id assume the mind reading/manipulation is something he acquired with his main power.
Agreed. His main power must be stealing powers and he must have stolen the ability to mind read from someone.

Truer words have never been spoken.
Maybe i'm having a brain fart but did Sylar ever use that gunshot power before?
i was thinking the same thing.

speaking of which, im sure glad that emo guy didnt get anymore screen time than he did.
Maybe i'm having a brain fart but did Sylar ever use that gunshot power before?
No. It makes absolutely no sense to have created that power for this episode because there were at least 10 instances for him to use it in season 1 alone. And there were so many things wrong with this episode I stopped paying attention halfway through, only to come back and they fucking killed the black guy AGAIN. I'm waiting for him to hunt down and kill The Haitian somehow so I can finally stop watching this show.

Super duper crap filler episode. Terminator was much better.

Arthur has too much power. Exactly how could he be taken down without it being crappy?

EDIT: Why was the African killed off? Did that serve some other purpose than a gratuitous display of power? Yeah, Arthur could kill somebody with one of his fifty superpowers. Big deal.

This episode was awful. I should've just played Gears, instead. But now I get to see 3 stories that tell me nothing I wanted to know, and a "cliffhanger" involving Hiro and Arthur.
