And when I was a kid I thought FF7 looked ugly. I hated the graphics... I still do. But Golden Saucer was so fun. I never thought the story was worthy of all the analysis I gets, given the poor ending and the strange bugs, like the one outside of the Golden Bee inn...
The next one I liked was FF10. That game was fun, I liked the story too.
I'm a bigger DQ fan than an FF fan now. They're almost all good, and I say almost, because I hate DQ2 with a passion, and DQ7 has a great story but ugly graphics and dated fetch and find gameplay. But 3-6 and 8 are like the pinnacle of RPGing for me. I remember hearing rumors of DQ4 and 5 remixed, coming stateside, and if that's true then I'm gonna be ecstatic.
Speaking of concerts, I'm trying to get some Kanye tickets... $60 for Mezzanine, wow... =O
I actually thought FFVII looked quite impressive at the time and I was amazed at the graphics, especially for a PS1 game (The only PS1 traditional RPG to have some 3D graphics before FFVII was Wild Arms, and FFVII is a big jump compared to that game). I actually really liked just about everything about FFVII, except the translation.
Although in my case, I like the DQ series, but no where near as much as FF. I thought DQ was better than FF on NES personally. The DQ game that got me into the series more was the 8th (I wasn't too big of a fan of the previous ones except 4 and 6 to an extent). As for FFI though, it's my least favorite FF game (2nd one I ever played). My problem is that I'm not a fan of character creation and since I got use to a story level around FFIV, it's just really hard for me to play it (I got it on NES, GBA, and PS1 too). FFII was a bit better (NES one), but the skill increasing wasn't too balanced IMO (I like the way it works in SaGa games though).
Uh, looks like I won't be playing many games because I just realized some homework due by Monday I kind of forgot about. Although I feel like playing some PSP tonight, so that may be what I do.
