Hi from Mrs Wombat.. really!!

Hi Mrs Wombat,

What advice would you give to a gamer such as I who's better half is not as patient as you are with their's hubby's gamer habit? We've had major disagreements and I'm trying to meet her halfway but unlike your situation where it seems you have reached an understanding I am still struggling in my own relationship. Things are improving but I hope you could help shed some light from a lady's perspective.

Nice to know you're representing latinas! I myself come from Queens, NYC and am 50/50 Argentinan/Puerto Rican. Just out of curiosity are you a fan of an Latin music or have you given the music a try? I enjoy mostly Salsa & Merengue.

Thanks for your time!

made me laugh so hard i almost fell of my chair

hey mrs wombat wat part of long island did wombat grow up in?

I don't understand how ANYONE can like the Yankees but I guess it's a New Yorker thing.
Mrs.Wombat remember when you get a house DON'T settle. Remember your dream house may not look like the cookie cutter design most do. I wish more people would not settle for a cookie cutter design and think outside the mold.

For the record I am not a Yankee fan I am a Mets fan and sometimes a Pirates fan (I went to alot of bucs games when I was college), as a NY'er i don't hate the Yankees but I am not a "fan". I am also a Jets fan not a Giants fan. I think the Mrs. and I need to have a small sports talk
I think the Mrs. and I need to have a small sports talk
Oooo I hope it's the kind that ends in a black eye and someone saying "I fell down the stairs."

Go Mets! It's funny because I'm originally from the BX, so people automatically assume I'm a Yankee fan. Now that I'm in New England, I'm "accepted" because I'm a Mets fan instead.

And Mrs. W, I've heard a couple of other people tell me terriers were tough too, so I might have to change my mind. My fiance seems to really want a Yorkie, but I wonder if they're ok since they're in the toy group. It's definitely a tough choice, and we're really doing our research to find the perfect pup.

OK.. I never stated that I knew which team Wombat actually rooted for.. I believe I just said New York Teams.. I even said I didnt remember which one he preferred.. so SUCK IT!!!;)

As for making more money than Wombat, Wombat is all for it.. he doesnt care if Im the bread winner.. in fact he would love for me to make more.. When we have little wombats, Wombat would love to be a stay at home wombat and me be the career mom.. which Im all for if we could do it.. so no.. no jealousy there.. not even a little.. he knows Im good at what I do..

Veronica Mars talk.. OK I have to confess something.. I have been confusing Piz and Weevil in my mind.. I actually like Weevil alot more that Piz.. I dont think the writers have really developed the Piz character.. I think he is hot.. but not a good addition to the cast.. none of the new characters are really anything to write home about.. I still love Mac though.. She's my girl.. Weevil is awesome.. so I take back my comments about Piz.. or just replace Piz with Weevil..

And lastly, how do you get the women on board with video games...?? you got to find the right girl to begin with.. I know ...lame response.. but hear this.. I KNEW WHAT I WAS GETTING MYSELF INTO WHEN I STARTED DATING WOMBAT!!! PERIOD.. I knew he loved his video games and yes we fight about it alot.. mostly about him spending more quality with the video games than with me.. his wife.. but I knew it was something I would need to learn to balance out.. and just over time.. and the fact that he loves me.. and doesnt want to lose me to something as lame as playing too much video games... we have come to a happy compromise. We have learned to spend the majority of our time doing the things we like to do together.. and then (and only then) does Wombat play his video games for a few hours.. either I stay and watch and read a book, a magazine or play on my laptop and at least we are together or I go and do something for myself.. the key is compromise.. dont be selfish with your playing and dont force it on her.. baby steps man.. if she loves you.. she will come around..
but I knew it was something I would need to learn to balance out.. and just over time.. and the fact that he loves me.. and doesnt want to lose me to something as lame as playing too much video games...
Ouch... playing too many video games isn't lame...

sorry Scobie... lame wasnt a good word to use.. didnt mean to offend.. Video games just shouldnt be the "thing" that comes between two people who love each other.. Thats what I meant.. video game playing is NOT LAME.. just a poor excuse for a relationshhip to fail.. :(

Thank God. :applause: I was gonna say.. Wombat is a fan of the evil empire? WTF lol.

BoSox FTW!

........

That's a really personal and innapropriate question. Don't be suprised if you don't get a response/ get a very mean or sarcastic response.
I dont need porn, I'm married to Mrs. Wombat
Situation well diffused. Back to regular programming.

Hi Mrs. Wombat,

I was just wondering how you and Wombat were going to address video gaming when you start having little wombats in the house. Do you forsee video games being a major part of their lives and is that something you want or are concerned about? Or do you think videogames will be something your other half will need to be curtail, especially with M rated games. I just wonder since I'm getting married soon and while we're far away from little wombats in my life, it's something I've already started to think about.

ok.. wombat does NOT look anything like Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch.. not even a little.. you guys were closer with the Jon Lovitz comment then Cousin Oliver...

When we start having little wombats.. video gaming will be Wombat's charge.. and I think Wombat will be a good father enough to know what our littles ones will be allowed to play and what he will keep for himself. I think video game playing is actually great for hand eye coordination.. and as long as Wombat and the kids dont get addicted to it all the time and we limit the playing to after schoolwork is done or similar rules then I will be ok with video gaming in the household..

As for the porn.. YES I WILL ANSWER THIS QUESTION...I think Im more of a fan of it then the Wombat sometimes.. well Im a girl.. I dont like hard core porn.. I like "Skin-a-max porn.". but sadly we got rid of our movie channels because the real movies were always crap..we now have Netflix.. but Im really very ok with that sort of stuff.. porn.. strip clubs.. etc.. I know Wombat knows that the good stuff is at home.. ;)

You people really havent realized yet that there isnt much that makes me cringe.. I'm very open, people.. I dont get offended easily.. I may just not answer some things due to not giving it all up.. keeping some stuff secret isnt a crime!!! Keep em coming!!! Keep the thread alive!!

Well when you do have little Wombats I hope they don't read this thread about aboud Mama Wombats porn likes and dislikes.

BTW my little 2 month old loves watching me pwn the noobs in Battlefield 2: modern combat so video games and kids can be mixed as long as they know the limits like everything else.

I like this thread a lot. I usually read the DS sub more than anything, but since listening to 63, I popped into here and wanted to say that this thread makes me feel more connected to the CAGcast somehow. I'll definitely keep listening!
Keep em coming!!! Keep the thread alive!!
i think mrs W just wants to get famous off this thread and is looking for publicity.

Mrs. Wombat, are you into vacations that take you far away from home, or do you prefer vacations that are just downtime at home?

Also, what are your most and least favorite things about NYC (multiple answers for both is cool)?

And finally, has post-9/11 security become a hassle for living in the city?

Hypothetical scenario: Wombat comes down with laryngitis on a particularly big 'news week' in gaming, two days before the CAGCast. Given that much time to prepare, plus his help producing an outline, would you feel comfortable for sitting in for him, even if only to do a truncated 30-45 minute show? In other words, do you feel like your gaming knowledge has hit 'CAGCast-worthy' through listening to him do the CAGCast?

Maybe that question was effectively already asked. If so, sorry for the laziness.

I'm more worried about keeping our future little shipwrecks away from their daddy's toys so he doesn't throw a fit. How do tell a small child that those toys aren't for play, they're for staying in the package and looking at???
OK.. so I tried to do the picture upload at imageshack.com.. so here we go.. see if it works.. Heres my fav pic of Zelda to date..

Wow, I had no idea Zelda was a Shih-Tzu. I was picturing a lab mix, for some reason; something like this (from Google Images):

I really like Shih-Tzus; my family got one when I was in high school. He lives at my parents' house, so I still get to see him every now and then.

You don't. Toys are meant to be played with. I let my kids open a few every once in a while and still keep some "special" collectables tucked away out of sight.

This thread is strangest of things. I'm so fascinated by MrsWombat, but I cannot stand all things Wombat. Really. MrsWombat is a charming, endearing person, seemingly from her posts...and Wombat is all things annoying.

Now onto my fav question of the batch.. GILMORE GIRLS!!!
My fav Rory boyfriend is probably Jess.. although Logan is a hottie so he has just this season moved up on the list.. As for LORO (Logan and Rory).. I think Logan has been too good to be true lately and I'm waiting for the "other shoe to drop".. and they break up.. I like him so I want them to last but then the show is over really (or a new show will emerge).. same thing with Lorelei.. I think she will bounce back and forth between what she wants (Luke or Chris).. cause when she settles.. the show is over.. now a question for you.. how do you like the writing this season so far.. since Amy Palladino left the show after last season..??
Sorry it took me forever to get back to you, but I decided to wait til last night's episode to write you back.

The new writer(s) seem to be getting the show down for the most part. I felt like there was a uniqueness to the characters as well as a certain "spark" to Star's Hallow that had been missing since Palladino left. However as I was watching last night's episode, all of those missing things seem to have come back. So to answer your question fully, I am enjoying the writing this season, however I desperately want to know where Palladino would have gone with the story. One thing that will always bother me once the show is over, is that Palladino said something along the lines of, "I have always known what I want the last two lines of the final show to be," and that now we will never hear Palladino's perfect ending.

Anyway, it looks like you called it with Logan, the "other shoe is dropping..." and fast! Can't wait to see how the future pans out for our girls!

I was expecting Zelda to look more like this:

...Viva Le Wombat!!!

Seeing as you are an architect and you have video games as a hobby, have you ever given any thought to trying your hand at level design for games? And along that same line, what are your favorite or most memorable levels or environments that you've played in a game?

hello folks... ok the new batch of questions are to be answered:

I love to travel.. but Mr Wombat does not like to go far.. mostly because we cant afford it.. I have had the pleasure of travelling through Europe and living in Italy for a semester during college.. but Wombat only left the country for the first time during our honeymoon.. if we had more vacation time and more money I think we would travel more.. Also, Zelda keeps us local for the most part.. I dont like to put her in a kennel..

I think Ive answered the question of what I like in NYC and what I dont.. but Ill say it again... maybe it will be a different reason this time.. I love the closeness of everything.. from food to culture to transportation.. etc.. what I hate is the cost and the lack of personal space..

As for life in NYC post 9/11.. the security is only a pain in the airports.. other than that the security in the buildings is status quo.. but I guess the scariest thing and the thing that puts me always on edge are the National Guardsman with semi automatic weapons that have been at the train stations (Penn adn Grand Central) and the cops in the subways since 9/11/01

As for taking over for Wombat if he had larangitis.. umm.. no.. that would not go over very well.. if the CAGcast was all about TV shows and the latest trends... then yes.. but even listening to the CAGcast.. I still have not absorbed nearly enough stuff.. PLEASE.. I barely listen to Wombat as it is now.. but I would do another show like what Mrs Cheapy and I did during CAGcast 52 (or whatever one it was..)

As for the keeping a small child away from wanting to open "daddy's toys".. my theory is to buy two of everything.. Wombat does that now for the things he reallys wants to see up close.. but in general.. Wombat keeps "his toys" out of sight and I have always said that when we finally "make it" financially in this world and have a big house and stuff that I would design a room just for him and his "toys".. figures, posters, and video game stuff.. the Wombat room..He cant wait for that...

Wombat is the greatest marsupial!!! DUH!! But I'm biased...

And no I have never considered designing a game level.. I wouldnt necessarily say video games is a hobby of mine.. its more of a support of my husband's love for video games.. but I do think it would be cool to have an idea become a level for a game.. I think I have to think about that idea more.. but I dont see myself doing anything like that.. or really wanting too.. honestly..

As for if a tree falls in an empty forest.. who can hear it? ... um.. for me.. um.. I dont have a clever answer for that.. all I can say is that if you lived close enough to the forest and the tree is big enough.. I would think you would at least feel the vibration of the tree hitting the ground.. hope thats a good enough answer...

Anyway, Im really glad to be entertaining you all who are regularly reading this thread.. keep the questions coming.. I"ll be back on tomorrow to see whats new.. Thanks

Mrs. Wombat, what did you dream of doing when you were younger, job-wise? Being an architect, it seems like you may have been one of the lucky ones who got to follow their dream into a job that pays. For me, I was into broadcasting and audio production but ended up in a random desk job because it paid more.

Also, you should prod Cheapy and Wombat to do another wives' show. That was a pretty great CAGcast.

OK.. for your info.. wombats eat and sleep and occasionally fornicate... and they are cute as a button!!!

So if a dingo attacked.. wombat would tame it and make it his pet. Nuff said!!

As for what I wanted to do when I was younger.. you could say I grew into what I became.. I always loved building with blocks and legos when I was a kid so becoming an architect was not a far stretch for me.. but its not what I always wanted to do.. I went through phases.. I wanted to be an artist, a fashion designer, an interior designer and eventually after taking some architectural drafting classes in high school an architect. I went to a summer program in Cornell between my jr and sr years in high school and that sealed the deal for me.. so yes.. I think I am one of those lucky ones that followed their dream.. but under no circumstances is architecture a career with money.. I know tv and movies glamorize the job so it seems like we make a ton of money and get to make cool things.. but unless you have a license and own your own firm.. the money isnt that great.. even in NYC.. the money isnt that great.. Its funny because me and my co workers always joke about how we are in the wrong field.. GCs (general contractors) and Client Reps.. thats where the money is in the building industry.. NOT ARCHITECTURE!! So dont let TV shows and movies like Sleepless in Seattle fool you into thinking architects are fantastically wealthy and have all this free time on their hands.. we dont.. but us architects do get to do what we love to do.. and I do love what I do so yeah I guess I did get to follow my dream..

As for another CAGcast with the wives.. maybe someone should start a petition thread for it to really see if there are people out there who want to hear it.. I think it may be a mixed bag.. not everyone wants us chicks on the airwaves.. but thanks for saying you liked that episode.. I would do it again..

MrsWombat...who are the "guys" on your list....you know your list. I'm sure we'd all like to get an idea of what kind of gal that you are.

Also, I'm off of the Veronica Mars wagon. I'm just not into it this year. I don't find the time to seek it out when it's on...maybe I'll just catch up on DVD, but it's just not as interesting. I need more Mac and Wallace.
Okay, I asked this question once, and people thought I crossed the line. But after some of the other questions on here, I must repeat:

Mrs. Wombat, if your husband was a pirate, what would be the first port he would plunder? And what would the rape:pillage ratio be?
Not crass at all IMHO. I like the question, and I'm going to use it in my day to day life.

OK the guys on my "list" are:
John Cusack
John Meyer
Patrick Dempsey
Jason Dohring (from VM)
Eric Mabius (from Ugly Betty)
James Roday (from Psych)
Matt Czuchry (from Gilmore Girls)

Its an ever expanding/changing list.. but this is the latest and greatest one.. John Cusack will ALWAYS be on the top of my list though.. He is my favorite of all time..

I will have to get back to the other questions .. I need to do some thinking about them.. plus I have to get back to work.. I WILL respond to both of the "other" questions later tonight.. Thanks..

ok ok.. I forgot a name on my "list"..

Zach Braff (from Scrubs) ...sooo hot...

sorry honey (meaning Wombat).. but this is "my list".. you know its all about what you know you could never have.. you.. I can have whenever I want.. ;)

And as for the "other" questions..

grower

His first port to plunder would be the Isle of Gaming-o...

rape:pillage ratio = 1:2.. he is definitely more into pillaging (or mooching.. which ever word you prefer)
