I have an xbox stick that isn't very good IMO, and them nerdy dudes would probably tear it to shreads with insults. It pretty cool though, you can switch out the joystick. There is that ball one (Japanese style?) and the western one. I also like it cause it had programable buttons. Programable buttons + Shin Akuma = Unlocking of secrect characters in SVC Chaos.
Ball-top joystick = Japanese
Bat-top joystick = US
The reason why the "nerdy dudes" would bash your Xbox stick is because there are better sticks out there with higher quality parts. For example, you own a MadCatz Xbox controller and you're happy with it. However, there's the official Xbox S controller which feels (and is) more high quality than your MadCatz. But if you're content with your MadCatz, then more power to you.
Someone asked earlier what is the best arcade-style stick for Xbox/PS2, that really depends on the size of your wallet.

You can get custom-made sticks anywhere from $100-$300. You also have the option of having a bat-top or ball-top stick, US or Japanese-style button layout, custom artwork, etc. depending on who your maker is. But, if you're just in the market for a mass-produced stick, you can't go wrong with the Namco Arcade Stick (hard to come by, $40-$60), Nuby Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Arcade Stick ($60) or Hori Real Arcade Pro Stick ($80).
