I should finally get into Samurai Shodown II.

I haven't played much of it, but it's gonna be nice to have a decent fighter.

I don't wanna play your tired ass Street Fighter II, you freak bitch.

Never really got into Sam Sho, but I respect the series. It's a little slow for me though. Still though I'll of course be picking up SS2.

I'm picking up Sam Sho tomorrow. I should probably brush up on my Ukyo.

EDIT -- I'm heading out to Cali for the Cal-ASU game on Oct. 4. Are there any other places that will have SFIV by then?

no class on thursday so after lab ill be heading back to UP to play some more street fighter 4. Gonna play abel even though ill prob loose anyone know how to his urion-esqe elbow?

also talking about fighters not fighting games RIP Evan Tanner. one of the people that brought american MMA to the public. a sad day for the fighting world indeed. also the real abels (Fedor) manageing crew has been talking to UFC again fingers crossed. and last but not least chuck liddel has agreed to fight anderson silva, he must still be feeling that knock out to accept this fight cause hes gonna get his ass laided out again.

If you are going to Berkeley, the closest places that would have it are San Francisco State (across the Bay Bridge near Daly City) and San Jose State (which is about an hour+ from Berkeley without traffic).
Ken looks cool, but Ryu just looks downright annoyed.
I would be annoyed too if some guy was standing behind me saying "hey, c'mon bish, you wanna fight" with his eyes like all damn day.

it's crouching fierce, In order for it to launch u need to connect both hits.

also I tried using it as anti-air... it did not work at all -_-

quick tips for Abel via my experience and shyt Ive read elsewhere:

-jumping MK is the best jump-in and cross-over

-you can link his qcf+p from a lot of standard attacks, but my favorites are cr.MP and standing fierce

-rolling, qcf+k, is awesome. Roll + throw will do you good.

-forward+MK is a very useful poke, and it can be dash canceled into combos. watch sum videos to see it in action

Yes. If anything I wasn't using it enough when I played on Sunday. Can you Tornado Throw (EX) coming out of the roll?
Bad news, Sam Sho II on XBLA is showing up as 800 points...

Gonna pass.
Big time bummer.

And thanks asian. I'll probably drag a couple of buddies down to San Jose to try it out.

u can also do crouching HP and upon launch either do the dp+p throw, or do a roll followed by dp+p throw.

I've done the first one on accident so I kno it works, the 2nd one is all theory at the moment and needs to be tested... possibly both scenarios are conditional tho

of course if youve seen the combofeiend matches, it's always crouching fierce to ultra

I don't think I'll play SamSho2 online too much so I'll just save some cash & wait for the Anthology. I got hosed on FF: Special. I was the only one to buy it so nobody played online.

I played ton of SamshoV on XBL. At one point I was ranked #7. Wonder what I'm ranked now.

I also got suckered into FF Special on XBL and have yet to even play a single person online with it.

SamSho 2 is awesome.

I have no idea how to play it but I remember back in the days it was THE game to play at like the pizza stores and shyt.

you always played Street Fighter and KOF in the arcades, but played SamSho 2 at the restaurant!

that was the rule at the time, it still is.

I still subscribe to EGM, but it's not as good as it used to be. Part of it's that the games being covered generally are usually yawn-worthy material, and every issue's like 96 pages or something stupid like that.

No prob. It's inside the Bowling Center on Campus which is inside the Student Union building.

They have a bunch of fighting games other than SFIV there at the Bowling Center.

From what I remember they had on Sunday:

-SFIV (temporary 4 cabs, usually 2)
-MVC2
-CVS2 (Showcase Cab)
-GGXX Accent Core (Showcase Cab)
-T5DR
-KOFXI

+the usual DDR games and so forth. Add in ping pong tables and obviously bowling and you'll burn a couple hours fast.

Have fun while you are in the Bay!

If you have any questions, ask user kheprafish. He's a good friend of mine (though I don't know if he ever posts here, I think he just kinda ghosts the forums occasionally) and spent, what was it, a month? there. Just tell him zmonkay sent you, and I'm sure he can be of help.

Speaking of bad news, I just checked the SNK Playmore website. It looks like Samurai Shodown V: Special won't make it into the upcoming Samurai Shodown Anthology after all. In the beginning, I was excited to find out that it was finally getting a home port when it was announced on Gamespot back in February. It won't stop me from buying this collection Day1 since I have never played Samurai Shodown VI, but it looks like I will have to continue emulating Samurai Shodown V: Special on my friends PC. :bomb:

Wow, that's pretty fucking expected from SNKPUSA. I wonder if the emulation will still be screwy...

anyone know how accurate the XBLA Samsho 2 is? That's the only Samsho I really want to own... and maybe Samsho4, but that's not really a necessity IMO.

read on random websites that shamsho 2 is pretty arcade perfect its actually emulated from the arcade version it even has 1 player slow down like the arcade, although i havent encountered any lag/slow down on xbl which is awesome

how do you change what it says above your avatar because CAGiversary! is pretty stupid

I dunno if you have enough posts, but you should be able to go to profile settings to change it.

Thanks for the info about Samsho... looks like I'll pick that one up.

I'll be in Hong Kong for a long time... I'm leaving sometime soon. Anyone ever go there before?
Been there a few times to visit relatives. If you're in the Kowloon area there's a electronic shopping centre called Golden Computer Centre, that have shops that sell games and stuff.

Projec Justice is better in terms of a fighter, but Rival Schools wins in the extras. I love all the extra games and modes... so badass. I still have my complete original copy :)

Well, I'm not so much looking at whether Project Justice is better as much as if Rival Schools 1 is different enough that it's worth hanging onto. IIRC, the gameplay is slightly more methodical, but I don't know what I'm talking about.

If you want difference, then yes, get Rival Schools... has Razo which is a character that never came to Project Justice... worlds worst character model but I liked his play style.

Is Razo the huge old dude with blonde hair?

After playing SamSho 2 trial version on XBLA I was tempted to buy it. It still plays great. If it was 400 points I would've caved.
