Is eveyrone starting to play 3S on Live? This is 3S from the Anniversary Collection right? Not some Marketplace download? If it is from the AC then I'm down. I suck at 3S, but I'd like to play some people I know for a change.

This is the first time I've been tempted to get an xbox. I have SF:AC at work since we have a huge game room they put together for us, but no one else plays so it's lame. I'd love to jump in on this.

QUESTION: If I buy an Xbox and a cheapest-possible Live account, can I play with y'all? Do I need a 360? Do I need a certain type of Live account?

You can play against us even with a regular XBox... as for the Live Account, you just need to get the standard account as far as I know.
 
I totally wish I could get in on this 3s action. :(

holy crap, I haven't posted anything in a super hella long time.

alright, so i'm playing godhand right now and I"m loving the customization of everything. so far it's the most enjoyably frustrating game i've played in quite some time. I just wish the camera was better.

all this 3s talk has me considering getting a 360. there's just something about it thought that still hasn't convinced me in buying one.

so I went down to my local arcade (i'm surprised there's still people inside) but it's holding up strong and had some fun playing random people in SSF2. I used 'gief and fought a lot of shotos and a really good Chun li player. I then decided to play some kof XI (seriously, this arcade has just about every fighter ever) and got corner raped by some guy's kyo. snk games are hard as hell for me to play using a stick. there's just something about the button lay-out that's just too hard for me to get comfortable with.

And gigan, you don't need a 360 just to play 3s (unless you were planning on getting one for other games anyway)--a used xbox w/a live account will work fine.

Sorry, Jim. I didn't actually try it myself as I don't play Mugen. I kind of wanted to try it on my old linux box, but since elecbyte went away, I just never got around to trying to install it.

Is the button layout in that strait line like A B C D? If so I also dislike it. But KOF XI is awsome. It's sad that they make so many cool new characters but people still use the same old Kyo, Iori, Robert and other shoto wannabes. Since XI has no Billy I go with Duck King, Shen Woo, & Gato. I usually dislike playing the little cute girls, but Momoko is an amwsome new character. Her style reminds me of Angel's.

As far as I know, KOF XI is a 5-button game like pretty much all the Atomiswave games out there. I'd assume the layout looks like:

I don't mind playing as the ladies. Jenet and kula are some of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with duck king kim or clark.

In my layout, I meant that the top row is light punch, strong punch, and the break/burst/whatever they called it... just in case you thought I meant light punch and light kick were in the top row.

I only played it once in the arcade myself and I remember it being that way. Maybe some cabinets are diffrent. Anyone else have it for the PS2? I'm curious if anyone else did all 40 missions? They were alot of fun, I wish there were more. They had some cool missions like use Shen Woo and defelct all the projectiles in Kings LDM or use Geese and defeat Terry with only counters. Geese is the man!!!

Sorry for the double post but Neo Geo is showing intrest in the PS3 network and the Wii's virtual console. They said expect stuff this summer. Do you think Nintendo will add the Neo Geo system to the Virtual Console or just add on some SNK games that came out for the SNES & Genisis? Hopefully they add on the system.

Rodimus, to answer both your questions, I was able to finish almost every mission. There are like 3 I couldn't do, and I remember Geese being one of them. I remember it being insanely tough and I give you props for beating it.

As far as the NeoGeo things go, I'm pretty sure that the VC is going to add NeoGeo as a system to download from, not the console ports. I can't say the same for PS3 but I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that they'll be arcade ports. That would be hella fucking stupid if they released their (generally) bad arcade ports.
 
^ I was gonna cry if I had to see the SNES or Genisis ports of Fatal Fury or AOF. I'd like to see some non fighters, like Shock Troopers 2, Last Resort, or Blue's Journey.

As for the KOF XI missions, I might be able to help you with advice. Some have little tricks or moves to SPAM the CPU. However the Geese one is pretty strait forward. I remember Terry's power waves pissed me off.

Yeah the power wave was driving me nuts. Thanks for the offer for assistance. Next time I load the game up and need some help I know who to go to.

I'd like to see some non-fighters as well, such as Magical Drop, Magician Lord, Super Spy and Shock Troopers 1 or 2, among others.

A bit off-topic, but has anyone tried the Samurai Shodown RPG? I was hoping it would have had an English translation but I doubt that will ever happen.

I've always wanted to play it. I was tempted to buy one in Japan for $15, but figured I'd never play it, and no one would buy it from me.

On an odd/funny note, I was at a tournament that also had a Magical Drop 3 machine on freeplay. Justin Wong is amazing at this game as well (I'm talking HELLA good.) Figures, right? :whistle2:#

definitely the deepest. It's amazing how much the convenience of Tekken on the XMB has taken away from my other games.

I have 3S and Neowave. I haven't played much Neowave though.
 
Tested out the HRAP2 on my DC using the EMS converter--it's awesome. I love the clickiness of the stick and the buttons automatically layout the way they're supposed to for fighting games with no config changes necessary. I still suck of course, but this is the only way to play...
 
things I've done with my 360 so far--

--deleted the previous owner's CC info (durrrrrrrrrrrr)
--froze it while checking my friend's list
--reclaimed my old white out bottle by putting it on the back vents (score!)
 
I just played for a little bit. Lag is so-so with the wifi adapter. not as bad as before.

Gonna try out 3s now

I'll probably be on for another hour or so.
