Now with Wiki Editable Goodness!!

This is a continuation of this previous thread. Since it was getting very close to the 5,000 thread mark, I figured it was time for a reset.

Post any deals you find, recommendations, requests for deals, etc. Please keep things as civil as possible. There's no such thing as a bad deal post and reviews are opinions.

Games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Apple Game Center
Apple Game Center allows you to keep a friends list, track your in game achievements, and compare with your friends. Many games are starting to support this. Currently this only runs on iPod & iPhone, but an update will be coming soon that enables this for iPad users.

Make sure to checkout the official CAG Game Center Exchange Thread. You can post your game center name and see the names of your favorite CAG'rs. You can also exchange OpenFeint & Plus+ names there.

ITUNES GIFT CARD SALES
Gamestop: 6/8 to 6/14, $25 iTunes gift card for $20

Important Notes:

1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iOS devices. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.

2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.

3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.

4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.

5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.

6. Apps can be re-downloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.

7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.

8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE or check the iTunes Store support page. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.

9. If you somehow break your iOS device, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try using one of the repair guides on iFixit to repair it yourself. Apple Stores have been known to give discounts if you bring in a iOS device that they will not fix since it's not in warranty. This discount however is very small.

10. Using a screen protector can extend the life of your device. Most stores carry these, but they can be hard to install. The best I have personally used are made by a company called Power Support. They have both clear and anti-glare protectors. They are easier to install because the protector is a firm yet thin piece of plastic. Two come in a pack, average price I've seen is $20. Griffin Technologies and Zagg are also very good.

11. Universal Apps have a small plus sign in the upper left corner next to their price. They can be played natively on both the iPad and iPod/iPhone. iPhone games that are not universal can still be played on the iPad with a lower resolution. Non universal iPad games cannot be played on the iPhone.

Feel free to add games, genres or move titles as needed. This list is to give CAGs a chance to catch up on missed high-quality games and to get new users started on "can't miss" titles to download for their new idevice.
Hmm already have NBA Jam, Dead Space, Scrabble, Need for Speeds, Battlefield lol.....looks like a sports round for me, already grabbed Tiger Woods 12 and will more than likely grab FIFA 11 and Fight Night.

Cant recommend NBA Jam and Dead Space more...they are complete steals at 99 cents.
Thanks for the recommendation. Bought Dead Space (thought it downloaded for $9.99 at first) and hoping Jam for iPad is included in the price drop. Didn't hit yet.

Grabbed NBA Jam and waiting for the Dead Space price to get straightened out.

Been waiting for Jam to go on sale for a while!
There are a bunch of hidden object games for the iPad are appropriately on sale for Easter $.99 each. Don't know which ones are good, if anyone can give out recommendations that would be cool.

Dead Space for iPad is still showing as $9.99 for me. Was the 99 cents a price mistake? I hope not. I did pick up Scrabble for iPad for 99c, one copy for me and one for my Mom.
If you have a jailbroken iPad, you can always use FullForce to make it run in native resolution.
Sure, but with giant-sized controls. Not a great solution unless you just want to stare at it.

Rock Band Reloaded HD for the iPad just got priced down to $2.99 from its original $9.99. Just picked it up along with Dead Space HD :D

Fellas read a couple pages back. It is not a glitch but a sale that is being modified which is why prices keep going back and forth.

Getting kinda pissed off the Atomi browser. When I close and reopen it, it wipes out half the tabs I had open. Sometimes even if I lower it to multitask. Anyone else having this issue and is there a browser that doesn't do this?

Ok, Dead Space for iPad, Max and the Magic Marker HD and Reckless Racing HD are all showing up as 99c in iTunes, even though not in the App Store on my iPad. I bought all three. Still mulling over Pictureka for iPad. Also showing up as 99c in iTunes, but not once I click on it to see the details. The other three I verified in my purchase history as having been 99c each. Yeah!

Got Dead Space HD plus Max and the Magic Marker for iPad. Not sure of getting Scrabble since I play Words With Friends. Is Rock Band Reloaded worth it for $3?

The prices keep fluctuating and I can't figure out the rhyme or reason for it. I did verify my purchases were $0.99, but it's irritating.

^NBA Jam for the iPad just came out today, I don't think it's going to go on sale for a while, would be nice though

Decided to get NBA Jam because it works on my iPod touch. About to start playing Dead Space for my iPad and will probably get the iPhone version as well if it works on my iPod but I doubt it. It would be nice if EA wasn't so greedy and started making universal apps, I guess I can't complain with them only being $.99 ea.
Man NBA is so good at this price I had to get if gifted for my gf (love that apple came up wit that)
Same here!
From what I've heard, Sims: Ambitions is better than Sims 3. I have Ambitions and thought it was pretty well done.
Thanks dude. I ended up just picking up Ambitions instead of getting both. Based on reviews I read, this one is the best of the Sims games on iPhone. So I ended up getting this, Dead Space, and NBA Jam. Awesome sale!

This is awesome, almost bit on NBA JAM back when it was $5 and Ive been wanting Dead Space since it came out... awww man. Anyone know how Fight Night Champion is?

Yeah I wished they were universal as well. Really wanted to play Reckless Driving on my iPhone.

Anyone know if any other companies are going to have an Easter sale besides EA and Sega?

I've used it exclusively for the past 6 months and I've never had that happen. How many tabs are you keeping open at a time? Also, delete and reinstall; that always seems to help.

Doesn't really matter how many in my cicumstance, but usually about 7-8. Been using a lot less lately because of this issue but it still happens.

It's ok on my end. I just leave my tabs open and refresh each time I reopen it. I'd try killing the app, if that doesn't work reboot, then I'd try reinstalling. I don't know if it keeps your bookmarks if you delete it though, but if you imported them before, you know how easy it is to do again.
How do you check your purchase history?
I just checked mine, click on your name, then Purchase history about 2/3 down on the page.
Got Dead Space and Risk so far for the iPad. Debating about the Marker Max game...
I had max for the pc, it lends itself much more to a tablet or ipad. I picked it up for a buck. IGN was very so-so on it.
"Despite these problems, Max & the Magic Marker has some good things going for it. Its colorful, childlike art and perky soundtrack will immediately draw you in and the fun of figuring out which shapes to draw in order to solve a challenging puzzle will appeal greatly to fans of platforming brain-teasers. Unhappily, what fun there is is undermined by squirrelly jumping controls and an overabundance of too-similar levels. In the end, the game walks a fine line between charming/ challenging and repetitive/irritating and determining which side of the line it falls on for you depends entirely on your personal store of patience. "

^I haven't played max, but I don't really put much weight in what ign says about iOS stuff. Toucharcade, pocketgamer, slidetoplay, ect are much better sources IMO.

Profitvile HD is on sale for 1.99 from 4.99. It's a puzzle game that kind of has a time management feel to it. 10tons made it, the developer behind Sparkle and Azkend.

Does anyone know if Rock Band Reloaded is going to dip to .99 or is it just on sale at 2.99?

Edit: Also if the original Rock Band app is going on sale at all?
Is dead space already back up to $6.99??? I don't see it for $.99

Edit: Im retarded, didn't go up till just now.
Just got it for $0.99 so it may be back down again.

I had issues with AWB crashing and losing everything (it's working fine now) but yeah Mercury Web Browser is a pretty good alternative.

Just picked up Dead Space, NBA Jam, Sims 3 & Sims Ambitions. I don't game much on my phone but they'll be fun to have for when I'm bored some time away from home.

You're not retarded. It's the sale. Every time I refresh the page of EA games in the app store they show different prices. Hopefully things will stabilize tonight.

Don't know if I'll ever get around to playing it (never played the console games), but I grabbed Dead Space on a whim. Also bought Max. Thanks to all who've contributed!

thanks alot to all who continually contribute to this topic.

i haven't visited the thread since a bit before the other one died off. please tell me....did i mis an Infinity Blade drop? tia.

Hmmm ... FF III for ipad ... pricey at $16.99 ... but I think I might bite. Couldn't justify $15.99 for the iphone version ... but for an HD version ... I just might have to grab it.
Can you play the iphone/ipod games on the ipad ?
Yes, only downside is that the visuals are upscaled.

Thanks I just played Tetris for ipod/iphone and it looked fine.
Anyone know if any other companies are going to have an Easter sale besides EA and Sega?
EA pulled this for Christmas and lots of devs followed suit and dropped their apps to a buck. Don't be surprised if this thread gets a boost tomorrow.

Yes, they will just be expanded..so they look pixelated.
