Jushin "Thunder" Liger's wrestling topic

Yeah if you watch in slow frame before USA/TSN blacked out for those few seconds you could see Lita exposed if you know what I mean.

Lame RAW outside of the Angle/HBK vs Carlito/Masters match. This is the first time I have watched in eons. I might record next week's RAW just for Angle vs HBK but other then that I don't feel like I have been missing much.

Am I wrong in assuming that Angle or Michaels is going to Smackdown after next week? I thought I picked up on Mcmahon saying something like "after next week the loser is out"

It looks to me like they are going to align Flair with Cena. If that doesn't get him cheered, nothing will. Nothing.

Now that Edge is champ, he should do something to spice up his look, like when Christian cut his hair when he became IC champ. New tights, a different hair color, something. Ideas (especially sarcastic ones)?

So Batista has a triceps injury in addition to his back injury? I say, put the belt on Mysterio. He's been carrying the brand for awhile, and it'd be a great parallel to Edge's win since they teamed for awhile, back when the "Smackdown Six" (Angle, Benoit, Edge, Mysterio, Eddie, Chavo) were having PPV-quality matches every week.

9:00 rolled around tonight while I was playing Xbox and I had absolutely no desire to turn on Raw. Has anybody else gotten to the point where they just have almost no interest in WWE anymore?

RAW was a bit on the crap side tonight, wasn't it?

Also, since Cena and Edge are wrestling at Royal Rumble, what does this mean about the Flair vs. Edge situation? Are they going to finish the Flair/Edge feud soon, or what?

Also, don't know if this was mentioned while I was gone:

There is a rumor going around that Vince McMahon wants Bret Hart to appear at WrestleMania 22, and act as a special guest referee for a Vince McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels match.

Yeah, like that's going to happen. Bret says that he just wants an apology, and he'll be happy to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. However, I don't think he'd want to be a referee, or for that matter, do anything related to the screwjob storyline.
It's was a barely decent RAW to me. Why did Cena quote Allen Iverson? That threw me.
Raw was in Pennsylvania.

As for cisco's comment... no I've seen a lot worse than this. Nothing could make me not tune in.

Impact is just as good the second time around. Whoever's not watching... tune in NOW before Aries/Strong/Shelley vs. Styles/Sabin/Daniels. Awesome match.

Considering your sig you might be just a little bit biased to the current state of Raw.:)

No. No one here has any fucking idea what "Lita exposed" means.

At this point it's safe to say I'm addicted, although most of the time now Raw is just on in the background while I talk to my girlfriend on the phone or fuck around online... there was a brief period of time around say 94-95ish that I stopped watching wrestling for the most part, but then the nWo revived my interest.

I stopped watching from just after the brand split, started watching again about two or three weeks before this last Taboo Tuesday. I sorta kept up with the news and such during the long while, but never watched at all. I really don't know what made me start to watch it again.

Tell me about it. It has been like that for me for really the past few years with only brief times of actual excitement for the product (ie: Benoit's quest to the title and the brief title run). I guess the thing for me is that WWE just doesn't have that energetic excitement to their product. I just don't feel the love if you know what I mean. The booking is stale in terms of wrestling and as of lately it seems like Steph and the rest of the booking team want to keep pulling things that might draw controversy towards the product (including tonight's "main event"between Edge and Lita - partial nudity and all).

Perhaps one of the main reasons why I'm a TNA fanboy/mark is the fact that I feel the love frrom TNA's overall product. Yes TNA has their weakness, flaws, and problems much like everything else does from Don West (god someone get rid of him ASAP) to the somewhat awkward camera work and editing to - yes - some of the wrestlers needing a little more identity and personality given to them. What I mean by that is, say, who is Roderick Strong? Why is he in TNA? What are his goals? Who does he like? Who does he hate? Does he hate you? Does he like cheap video games found on CheapAssGamer.com? Stuff like that. Even basic stuff can go a LONG WAY towards helping connect more people towards the product (which in turn helps buyrates, merchandise sales, etc etc etc).

Getting back to my main point about the WWE... I don't expect every single match on RAW or SmackDown to be a five star main event calibar match but at least each show should have some decent TV quality matches, decent build up of characters and storylines, and a semblence of a good (to even great) TV main event on a consistant basis. I really wish WWE's product was better than it is. As a wrestling fan I just feel let down whenever I try to watch a WWE show. Perhaps when TNA finally is big enough to pose as a major threat then the WWE might pick up in terms of quality but until then I have a feeling nothing is going to change.

I don't know if I really feel the love for wrestling that I used to. Of course, I always watch WWE every week with my brother; that's just a time-honored tradition. But it gets to the point where we just DVR it and catch it late Monday night or sometime during the week. It's nothing where we must be home at 8 p.m. to watch it live.

I had some fun earlier this week watching an old World Class Championship Wrestling event. I'm probably only one of a few (if any) that remembers or used to watch WCCW. Anyway, it made me feel like a little kid again when I watched it.

I mean, we all knew that the wrestling was "fake" back in those days... but I... well, I can't really describe it. We knew that the wrestlers were going out there to make money and such and put on a show, but their promos... wow... those wrestlers made us love them and care about them. If you all get a chance, check out Michael PS Hayes of the Freebirds cut a promo. Along with others such as Jake Roberts, Michael Hayes was just pure magic on the microphone, cutting a promo.

I was still a young'un, so I don't remember it well... but I know that one time the family took me to see WCCW here in town. The main event was Michael PS Hayes vs. Kerry Von Erich in a scaffold match. If you all are familiar with the Freebirds and Von Erichs, you'll know that they feuded for several years (and made a shitload of money from it; the beautiful thing was that even though this feud ran for several years, we never tired of it). There wasn't a single soul in the building that didn't want to skin Hayes alive; they all thought that there was no way that Kerry would lose...

Kerry was knocked off the scaffold. As his body hit the ring, the building went completely silent. Everyone was in utter shock! How could Kerry lose?

When's the last time you all felt like that? When was your heart into wrestling, when you truly cared about the "characters" in the ring? When were you last truly shocked... or felt happiness... or anger at something that happened in the ring? In other words... when did you feel the "magic" that wrestling used to have?

It's not fair, Jack. You had that great wrestling in Texas. I grew up 3 hours from Chicago and 2 from St. Louis. I had to beg just to go to my first wrestling show, a WWF house show in Champaign, IL, on September 27, 1997, after I had been watching for at least 6 and 1/2 years. :/

As for the last time I cared about the characters... I cared about Edge winning the title. I lost sleep due to my excitement. I spent the entire NHL 2K6 game last night with Flybrione discussing Raw, and then talked to my friends Nik and Rachael about the show for 2 hours.

I still love wrestling, I still watch it daily, and I still want to be a wrestler. I watch Raw, SD, Heat, Velocity, Impact, and 2 lucha shows every week.

Wow, this topic sure exploded in the day and a half I avoided it to try and avoid spoilers. It was good to see the WWE do something extremely unexpected at NYR -- even if this ends up being a weak feud/angle, it's nice to know that there's still some uncertainty in the product.

Edit: You've gotta be shitting me.

According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who has done work with many wrestlers, and who WWE.com reported yesterday was going to be looking at Batista, suffered a heart attack over the weekend.

I still think that the "Smackdown Curse" I've been theorizing may be more than just theory.

I hope Dr. Andrews is all right.

So, if Dr. Andrews has to get out of the business due to his heart attack... does anyone know who's the next best doctor around in that field? I know that Dr. Andrews must have hundreds (maybe even thousands) of clients; he's the best there is.

According to lordsofpain.net lita's nip was not cut out in the UK.

WWE did a photoshoot of several of the WWE Divas in cheerleader outfits several months ago. However, WWE never released the photos because three of the divas that participated in this shoot were suddenly gone from the company soon after the shoot took place. Jackie Gayda and Joy Giovanni participated in the shoot, they were suddenly released in July. Lauren Jones also appeared in the shoot, but she left in June to go film a reality show of some sort. She was on pay-per-appearance deal though.

Brock Lesnar arrived to Japan last week with the former Rena "Sable" Mero. It looks she will have to be referred to as Rena Lesnar now as Brock referred to her as his wife upon his arrival to Japan. Apparently, the two reconciled and have recently gotten married. Brock and Rena are now living together in a house either next door or right down the street from Road Warrior Animal (Joe Laurinaitis) in the Minneapolis area.

Brock Lesnar is 28 years old, whereas Rena is 38 years old. Many people don't believe the age that Sable claims she really is as she looks somewhat older facially than the average 38 year old female. She was really only 35 years old when she returned to WWE in 2003, her real birthday, which is August 8, 1967, and thus she really is 38 years old. She was Lesnar's current age, 28, when she signed her first WWE contract in 1996.

well im still happy i got my rumble tix as the rumble is my fav ppv.. but since they made it 15 raw and 15 smackdown, they usually dont have many suprise participants like the 02(i think) rumble which was awesome

Both main events look like garbage.. edge and cena and batista and henry

Yeah, that kick was botched. HBK's foot wasn't even close to Daivari's face. Bad camera angle they chose to go with.

In this issue:

Vince gives Joey Styles some criticism... Jim Ross to return?... Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon at WrestleMania?... and Hogan confirmed for a match at WrestleMania.

As noted several days ago, Vince McMahon gave Joey Styles a meeting two weeks ago prior to RAW letting him know that he needed to work on his announcing style. Vince was very open about telling Styles what he was doing wrong and what he wanted from him. Sources report that Joey is going to need to learn that he is not calling 'ECW matches' and that if he wants to stay on RAW long-term, he'll need to change his ways. Styles is a great play by play announcer, although WWE has one way and that is Vince's way. Styles has been very vocal in the past about WWE's over-the-top storylines. He was also nearly silent for the sex segment on RAW last night. It's amazing what a WWE contract can do to one person.

The 1/6 edition of Smackdown did a 3.1 broadcast rating.

Advertisements for the February 3, 2006 RAW brand house show in Lakeland, FL are advertising Triple H vs. John Cena “for the WWE Championship.” It’s obvious that these commercials were made in advance, while it was said that the title change to Edge was a last minute call.

The same advertised match is also on for the February 4, 2006 house show in Macon, GA.

It’s been a few months since the “firing” of Jim Ross on RAW. It’s now being reported that WWE wants to bring Ross back to the product in some sort of role. As of right now, it is not said what role Ross would play if he comes back or not. Current to my understanding it is all up to Jim Ross if he wants to come back or not.

Basically WWE is experiencing “Not Appreciating what you have until it’s gone,” within the highest levels of the company. It’s up in the air right now.

As far as Jim Ross’s health is concerned, its been passed that Ross is doing very well and feeling a lot better now, and if he did return to production, I couldn’t see him as anything but the voice of RAW.

Bret Hart was recently approached with the idea of doing a short match with his arch nemesis Vince McMahon at Wrestlemania. The basis idea of the match would be that Vince would run into Bret's fist, get put in the sharpshooter and then it would be over as McMahon would tap out. Hart politely declined doing the match. He is supposed to be with his wife on vacation in Italy during Wrestlemania anyways.

Hulk Hogan is currently on crutches because Big Show stepped on his foot while they were shooting a movie a few weeks ago. Hogan should be off the crutches by the time Wrestlemania rolls around though. He is slotted to wrestle in a match at Wrestlemania, although, his opponent hasn't been finalized. A match with Steve Austin doesn't seem likely. There's a chance he may wrestle John Cena, but that's not likely either. Hogan's likely opponent for Wrestlemania will either be Kurt Angle or The Big Show.

That MySpace link for NYR sucks. The site where the download is located must be shitty, because it took 3 hours for me to download an OVW match from it last week, and NYR would take 36 hours!

Am I the only one, Matt excluded, that is excited by this title change? I briefly posted a page or two back, but I thought it was great how that swerve was thrown in (from what I've heard, at the last minute no less) and Edge was given the title. It's surprising and refreshing to see Vince finally acknowledge that the fans don't really like Cena, and I think that in acknowledging it, it gives Cena more credibility -- the promo he cut last night made more sense and was much more entertaining than the promos he's been cutting for the past month or so where he's been ignoring the mixed reactions of the crowd and just continuing on with his scripted and predictable gay jokes. I think going this route is going to help Cena out in the long run, giving the fans a break (hopefully) and giving Cena some time to work on the areas that he's lacking in.

I was also extremely impressed by the showing of Masters and Carlito in the Chamber and even on Raw. You knew that they weren't going to win the Elimination Chamber, but having Michaels and Kane both do the job gives them some credibility and makes the young guys look like much more formidable competition than they did before the Chamber match.

I'd have to say that right now I'm a lot more excited about WWE than I have been in a while. The bookers have come out of the slump in my opinion and have some good, new stuff to work with right now, and I hope they don't fuck it up by just throwing the strap back on Cena and pretending like the month of January never existed.

Edit: If you need a PWT invite Matt, hit me up with a PM.

Places I used to get media from: nexusinc.us and pwtorrents.net (wait, can I post these links on CAG?). Nexusinc has the full PPV right now. PWTorrents has the PPV as well and they usually have PPVs within a few hours of the original airing.

Thanks, but I can't use torrents. I'm on my stepdad's PC and cannot install any torrent clients without his password... and he won't allow it. :(

I don't watch Raw or WWE very often but I watched enough to really hate Cena. Last night's promo kind of changed that. I like the struggle against the power while the fans are mixed angle. It shows, like you said, that Vince and the rest of WWE finally is admitting that they can't force us to like a certain wrestler. I also find Cena more respectable because he's saying, like me, hate me, I'm here. I'm not saying I'm a fan now but that definetly softned my hatred for him a bit.
