Kmart: New 3DS XL $100, PS4 $200, Splatoon $30

I was able to get the new 3ds xl earlier at best buy for my wife. Got home at a quarter til 10 and saw the ps4 and decided to go to the nearest walmart (3 minute drive) and try to pm it. One of the easiest pms ive ever had at walmart. Associate rang it up adjusted the price and the manager came over said sweet deal and punched her code. Thanks to the CAGs who contributed tonight!

Your "Gamer of a Budget" member title is accurate.

I'm a frequent lurker and very rarely post anymore but I had to share my story.

I come across deals like this every once in awhile as all of you do and usually immediately scoff at it.  I think that for this deal to work there has to be a perfect combination of events, such as some completely clueless employee and approval from the Grand Ayatollah while being escorted out of the building by stormtroopers never to show your face at that store again.

I looked at the ad on my phone and got a thought in my head, "why not me, why not today?"

I first went to Wal Mart and tried to pick up a PS4.  The two rarely showered employees immediately looked at the ad on my phone with disbelief and went to the interwebs to do some digging.  After a brief wait they told, "I don't think so, Scooter"  I laughed it off thinking, Oh well it was worth a shot.

But for some reason, I couldn't shake the idea of "why the fuck not?"

I took a 15 minute drive to a Best Buy.  I stood around the video game section waiting somewhat impatienly for a floor employee to give me some help, thinking if I started the conversation with them on the floor and brought it up to the counter then it should work.  After being ignored for a bit, I figured screw it.  Grabbed a PS4 from the shelf.  Boldly walked up the counter and said, "I want to price match." I showed him the ad.  He scans.  He changes the price.  I swipe.  I sign. I leave.

I was in shock, ecstatic, disbelieving that such ridiculous luck could happen so quickly.  But then greed came over me as it does all of us from time to time.

I wanted that shiny brand new New DS XL too damn it!  But I can't go back in there, I felt like I just robbed the damn place and they would hold me down the back room to interrogate me with buzzsaw and hammers.

Alas, another bright idea came popping in my mind like a 1970's Marvel comic thought bubble.  Why not go to another Best Buy you rascal?

So I did.  Drove the 100 blocks east to another Best Buy.  Had the employee grab the new NEW DS Xl from the locked case. Showed ad. Scan. Change price. Swipe. Sign. Have a good day sir.

And to you as well I say!

I was as giddy as a school girl. I've got baby fist pump meme running through my head while playing Travis Scott loud for the whole world to hear.

To add some ridiculous cherries on top, I was driving a loaner from the dealer while my car was getting factory recalled.

And tommorrow, in 34 minutes, it is my birthday.

Good night. And good luck.

After 45 mins, going through 6 different employees, and a few close calls, I got denied a n3DS XL at Walmart. : (

So frustrating. Not even going to bother with bb.

Does the electronics section close early at Walmart.
What about Customer service section for the price match, or do they just call over a on duty manager?
Trying to see if it's worth going now since it's late.
Tried calling but got no answer if course
Thanks

Which PS4 did you get?

Was it for the PS4 or 3DS?
3DS. They were young, so I'm not gonna blow my top off for them not knowing how to use it correctly. The Manager was in a rush anyways, and didn't care. She kept coming every minute to put her code in, but they couldn't manage to use the price match tool. This is the Walmart I always go to concerning price matching at the electronics section because no one cares.

How did it go?
No go for me unfortunately. I spoke to the guy in electronics and he said sure, I'll bring it up front. Of course he brings me to the customer service manager. She looks at my phone and goes, let me check the website. Then she goes on about the $90 PS4 from Amazon, and whatever. She gives me her phone, and I pull up the item, and it seemed like it was a good. In the end, she didn't price match it because it wasn't the same system. No biggie. Just wanted to try my luck. Good luck trying to get either system.

It was that or the Last of Us bundle

Should I have gotten the other one?

I wanted to try out the n3DS, and it doesn't come with a charger??  Wow, I must really be out of the loop on this one but seems a little ridic.

Oh definitely not. Batman one for sure but just wondering because I'm going to try tomorrow. Struck out at Walmart and one of the people there was trying to say that it couldn't be the Batman one, has to be the plain.

Dammit I was so close tonight. I came in to the electrpic section and two ladies were working there. They seemed pretty laid back, and so I asked if anyone had price matched a ps4 that night. They said no, but someone had price matched a 3ds, so I figured it was a good sign. I showed the ad, and got it all rung up and the girl was about to call someone for approval, but then this "walmart is life" employee showed up and asked about the price and asked to see my ad. She then said sternly "This items out of stock, why would we sell it to you if they can't?". Albeit she was right, but I was feeling so good about it. I should have known it wouldn't be that easy.

lol... Some of you guys have no shame at all!!! The thread should be changed to how to scam a clueless employee at Walmart/Best Buy into making a price match.

Does Kmart even physically sell anything gaming related online?

i feel your pain. I Got the caring wal mart employee too *cries*

Thank you OP, I was able to pick up the 3DS.  I wasn't very optimistic going into it and wasn't even going to try at all but I figured what the heck, the worst they can say is no and I would have wasted a little of my evening.  To my surprise I was able to price match at BBY.  What is weird is that the manager didn't have to come over to override anything. In the past price matching a considerably less amount would have required the need of a manager to enter the pin.  I guess BBY's policy changed recently?

Depends on the person who was assisting you/working. I remember it was around closing time the guy just glanced on my phone at amazon's price and just price match it for me with no problems without calling anybody... It is very YMMV and everyday it'll be a different experience with price matching.

1. It isn't a scam. The fact that there are different prices for different zips shows it is just KMart clearing inventory from their remaining videogame stock.

2. KMart most definitely does sell videogame items on their online site. I just bought The Order: 1886 for $3 on there 2 weeks ago.

3. It is not our fault they are clueless. That is no excuse but they do price match items from the online store. We have no idea if these are in stock or not (since the site does say it is in stock at local stores). It is employees job to check if it is. If they don't want to, so be it. No one is losing their job over this.

OOS online?

EDIT: Didn't know about the other Kmart thread, this thread might get merged with that one.

It never was in stock. You will need to be lucky enough to find an employee at another store to price match it. It will mostly likely be dead by morning.

it is a scam because the page does not exist its a glitch and kmart does not sell ps4 or new 3ds consoles

They most certainly do. Not "all" Kmarts do b/c they are clearing out inventory of videogames but they do sell them in store and online. The standard PS4 console is most definitely sold at all stores that still have it in stock.

The pages are available right now. The prices on those pages were taken down b/c it sold out online. Kmart tends to drop pages once something has sold out and is not coming back in stock.

Wow, this thread went 1 whole page without trolls. Sounds like some may be down on luck and a little bitter. I wish you much luck and good cheer for this Christmas in August event.

anyone recommend any good cases for the new 3ds xl?

I got the3ds xl with the duplex protector. Wonder how much i can get for a 3ds xl?
Hori makes a clear Duriflex (or TPU) Protector that guards against scratches. That one is great if you need minimal protection and want to keep the system as slim as possible in your pocket. However, if you want something to protect against scratches and shock, I've heard many recommend Nerf, but I've never tried those myself. If anything, I highly recommend a Hori Screen Protector, if only for sanity's sake. I find them easy to apply, durable, and much easier to clean than the screen itself.

During the last week of May, I sold my Old 3DS XL (Red/Black in like new condition with stylus/no SD card) on Ebay. Started at $0.99, but only went for $90 after 7 days. Which was fine, since I was only selling to get that "match up to $100" coupon.

Still, the Old 3DS XL seems to be a hard sale. Maybe you can still get more with an SD card included. Anyhow, good luck. :)

You don't read do you, guess I have to further explain to you. When it is sold out online the page is pulled, that doesn't mean they are sold out in store. Which is why for some the price and in stock is showing for the mobile link. Also why people have different prices.

Also, thanks for repeating what I said. Yes, all Kmart's and Sears are phasing out games, but not all are out of videogame stock.

I'm not going to go into a moral debate, all I'm going to say is that your old enough to know right and wrong. Stop making excuses and man up for once in your life.

they have been out of stock since march, and no kmart or sears stores around me has even 1 video game, most of them are out and sold, kmart and sears dont care. ps4s went oos in march when they were %20off and gamestop does the same thing by discounting things that are oos and never going to come back. the only way to get the ps4 or 3ds is to scam the employee if you ran a store i doubt you would accept the price match its not a legit sale.

Yep. This whole thread should "man up" and not take part in the deal. Yes everyone, please return what you bought today and "man up".

Yes, ONLINE they have been out of stock since March. Not ALL stores are OOS of it. Again, the reason for the different prices and the fact people got it when it was in stock this morning.

Don't get me wrong though. If you are denied this deal it isn't the end of the world. It isn't in stock locally for majority of people. It can't be found on the website either. But no, it is not a scam to attempt a price match. A scam is the Amazon to Walmart PM situation that was happening before PMing merchant prices and creating fake listings. This, on the other hand, is nothing like that.

How fitting. Calling someone a moron and they don't know the difference between "your" and "you're ". =\

Hmmm, I can only wonder if you're sitting out on any and all BestBuy and AWD glitches. I would hope so, since that would be properly consistent with your stance.

For those who prefer a design case, I rather liked this PDP hard case.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-system-case-for-new-nintendo-3ds-xl-3ds-xl-3ds-and-2ds-green/5205374.p?id=1219647460781&skuId=5205374

It's a little more slippery in the hands than the TPU, but it's super cute. They also have Mario and Zelda if that's more to your tastes. :p

I am that guy. Today I scammed my local best buy by purchasing a new 3ds XL for an extremely low price that could not be obtained from k mart itself since it was out of stock online and I know my local store got rid of their gaming section long ago. I assume many of the people who got in on this deal are in my shoes. We took advantage of a store's incompetence (apologies Hubert if you take offense :p) to get items at prices that most likely were under what the store itself pays for them. I won't try to justify what I did, but I'm still going to sleep fine today. I don't mind taking advantage of a large scale corporation.
