Maybe give an example of each class by explaining a simple hero (for example Ashe for Ranged DPS or Garen for melee, Nocturne for jungle, Annie for mage, Sona for support, Chogath for tank) and give a basic run-down of their abilities (or just 1 ability each) as to why they are in that category of class.
When explaining towers/nexus, explain how you cant just go to the 2nd turret and skip the first, you gotta go in order for each lane.
Maybe explain the importance of "bushes" to hide and how wards can counter that.
Explain how in traditional RPG's your items carry over between play sessions, but in a MOBA, you basically start with no items and work your way up in items every game.
How LOL has the biggest # of viewers for an e-sport, over 100,000 simultaneous viewers for Dreamhack last year. LOL is bigger than SC2 in Korea
When explaining about "carrying a game", talk about FlipprDolphin.
When explaining about "feeding", talk about Waughoo.
You can tower skip (backdoor) in many mobas.
There are no bushes in most moba games.
Maybe mention meta-rules. Compare it to house rules in board games. Related to backdooring, its seen is an unsportsmanlike strategy by many players so its sort of a social taboo to backdoor even though the game allows it. Also those dumb ass all random all mid games in LoL. People lose their shit if you don't play by their imaginary rules.
Mention Fog of War, maybe talk about its relationship to the military term. Its very interesting I think that games in general have adopted this idea into a very literal sense.
You said your goal was to explain mobas, don't get too focused on LoL-only features unless you're doing a section on how the games differ. Bushes imo are stupid, but more importantly not a normal part of the moba genre.
