Looks like Fred Meyer is clearing out some of their sets at 60% off, and don't forget the additional 10% off coupon. A few different Racers sets, most of the Cars Duplo sets, along with a couple of other ramdom things all were marked down today. I picked up:
IJ Canal Chase 7197 - $14.40
SP Freeze Ray Frenzy 5970 - $3.60
Duplo Mater's Yard 5814 - $7.20

Other stores may have a different selection so it is probably worth checking out if you have a FM near you.
I finally got around to checking my 4 closest Fred Meyers today. Most of the Cars sets on 60% off were gone, but I did get the last copy of Mack's Road Trip, which is the most expensive one in the Cars series, for only 20 bucks (actually $18 with the coupon). I'm not into Cars, but my nephew will love it - you can't beat that price - the retail price is normally $50 for 34 freaking pieces! Are they kidding!
A few SW sets were not marked as being on sale, but I had a clerk scan them because I had a feeling they were (since most of their other SW had a discount). Anyway, my hunch was correct and I ended up getting several of the Snowtroopers and Hoth Rebels troop builder sets for only $6.29 each with the 10% off ad coupon!!! :D That's about 43% off of each! They also had Thunder Driller for $11.99 and the City Dump Truck for only $7.99 . Other than the sets mentioned by ackbar7, it appears the only other deeply discounted sets that my stores had were the Duplo Farm and Duplo City Themes, plus some Bionicle.
Got the mailer today for 8/6 - 8/29

Looks like the Toy Story Alien is a give away with any Toy Story 3 Lego purchase. Weird we were shipped these so early with no direction about them. Hopefully stores that sold out, will get them back in since this is a 3 week+ promo.
I knew it! Those polybagged sets are almost always involved in promos or seasonal specials. The SW minis, the Christmas tree and snowman last year, the Target Easter sets... I bet all my local stores are sold out by now.

Mailer shows the Chrome Stormtrooper as the Star Wars mini figure give away.

So is this going to be given out only if you buy a SW set? What is the item number? I missed this set the first time, although I did get the magnet one. I wonder if its true that the the bagged one is of cheaper quality? If it is, then I'm happy with my magnet Chrometrooper! :)

Chrome Stormtrooper Item # 181363.

Yes, only given out with Star Wars set purchases.

I forgot to mention -yesterday I found the new City House (# 8403 ) at Target for $39.99 (DPCI# 204-00-0507 ). It has 383 pieces and I really like it alot. The box says "Special Edition" - perhaps a Target exclusive?

^ Yeah, it was clear that was the direction LEGO was going in when they canceled Pirates last year. They went "It was a one year thing" the same week PotC4 and the Disney license were announced.

Hopefully they are more fun, and have more ships, than the last Pirate wave.

Yeah, all polybag LEGOs are pretty limited, but this particular polybag is suppose to be limited to buying something more expensive and probably limited to 1 person per day. With the SW minis, Christmas sets, and Easter sets, they were individually sold with no limit. (I had a heck of a time getting the mini-X-Wings as I was going to Target all the time and not seeing them. Then bam, they show up on clearance out of no where at one location but never saw them at the other location which was more reliable for the previous minis.)

I assume that the prices will be higher for the PotC sets to off set the license fee. I really hope to find the Imperial Flagship at a bargain but will not be surprised if that never happens. My wife picked me up Brickbeard's Bounty for $49 and though I haven't opened it yet, I really like everything about it. I kinda wish that Lego would have continued the pirate line at a lower retail price point. I am sure that PotC will be a huge seller and will sell at a higher retail price.

The PoP sets are priced correctly, Pirates seems to be a little more expensive than the other themes anyways, so I hope it's not like Star Wars prices.

Not the greatest quality, but here's a guide for those interested -

@etcrane - If you pulled those from the eurobricks thread, then you have the wrong codes. Those are EU codes, not US codes :)

(Not trying to be a dick, just letting you know)

Damn, right you are, forgot about the difference. Guess it may be awhile until we get US codes then.

Question for the board - has anyone picked up the new Hoth Wampa set? Is it worth $40, it seems a bit light on parts and I'm debating between buying that or Slave 1 (obviously I'll grab Slave 1 eventually ... just low on $$ at the moment). So should I pick up the Wampa set or skip it and just stick with Slave 1?

I purchased all the new summer sets except Palpatine's Shuttle and Cad Bane's Speeder. As for the the Wampa Set, the snowspeeder is really, really the best part of the set. The cave itself is pretty small and doesn't really justify itself for the $40. The Slave I is a really cool set, some things bug me like the missiles (works much better on the republic attack shuttle) but still a fun set.

Here are some comparison photos.

Sweet, thanks ... I think I'm going to hold off on the Wampa Set for now, I like it but it doesn't seem like a $40 set to me, maybe $30, so I'll hold out for a sale. Slave 1 looks awesome ... I know I should wait, but I think I'll be grabbing that immediately when I can find it. I don't own the older Slave 1 models, so I have no issues with the fact that it's so similar to the previous two and I like the new minifigs.

The Hoth set to me is worth $40.

1. It's a Star Wars set that isn't insanely priced.
2. The Snowspeeder is about $25, the snow dude is $5 and the cave $10, seems to be correctly priced.

Plus LEGO has always made amazing Snow Speeders, they are probably the best looking Star Wars crafts.

I picked up the TS3 alien promo at tru today. 4 bucks is better than having to spend 20 plus on a TS3 set to get a free one. The real question is if, like the holiday promo last year, buying the promo itself will qualify for a second free one. 2 for 4 would be a pretty nice way to stock up on aliens.

The Wampa set was the only one I bought when I saw the new sets. I really wanted a snowspeeder and my son really wanted the Wampa figure so that was an easy buy. I don't see the cave lasting much longer before we break it up and bag it. I feel better paying full price for smaller sets and then waiting for a future deal for the more expensive ones (and then have them out of stock:bomb:).

Star Wars Visual Dictionary $10.99, great for those of you who don't have it or just want another one for the fig.
Thanks for the deal ... I gotta say though, am I the only one who always sees this book in stores and each and every time wonder what the fuck LEGO was thinking choosing that minifigure, of all the possible cool minifigures they could have made, as the exclusive for this book.

The book itself looks cool, but that minifigure actually makes me not want to buy the book ... it's soooo damn lame, I mean hell ... will volume 2 come with Aunt Beru or maybe the guy from Cloud City who walks by the screen for 2 seconds. It's just such a lame ... long haired medal wearing luke figure ... god forbid it could be some cool looking alien or bad ass Empire figure ... sorry, just had to get that rant out of my system because I simply don't understand who thought that figure was a good idea for an exclusive.
anyone know when legos will go 75% off? tia
I haven't seen 50% off yet. I'm stalking a couple galactic enforcers that didn't get labeled though.

I was at Target Friday the 16th and then again Saturday the 24th and they had more LEGO sold out, but the PM huge $100 drill was still 50% off, I was hoping for 75% off.

The Star Wars Dictionary is now $12. The minifigure is rather lame, is it meant for children? They don't care about it. However I kind of like it, you would never get it in a normal set, I don't even know why he is wearing the thing.

Kind of an odd question here, but does anyone glue their LEGO sets? My son is about to be 3 and he really wants the LEGO Toy Story 3 Garbage Truck, but if I do get it for him and put it together I know that he'll be tearing it up and pieces will go missing in no time, so I have toyed with the idea of gluing the pieces as I put it together so that he can play with it without the fear of him tearing it apart. I was thinking of Crazy Glue...anyone have any suggestions on this?

Not sure if one even exists, but I would buy him a Toy Story garbage truck that isn't Lego. It'll be sturdier and cheaper.

This question is asked a lot by parents who go the Lego store near me. Personally, I think gluing Lego defeats the point. Especially Duplo. We pay a premium for all those little pieces. Gluing it into a regular truck/toy/whatever is not very cost efective. And that's not even getting into the sanctimonious "glue Lego?!?!?!" lecture. :D
And that's not even getting into the sanctimonious "glue Lego?!?!?!" lecture. :D
Don't get me started. The ONLY time when glued lego's is ok is when it's a display that's meant to be glued. (Like the ones you see at retail stores)

My suggestion is to hell with the "lost" pieces, you can always replace them, and they don't need to be the same color. It's Lego, for christs sake, the pieces are interchangeable!

As a suggestion - If you're so worried, you should look at some of these brick assortments. There are quite a few that have a 5 cents per part price, if not cheaper. That's one way to make sure that lost pieces aren't a big deal!

I bought and put together the set, really great set at that but falls apart real easily when heavily played with. My daughter is a little younger than your son (2yr 8mo). She really can't handle Lego's, she loves to play with them but is very ruff with them. I have a bunch of Duplo sets for her and there is no way she will misplace those pieces (even though she takes them all over the house). I recently bought her a little pink tub http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=5585-1, she is pretty good with it but we need to sit there and watch her play with it. Really cute watching her look at the instructions wanting to make things. As far as the glue goes, I don't think its a good idea to glue the pieces plus it doesn't guarantee it won't brake. There little monsters, nothing they do surprises me anymore. There is this if you prefer it, http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=5691-1 I've seen them at the Lego Store@Ontario Mills selling for 30% off. I'm not sure if they still have any more sets at the discounted price if you care to call.

I'll throw this out there since your local. I have 3 Prince of Persia sets that I purchased for 50% off at Target that I'm probably going to take back still unsure but if you want them. You can have them for the price I payed for them for $30.50 plus tax.

These are the sets,

Not interested in PoP but thanks. Also he already has some duplo sets of the garbage trucks, he's fascinated by construction vehicles and garbage trucks, I think the one for the Toy Story 3 LEGO version is pretty tight looking, I already have it, just debating on using a glue gun or crazy glue...guess I'll google and see what comes up.

I've got the "Member Shopping Day Event" TRU postcard coupon for 20% off any one item--good only on the 29th (today.) Going to go decide between that Atlantis sub-base or DQ IX.

It came in the mail a week ago--anyone else get it?

I know TRU uses a glue gun to hold there display Lego's together. Like I said though, if for some reason your son tosses it and somehow breaks apart. I'm totally guessing worst case scenario here, it would be a pain in the ass trying to put back together with all the crusted glue all over the pieces.

Wife received 20% off in an e-mail for last Friday-Saturday, I used it to pick up the Clone Turbo Tank and the price came out to around $95. Is the bogo 50% off still going on? I also picked up Atlantis Exploration HQ and Gateway of the Squid with the bogo.

TRU must not like me - I haven't received any of the recent 20% off coupons in my email, and nothing in my regular mail either. I still get rewards emails, but they are just item-specific coupons or the $5 off one. When do they mail out the actual rewards bucks? I only got them once last year a few months after I signed up - it was an envelope filled with several folded pages of coupons in black and white, including a 20% off anything and $5 in rewards bucks. It sounds like they give different stuff to different people - not a very consistent program...humph

Not to be this guy, but... those Displays/models come from lego that way :)

I just remembered the LEGO Stores glue there models and then when they are done they take them apart and sell them in the grab bags.

Target however, does like me! Oh my! I decided to see if my local non-super Target had marked down anything for this week. I get to the store and see a huge line of soccer-mom types waiting outside (no offense ladies, but that's what you looked like). I guess they knew somehow that today was 75% off day on lots of the clearance toys. I went in a bit after opening because I was making a phone call, but what I found was quite shocking. All those ladies had 2 carts each, full of toys, and were madly going through the clearance aisle! It wasn't much I was interested in from the looks of it, mostly crap really because everything good got bought at 30 and 50% off. However, they must have ignored the LEGO aisle and its endcap of clearance, where I found the following for 50% off: PM Titanium Rig, SP Galactic Enforcer, Duplo Farm, SW Separatist's Shuttle, SW Anakin's Starfighter, SP Container Heist, and SW Tank Droid. For 75% off I found several POP Ostrich Races, PM Fire Blaster, and some smaller Duplo Farm stuff and Playmobil for my daughter. "Sorry ladies, you missed the boat big time", I thought to myself! One woman noticed my cart and said, "Oh so you found all the LEGOs! You must have come back here really fast!" I said, "nope, just got here actually" and smiled. I had a clerk look up Battle of Endor DPCI and it is now only $24.xx!!! I will be back with my $50 ones and do the "return and re-buy" very soon!
Anyways, I never knew about all these Moms and the "clearance markdown day" before, no wonder I never found anything in previous years! They literally cleaned everything out in the designated clearance aisle - I just got lucky that they hadn't reset the LEGO aisle yet and had left the LEGO clearance in its original shelf location. :)

The Lego store I go to doesn't glue their models (but they do divide them into grab bags when displays are switched).

Yeah, I first noticed the phenomenon last summer. Basically if you don't time it right, everything is picked cleaned by evening. Very nice scores, by the way. Most of the stuff you mentioned isn't even on clearance at my Targets, and the stuff that is only just reached 50% (even though all other toys are 75%).

I wish the PoP sets and Battle for Endor would at least go to 30% off around here. I have had my eye on the Battle for Endor for like a month now and none of the local stores have marked them down yet. Stupid slow clearance stores.

Prince of Persia legos are still regular price at my local Target, but I did find Lego Racers Chopper Jump (8196) at 75% off for 3.78.

I received a card yesterday that's good for $5 off $25 purchase. Interesting that people get different cards.

My LEGO store just put them all out last night. The Spaceman Magnet isn't an automatic add on anymore on S@H, so for those who hit $75+, use coupon code V001 (V-zero-zero-one) at checkout.

PRIM - I'm curious... what happens to the TRU LEGO promos that are left over?

Yeah, all the displays come already set for display. Whatever they use, it's pretty strong. We've taken parts of displays that no one wants and take them outside and throw them into a brick wall. Takes a few throws to get the pieces to start coming off.

They get sold at regular price if any are left.

Target markdowns today:

City Corner $14.98

SW Battle for Endor $24.98

Here's to hoping that next week brings more drops to 75%off.

You've got some store there Zepp-Head...I've never had a store's price team do the clearance markdowns before they opened.

Has anyone actually managed to get Battle of Endor for $24.98?

Still hasn't begun the clearance cycle at any of the Targets around San Jose as far as I know.
