My target has a couple of the impulse sets. But only since they rearranged the entire toy department and now it's got an entire aisle of LEGO (too bad nothing is ever clearanced right).

Well, what is considered officially an impulse set, under $10?

Usually the $3.50 to $5 range or below that (good luck finding anything decent at TRU for less than $5 ;-) ). They're designed to be cheap enough that you don't have to think before buying ... hence the impulse ... as I understand it.

My Target ran out of the Easter impulse sets in ~5 days. I snagged the V-19, the Pirate Soldier, and the stranded Pirate one day. Less than a week later I decided to get Grevious' ship as well and everything was gone.

I did find the IJ Temple at half price. It is the most fragile lego set I've ever built and that covers many, many years.

I managed to check behind the boxes where they were sitting, and there was a handful back there, but this was full price... and the 6 or so sets I found, my wife would only let me pick 1 of each.... bah!

I have my IJ Temple sitting on top of my bookshelf in my living room. It's too big and unwiedly to put anywhere else (that 45 degree angle makes it a pain to put anywhere to display), and you don't want it to be bumped into for fear of it breaking apart.

I had to move after I built it, I actually just broke it into the different base plates and threw all the pieces into ziploc bags and then rebuilt it when I got here with whatever had fallen off (which was a lot).

The whole set is really a "great in theory" but not so great once you've put it together. A lot of the traps are really finicky as well. The biplane is really awesome though.

That's the problem with several LEGO sets now because the way they are built. The big Castle is also impossible to move, Dwarfs Mine has the same issues.

An Impulse set is a set that should be $3.50 and comes in a little box with one minifigure and some stuff for him, that's it. Everything more than $3.50 isn't part of the official Impulse line. However the Impulse sets cost $6 at TRU.

I should clarify, I got the $20 IJ Raiders of the Lost Ark set for $10. It's sort of temple-like. I'd love to find the big, rolling boulder temple on clearance but it hasn't happened for me yet.

Oh that set! I got it for $13 and yes it is horribly built. I just bought it for the tan pieces. Mine doesn't even come close to staying together.

$5? Awesome! It's a great set for pieces, the minifigures are nice, tan is nice, the load of snakes is awesome. But try building it and it doesn't snap together correctly.

I don't remember having trouble with it staying together when I built mine. I liked the two wolf looking figures on the side and the arc is pretty cool, though they should've made it so you could open it.

my Target had a temporary Price reduction for the Crawler Crane ($49.99) and the Construction Site ($89.99). Sign Said valid 4/14/09-05/04/09

The Imperial Dropship 7667 came up as NCF at the Target price checker. Does that mean they’re no longer stocking it? Anyway, it rang up at regular price, but it was the last one there.

Some people have mentioned that the NCF means that it could go on clearance soon but I haven't found that to be the case that often. Besides, Target does two Lego clearances per year - xmas and summer - and we're still a couple of months away from the summer clearance.

Target might stick a set or two on clearance that they forgot to before. I have never walked into a Target and have seen more than 2-3 sets on sale. I don't see a summer sell at all, they just stick things on sale when they feel like it.

I thought NCF meant that they no longer will sell the item, and it's supposed to be put in salvage. I have a neighbor who works there, and she says sometimes things will be 30% off and instead of going 50%, and 75%, the next thing she knows....it goes to salvage, and sold to Salvation Army or Goodwill.

A funny thing...a month ago, I returned a new train set I got on clearance, and then I went to Goodwill after hearing that people find Legos there. It was like 2 weeks later when I went in, and they had the same exact one I returned sitting on the shelves. LOl! Probably selling it for more than the clearance price too.

Not a huge deal, but through July 15th if you buy $75+ at LEGO S@H you can get a free (1 cent technically) Star Wars Shadow Trooper keychain using the code PSA2.

Picked up the Emerald Night train set from the Lego Store in Santa Clara today ... it was the last one and the box had a hole in it (nothing too bad) but I asked about the damage on the box and got it for 10% off plus a free Firefighter impulse set with the April Calendar coupon. Sadly May's coupon bonus kind of sucks since it's a set of cookie cutters.

Has anyone ordered the new RC power parts for their train collections yet? Is the set worth the $99?
Thanks skiizim, I thought Lego deals died.
Same here. There was a good dry spell there.

The Sandcrawler for $105 looks like a good deal, but I'm not going to blow that kind of cash on a Lego set before I get Medieval Market.

Well I remember when LEGO sets came out twice a year, that's it, the January wave and the summer wave. Now they just get released any way they want and are just thrown out. I think all this year's best sets come out in the summer. The City sets are better, not by a lot, Space Police is better than Star Wars, Agents 2.0 is better than Power Miners.

I'm just pissed that the new Train system is a horrible nightmare. Just to make a train run cost more than the RC passenger train.
I wished I wasn't such a poor kid when all the great sets came out... I have money now but not much to spend on...
I don’t know, I’m digging these new sets. Last weekend I put together the Victory Lap Raceway and the International Jetport and while they hold their own, they are nothing compared to the level of detail I’ve seen in the Green Grocer and the other “adult” oriented sets.

I’m definitely glad I got out of my dark ages now though before all the Castle themed sets and these other hard to find ones disappear. To be honest, I think the current Castle theme is the best to date. Better than the KK1 and KK2 at least. I do wish I had been able to get the Batman, Spider Man and Harry Potter sets before they disappeared though.

Yeah, I have fallen in love with the Castle series... and the Creator series has really shown me alot too.

But I suppose all the older sets now... harder and harder to find.

I've said it before in here I know, but I really liked last year's city sets (and 2007s for that matter), but this years have fallen completely flat for me, especially the farm and construction stuff.

And they suck.

There are only three sets and they aren't that great. I don't consider the horse carrier a Farm set.

So have you guys been hearing the rumors about some sort of LEGO SW exclusive that's only going to be included with LEGO S@H SW orders on May 3rd and 4th ... I was reading about it and people are speculating it's going to be a rare minifig ...

so put a SW set in your cart, check out and order on 3 or 4th and get a minifig?

Rumor?

yuck...

It won't be a minifigure, I'm still going with a free keychain.

Either way it's Star Wars and it's lame.

Maybe we can just wait 4-5 days.

Looks decent, especially if I can copy that for my police helicopter.
You know.... the weird thing about that set is that I've never ever seen a truck with trailer carrying a helicopter on the road in my life. Maybe it's a common thing in Europe?

It's not. No one understands where that comes from. Hess Truck had the same thing several years ago, I think it's just a good toy model to have a truck, helicopter and bike.

So I've evidently been living under a rock regarding SW LEGOs in 2009, but what's the deal with these chrome vaders. Are they a random insert in all Star Wars 2009 sets in the U.S. I love chase figures so I'm contemplating trying to hunt one down, any tips, any sets that are best bets?

Random in the new Tie Fighter set. I bought this set on day one and got the regular black Vader. I don't know the chrome/regular ratio though I think it is pretty high.

Some people have reported success with the 2009 $10 SW sets. I guess they bring a postal scale and look for the one that weights .2 oz more or something like that.

haha

cheating though... lego should add .2 more ounces of paper then.

Wouldn't the random amount of extra pieces throw this off too?

I think the $10 people are lying. I think LEGO themselves came out and said that they are randomly placed in Star Wars sets, however not the battle packs.

Umm no.

How did you get that?

Someone asked about the chrome minifigure, and I was just guessing it would be an "exclusive" keychain.

Guess who bought a scale today ;-) (needed one anyway) ... of course, no luck finding one but I did end up coming home with one of the assassin droid packs ... kind of a waste of $10 if you ask me but I guess you can't attempt to find a chrome vader without a little collateral damage to the wallet
