So it's been confirmed that in Europe the Chrome Vaders are showing up as an in-store bonus for people spending +$25 (yes I realize it would be in Euros), so would it really be that much of a stretch for LEGO to include a Chrome Vader with any purchases over a certain amount online from the 3rd to the 4th? Yeah, it could be something else ... but I wouldn't be shocked if that were the bonus.

Hmm, so word has it that it's going to be a poster ... which imo is extremely lame ... I mean ... it could be the greatest poster in the world and it would still be lame ... posters = lame

very lame....

A poster?

A fucking poster?

They said it was going to be cool, so I thought keychain, that made the most sense. The chrome Darth Vador made sense because the minifigure was already made (an exclusive new minifigure wouldn't work.

However a poster... LEGO Star Wars disappoints again!

B&N has 20% off their overpriced LEGO if you use this code...

H4E7B3W

It's awesome if you are a BN member, you could get the Mindstorm for 181$.

Poster ... and 25% off the grossly overpriced Millennium Falcon ... wow, LEGO kinda dropped the ball on this one. Wouldn't want them planning my 10th Anniversary party if this is the best they can do ...

Major bummer ... kinda glad I don't have to waste money on Star Wars LEGOs now though ...

I do want that new Target exclusive Star Wars pirate set coming in August, that looks cool

The Falcon has 5200 pieces and only cost $500 when the Star Wars pirate set only has 360 pieces and will cost $50. Which one is more overpriced? :p

I'll admit it's a neat poster, but it's a poster and not that neat.

I'm just glad it's with any order and not a Star Wars order or if you spend $50, that would have even been worse.

You think they'll fold this poster up and stuff it in the box or be nice about it and roll it and put it in a tube?

Stopped by my nearest lego store and finally got the General Grievous model for $29.98. Guess they got sick of me calling twice a week to see if they dropped their prices yet and the manager told me over the phone that they would adjust the price in store. That's twice now that Bob, the manager at the Woodbridge, VA store, has adjusted prices for me and has been nothing but nice to me and the kids...I highly recommend his store if you are in the area. (I know most of you guys reading this are New Englanders but that's your fault!) Also picked up the Fast Flyers creator set for $10 which is 50% off. I forgot to spend a few more bucks so I could get the free cookie cutters!

I also discovered something that I wasn't aware of before...certain lego stores are considered outlets while most are just regular stores. Funny thing is I've only been to three different stores (Woodbridge, VA - Lawerencville, GA - and Ontario, CA) and all three were outlet stores. I assumed all Lego stores were like these. You guys in the Boston area have three stores and none are outlets! HA-HA! Bob told me that the outlet stores get the clearance items all the time and also the "ding and dent" boxes from other stores. Woodbridge always has a big section of 20% off damaged boxes although the selection varies greatly. I didn't see any of those Indy sets that were clearanced on the website last month or so but they still had a bunch of Twilights for $50 that are back up to $100 on the site.

Next set I want is that Boeing plane for me. Still a little high at $50, I can wait.

If anyone is ordering for the free folded up poster, which I like better than rolled, try one of these...

Don't these coupons screw with sale prices? Can you phone the order in with them so they don't jack the sale prices back up to retail?

Edit: Yeah, they still screw up the prices...boeing went from $50 to $80, shipping went from $7 to $10 ?????, and they didn't even give me the $5 off!

Whats the cheapest you guys have seen the millennium falcon? I'm really interested in getting it but the price tag is killing me!!!!!

The Falcon was much cheaper a few months ago on Amazon, or maybe it was Christmas time... it was something insane like $300.

I just realized that I need $25 more dollars to spend at the lego store to get a $20 dollar gift card. Might just make a trip down there get it and hopefully be able to use it online!!!! The only that kills me on the Millennium Falcon is the Tax and Shipping which brings up my total to 434.99, Which is still cheaper than what amazon just had it for.

I did a little googling and indeed the Falcon was 354.99 on Amazon on 12/9/08. Damn how did I miss that!!!!!

Dude I don't care how many pieces it has, at $500 it's still overpriced. That's more expensive than any video game console currently on the market, for something that would awkwardly sit in my living room without moving. Sure brick for brick it's a better deal than the smaller sets, but at the end of the day you're still paying $500 plus tax for one giant LEGO set (kind of a dull one too imo, I'd go for the Deathstar set personally) ;-)

How much do you spend on LEGO every year because dude it's more than a video game console! :p

I happen to agree, but if you think about it and add up all the little sets you get in a year you go "I could have gotten X set that had 1,000 more pieces for the same price!"

You can't use the gift cards online. Just go to the store and ask them if you can order the Falcon online in order to get the poster, they most likely won't care. Then you will get a stamp, and a $20 gift card. You will then get get at least a dozen other stamps and get a $10 gift card.

I agree with you in theory and your point about the number of pieces is valid, I just don't want a bunch of little gray pieces ;-). Plus the Target set comes with 2 new exclusive mini figs, so I could always sell one off at some point to pay for half the set ;-).

After all my bitching about the poster, I actually ordered a train part just to get the poster and be entered in the drawing ... figured it was the only way I would get that piece anyway, so might as well do it now.

Well I went to the Lego Store @ Ontario Mills. I snagged the Death Star II for 139.99 and a Sith Infiltrator for 14.99. With that purchase it put me over the top for a $20 gift card. I hoped they didn't have the Falcon in stock so I can get free shipping which they didn't so I managed to get it for $387 + another $30 gift card.

I saw some other sets there for 30% off such as the panama air plane from lego indi. A bunch of Bionicle, republic shuttles just to name a few.

So I'm guessing LEGO store drops are all individual? I was at the LEGO store today and noticed that the Grievous set was $44 rather than $29. Is there a method to the drops or is all based on the manager's discretion?

Damn for $35 I would have bought it.

I went to TRU... it's so nice in there at 2pm on a Monday! Plus it was training day it seemed and everyone was sucking up!

However I thought the Impulse sets were $5.99, not anymore! They are now $6.99! That is more than Double! And frankly $3.50 is too much.

wtf... $7 for an impulse... are they fucking kidding me... for like 3 more, or actually 4 more for TRU, you can get a set that's double that.... unbelievable....

god I hate TRU.

Dunno, maybe its just me but I'm never really compelled to buy the impulse sets. Just seems like they're aimed at younger kids for the most part, with the exception of a rare few that come with cool minifigs. I only shop at TRU for LEGO exclusives, and even then I try to get them at the Lego Store if possible. Overall TRU is horrific for all their prices compared to places like Target. I'm surprised they're still in business, as there were rumors swirling about them going over a couple years before the economic downturn.

KB Toys was pretty terrible as well before they went out (I swear that's why they went out). I remember the Temple Escape set was going for like $10+ more than retail.

They didn't accuse me of stealing this time, that was a first. I'm sorry but stores expect you to have these reusable bag bullshit, and women can have purses, but I can't have a backpack when I'm walknig there? fuck you TRU!

Also the "$10 sets" are now $12 and not $11! The Impulse sets have 18 pieces, you can get a set for twice as much that will have 8 times as many pieces! My favorite is the fact that the Impulse sets are the same price as the little Pirate set with the shooting canon!

The TRU near me can charge whatever they like because the only other place to get them within 20 miles is Walmart, and they don't always have a lot, or sell out.

My loal wal-mart has started the TRU markup of the sets. No more $9.99 they are now $10.88.

For that I'll just wait for B2G1 or buy them directly from lego and get the gift card.

The new June calendar is in the stores. It actually has a good coupon this month...spend $50 in store in June and get Assasin Droid battle pack for free. $10 value which is better than the cookie cutters they were giving this month. The calendar also mentions that the new catalog should be available at the end of the month featuring Space Police. The only other notable from the calendar is that the SW Rogue Shadow will be 50% off for a couple of days near the end of June.

End of month? June or May for new catalogue I assume June.

Anything on the May calendar besides the cookie cutters? I don't get out to my local store often (60 miles away), and Lego website doesn't have May up yet, just April.

edit:I found a scan. Never mind. thanks for the information about June.

Eurobricks had pictures of the Pirates Advent Calendar and a HUGE Merry-Go-Round with Jester Hats. However them being dumb I didn't see the pictures.

Is it worth taking a trip with my 7 year old son to my closest lego store? About 1 hour with 2 toll bridges? Or is it just a big store that only sells lego?

Big store?

It's a store about twice as wide as a Gamestop, and goes back. If you are going to go with your son they have special things for children on Saturdays. Next month there is one day where you can build a little sail boat, I think it's free. For $15 your kid will get some LEGOs, and get a t-shirt. The stores are nice because they are full of LEGO fans, and the prices are the prices they should be.

Go here and find your store,

http://stores.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx

Yeah, it's worth it from the standpoint that it's the only place where you can do Pick A Brick and fill a bucket with LEGOs from a wall in the back that has buckets with various pieces. It's more interactive for kids than just buying a set and there are also plenty of places set up, like big mentioned, for kids to play with other LEGOs and interact with other fans.

At 7 he should be at a good age to find a couple cool exclusive sets and get one or however many of those plus fill a bucket with additional parts to customize it.

Ps. I'm not sure how much you're looking to spend, but the Emerald Night is an awesome set if your son is into trains, and the Medieval Market set is another amazing exclusive ... unfortunately both run $99 so they are fairly pricey but well worth it and can only be found in LEGO stores.

South Shore Plaza is a terrible setup for a mall, what a mess! It's mother's day, not fucking Christmas.

Also that Lego Store is shit, there is NOTHING special about it or to buy from it, no stupid little things or grab bags! Plus the people there don't seem to understand that adults buy LEGOs.

I'll be sticking to the Natick Mall, which somehow looks good (when it's a snoot's heaven) to the South Shore Plaza.

I recently purchased about 55 minifigs via eBay (mostly blacktron I, with maybe a dozen futuron and half a dozen mtron). They're all from store displays apparently, and thus are glued together (helmet to head, head to neck, visor to helmet, legs to torso, and a few have a peg glued to their back for posing I'd assume). Any suggestions on how to go about ungluing them? None of them have airtanks, which I don't mind so much, but I'd like to be able to close their visors (all the blacktron Is are glued open) and perhaps add the airtanks eventually.

Someone posted a review of the new Agents 2.0 Robo Attack on Eurobrick, evidently the new Agents, Powerminers and Castle sets are out at LEGO Land in So Cal. I wonder how long it's going to take for the sets to show up in LEGO stores and places like TRU.

To answer Pirate's question, I have no idea if this works, but I read online that Drano gel will dissolve glue on plastic, but I have no idea what it might do to the actual figures. As far as I know there aren't too many options to un-glue Legos but maybe give the Drano think a try on one you're willing to sacrifice and see what happens. I would wear gloves btw ... ;-)

Yep and yep. It's incredibly awkward to try and buy a set there (or do a pick-a-brick like I did with the Christmas box). Not sure why, I've never felt uncomfortable in a retail store doing it, but there just seem to be only parents with kids there. I've never seen another AFOL there.

I don't care who is shopping in the store, but the people who work there are rude in a way. The Natick Mall they are friendly and chat with adults and people of all ages. They understand the several $100+ sets in the middle of the store are for adults and not kids. The South Shore one doesn't seem to get that. Do they think kids will get a $500 LEGO set as a a gift?!

Plus the mall itself is huge on the first floor and the whole thing is too modern and clean line that it looks like a hospital. I really love shopping in hospitals!

The Natick Mall is massive, the biggest mall in the northeast, but somehow they even made sense of the parking and roadwork. South Shore, not so much.

I've only been to the Braintree one once. The Natick mall one is ok, but I think my favorite is the one in Burlington. There's a guy there that's very knowledgeable about the sets and is very helpful.

:( makes me jealous... I don't have a lego store for 4 hours of me....

I keep bugging the wife to take a trip to Chicago but driving there is annoying, too many tolls.

They are all like that at the Natick Mall, however there are normally 100 children with their "parents", the smart people then go hide in the back.

^ Winner, Winner, and Winner by cheating.

Flankly I didn't even know people still gave a fuck about hockey.

I had a professor who said he traveled many states and many places and one of the only places he was literally scared of the people were Virginia and West Virgina. Totally out there and he will never go back.
