LEGO Deals

Walmarts are so YMMV...my closest Walmart has had great clearances, although it takes them a while to get them to go more than 50%. Another Walmart further away still has old Agents stuff at regular prices. :/

I've noticed that their site says "check availability" when sets are on clearance, but that's not always dependable

Too many of the sets at my local TRU are already marked up $5 or more, so those Rewards certs are of little value to me compared to how much I'd actually spend over there. :/

Actually, if you choose Amazon as the seller, that set 6177 is $29.99 w/FSSS.

Bleh, I stopped by my local Target and most of the sets were marked up 10-15%, so their little "sale" basically meant nothing to me. :( Wish I knew when Borders picks up new shipments of toys. They seem to be the best place to pick up non-clearance (but still on sale w/30-40% off coupons) Lego right now.

Finally spotted the Prince of Persia sets at TRU ... and they're actually MSRP for right now. I'm surprised because you know they're going to take the castle set and raise it to $100 once it becomes common in stores (look at Temple of Doom, same deal).

Anyway, I grabbed 2 sets and they didn't have many more left (though they were all in stock, except the smallest set). I guess I have 90 days to find them cheaper and return them to TRU, but I'm really tempted to start building some ostriches and camels ;)

I'm hoping Borders will get all the sets in. The 40% coupon hasn't been very common lately though, and people have been wiping my local stores clean of all the newest/more popular sets.

I think prime4444 said TRU is having a BOGO 1/2 off sale next week, extra $5 might encourage me to stay up til midnight and order 4 green grocers.
Looks like my local Fred Meyers has all Lego sets on sale for 20% off. Not the greatest prices, but a sale nonetheless
Who's this Fred guy?

Fred Meyer: a dept store chain in the Northwest.

I'd love to order the larger sets online during that next B1G1 50%, but only if they offer free shipping again. >_
TRU just sent me a $5 off $25 purchase coupon for TRU Rewards members...a month after I cancelled my account...fucking pricks.
I wish they would have sent me that today... :|

I just got back from TRU.

They have STACKS of these coupons, 5 off 25, but the dates are 4/11-4/17 and 4/18-4/24.

So two weeks worth. I'm expecting NO sales for legos .... it would be too "nice".

Yep, I seen the POP sets... I even saw the Attack at the Desert or something, which is neat because of the minifigs you get... 3 plus a skele.

I just bought two Atlantis sets so I'm hoping to do a return rebuy next week to get one half off.

Actually since I bought them today, they gave me the "First lego set" 210 piece .... it was weird because I wasn't going to get it, but they whipped it from under the counter.

So since it was free... and they were pushing, I just tossed it into the bag. I'll have to bring it back of course.... blah.

Anyways, hoping prime444 was right! ;) I think saving $13 is better than keeping that overpriced little cube of a set.

And I might even go pick up some pops too, that 800 piece castle is just insanely priced right now. So temped.

****
Totally forgot to post what I picked up!

Went to one target, picked up TS car rescue thingy with the sale and the coupon for 12. Then picked up the City Light repair truck on sale. Then I said screw it and picked up the person with car since that was also on sale :p

Then I went over to the easter stuff... couldn't find anything :( I found the bin full of duplo... which is a nice bonus!!! but not for me. I went digging... and lo and behold!!!! found 2 SW sets that dropped back allll the way down to the bottom. WOO HOO, and they were unique too, so I got both sets. Unfortunately I had to pay full price because these damn impulse sets don't last through clearance.

Then I went to the other target... picked up the creator helicopter and use the 5 off Lego, target guy took it with no issues. And I went to go find some more bagged impulses and told my wife to look too, and on the 3rd shelf I saw a bag... reached for it and the damn thing dropped all the way down. But it turned out to be a clearanced City Fire!!!! for like $2.

I might head back to Target and grab some other sets I don't have with the $5 off...

I went to TRU and bought two atlantis sets hoping to come back next week for the b1g1, so don't know if I'll switch over to PoP set... definately getting one atlantis....

The newer Clone Wars one?

Now they have it. The $50 Agents set they had for months would be $20 (and an instant buy) but the box has been opened so I doubt any of the better pieces are still inside.

damn, wish I could find on here.

wonder if you can show that to Service desk and see if anything was taken, you could talk them down to a lower price?

 bartering with WM.

Someone from Russia on Eurobricks got the Caveman figure (Nicer than I thought)and CopMike got the Magic guy (Crap).

I also thought of something. It seems to be confirmed that there will be at least 3 of every minifigure per box. If someone here can buy a few boxes, then we can split the cost 3 ways. So we can get 20 minifigures, all 16 and 4 extras, for $50ish dollars.

I'm up for that, maybe we can set something up by region if we get enough people.

Hm, is that Kmart deal national? I would like to check it out, although when I last checked, the "clearance" price was actually MSRP! Stupid markups. :(

I'd be down, anyone else in the Seattle area?

I'm in the Northern California area, so I'm down for splitting a box with a couple other people ... shipping shouldn't be too much of a factor for these either, considering we're talking 16 minifigures in a small 1st class box.

Now we still just need to figure out the best way to acquire boxes.

I have access to 8 x 6 x 3 inch boxes, would those work?

Yes, sale is next week starting 3/28. Exclusions are electronics, video games, star wars, toy story, mindstorm, and bricks & more building sets.

The Prince of Persia sets are not listed in the exclusions in the ad. If your store doesn't already have them out on the floor, look for them on 4/1.

Nice, thanks for the heads up prim! I would like to pick up whatever I can of Prince of Persia, and perhaps a couple of the larger or exclusive sets, if my local store happens to have them in-stock during that time.

I'm in the middle of nowhere so I'm sure I'll have to fend for myself. Lucky to the few that could split that box.

I'll have to go to TRU and beat some kids down to get a whole box.... $50 isn't too bad.

Yeah, I'm out in the middle of the Pacific and I'll have to beat down some kiddies (or AFOLs and ebay hoarders--yes, they are everywhere) for my box too. :p

Hehe, I just meant the actual boxes of minifigures ... I still haven't heard of any stores that might be willing to sell entire unopened boxes, so hopefully some of us can find a connection or two prior to release.

Excuse me while I facepalm myself.

Yeah, I can call around the area, but are these a Lego store exclusive, or can you buy them anywhere that carries them? I wouldn't mind picking up a box, then shipping 2/3 of them to someone, and having that person pass it on to another.

Just so long as I get my money back, my wife won't throw a hissy fit :)

If I can't find a whole box someplace, I'll just wait till they start showing up in stores and buy 32 of them from an open box...granted, my odds aren't as good that way, but at least I'd be spending less initially.

I was just about to post about the K-Mart clearance as well...I wish I had know about it sooner...Kraken Attackin' was there last Friday and I would have been all over it for $4.00. I did manage to pick up a Firefighter Basic Bricks set for $4.00, but that was all that was there except Bionicles.

Also, I really hope I can find some of the new PoP sets for the BoGo next week....my store has not stocked them yet.

Bah, my closest Kmart only had overpriced Bionicles on clearance. I give up on them. :(

Unless the store specifically tells me not to, I'm just walking to the register with the box, opened or not. :p

So I was watching that MoC on ebay for awhile. I think its fantastic. But bidding went to $81, and I just couldn't bring myself to pay that. Most of the house seems to be from Medieval Market, and I was thinking I could just buy another and make my own. Any thoughts? Been browsing ebay for some of the small pieces, but its a pain to try and look for so many tiny things. Maybe someone knows a site somewhere I can order the pieces I would want? Thanks for any help.

Bricklink is your best bet.... cheapest on the net.

That or go hunting garage sales but that may not pan out.

-
Yeah. Bricklink is your best choice if you're looking for specific parts. Or you can buy bulk lots on eBay or garage sales. I've never done bad either way.

As far as MOCs go. I think this AFOLer (Matt) is one of the best on eBay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250585656141#ht_1127wt_1167

I don't really understand how people can afford to sell these MOCs for so little. If this were an official Lego set, it would cost more than $80, wouldn't it? And that's before labor costs, administrative costs (time taken photographing and listing), and eBay fees. I don't think $80 is a great price as a buyer, but I think it's extremely low as a seller. What am I missing?

How exactly do they safely ship a MOC like that once you win ... it would be hilarious if you paid $81 for it and they sent you a bag with all the LEGO pieces and a note that said "Ok go ..."

The green grocer has been out of stock since the last sale.

Your best bet for a large set would be the fire station or the carousel.

I was just being a smarta$$;)...I wouldn't buy one green grocer unless it was on clearance.
Yes, that's the one.

And it's a national clearance - it was in their weekly ad...
I was oblivious to the rest of the ad because they actually had some good video game deals this week. Now to choose which Kmart to hit tomorrow morning and try my luck. I'd like that Y-wing for $25 for sure.

Lego crabs??? Are these from some old set? Never seen them before.

He stated he would shrink wrap it, get some of the strong stuff and they really don't come apart... bag all the loose stuff.

it'll cost a bit to ship I'm sure, 5000+ weighs quite a bit.

So, made it to a few Kmarts tonight, first stop was a real score, got 4 mine mechs, and 2 of the $20 Agents kits (River heist, I think) made it to another, but only managed to pick up the $10 agents kit (Gold Tooths Getawaway). Paid a total of $43. Thanks for the heads up on the deal, good luck to everyone else!
Crabs are 12 years old, they just are not common....

I heard they're bringing them back for Wave 3 of the random bagged minifigures ... you know, for the streetwalker minifigure.

or was it

"Yeah, I got LEGO crabs 12 years ago ... that was the last time I ever went back to that part of LEGO City."
