Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
Well, he never said anything about that. He just ceased communicating 2 days ago despite being online all the time. Him saying that is meaningless since it had no bearing on the fact that he wouldn't respond to messages.

And I sent XBL messages before today. I don't see how you could be on CAG but not see the pop-up for PM's or bother to check the thread. That's just part of being a responsible league member.

I guess I'll get on and play you this time, but for future reference, if this happens with anyone else, I'm not changing plans to accommodate anyone like I have many times.
I haven't received any XBL messages from you besides the one sent right before 9 tonight. I have no reason to lie about that. I'd take a picture of my inbox but that wouldn't prove anything either.

Trading for depth purposes..

Looking to trade either WR Naanee or Davis (both 67 overall) for a LE or CB in the same rating range.
I guess I'll get on and play you this time, but for future reference, if this happens with anyone else, I'm not changing plans to accommodate anyone like I have many times.
Sorry Matt.

I thought it was kind of an "unwritten rule" when you joined an online league of....wait for it... FRIENDS.... to accomodate for schedules and accidents that may or may not happen. You can't just say "i won't be accomodating for Anyone else"....but...it is what it is.

Well, in this case, he was online and didn't communicate. In other cases, I've made exceptions, yet no one has made any for me. Why should I go out of my way for people when few, if any, have done the same for me? And I don't even know half the people in this league, so "friends" is an overstatement. And when my decision has been made due to the way those same people in the league have acted in related situations, that also must be remembered.

Any time I say something, people jump all over it, yet nobody considers what happened to cause me to react that way. This is the 6th or 7th time at least in the Madden 11 league that something has happened.

Well in Matt's defense, there are definitely a lot of players in this league that go out of their way to actively schedule matches while others take a much more passive approach and wait to be contacted. When a team or two end up holding up the league trying to play their games, a lot of times it's because it is one of those passive schedulers against another passive scheduler and they just go about with all their daily business and when it's nearing the deadline, they all of a sudden try to schedule things and then end up having conflicts and stuff. If everyone tried to schedule their games as soon as possible, I don't see why we can't advance in 2-3 days every week. I admit I probably have a lot more free time than a lot of people in this league, but not being able to set aside 45 minutes for a match every few days or so seems kind of ridiculous to me. And for the people who time after time struggle to find the free time to get their matches in, it seems like maybe they shouldn't really be in the league to begin with.

I noticed Matt is making a respectable effort to actively schedule matches this season, so I'm kind of inclined to side with him on this one, although I wouldn't go as far as to say he should cease to accommodate players in the future with scheduling issues. I just think Matt is doing everything he can on his end to get his games played, especially being from the West Coast when the majority of this league is from the east coast. I don't mean any disrespect to Scotts, but I would definitely consider him one of the more passive schedulers in the league, solely judging from my own personal experience (I've played him probably 4-5 times over the 3+ seasons I've played here). No one expects people to ditch work early simply to play a Madden game, but I don't understand why it's a hard concept to understand that someone would be upset if they schedule a match with their opponent at a certain time and he doesn't show up without sending any kind of message or anything. I obviously don't know what kinds of messages were sent back and forth in this particular situation, but I'm speaking more generally since I've been stood up on numerous occasions in the past. Obviously if you get stood up you're gonna be upset and ask why your opponent didn't show up...but you don't have to be sarcastic and say something like "what, do you expect me to leave work early just for a game of Madden?", just say sorry and that you got held up at work...things like that annoy me.

There is my rant of the day...thanks to my loyal fan-base that read it.
Ugh. Uber and I were engaged in one of the most epic games ever and the fucker disconnects with 36 seconds left. Jesus Madden sucks.
I have the option to count it. I assume no? I mean, I want to give you a chance to try for the W but I also fucking loved my stats in that game and it's going to blow to have to do it all over again.

edit: I guess the game wouldn't be too hard to recreate. Though my DROY candidate probably isn't going to get an INT in the rematch.

Absolutely not, I was at least even money to score there, no way can we count that one. I agree it sucks to have to do it again, but in such a close game I don't think we have another option.

Edit: I loved my stats too, that was a barn burner. That long TD to Floyd was a beautiful thing. It's amazing how quickly that changed from a defensive struggle to a shootout, lol.

I'm not sure I'd call it "even money" with you on my 45 with 30 seconds left down by more than a FG, haha but yes, you certainly had a solid chance at the comeback. Are we going to just retry it now?

I finally had my run game going too!

The way I was throwing it in the second half, I was pretty confident I would score there.

Yeah, let's try again now.

By try again do you mean total reset? I kind of liked the position I was in...ya know, winning the game with 30 seconds left haha.

edit: looks like that's a yes.

Ravens win 45-21 or something like that... I spent the whole game on the phone arguing with the GF that i'm about ready to toss off a bridge right now, but good game Superstar.

@Matt, i dontthink you should be so quick to be unaccomodating because everyone has lives outside of CAG and Madden and we all have surprises at some point. I agree with what MasterAwesome said about there being active vs. passive users when it comes to scheduling games and i think there should be some kind of penalty for holding up the league if ur one of those passive people but whatever the case may be, hostility is not gonna get games scheduled or played any faster.

@Ube... ur DROY candidate is gonna need more than one pick to contend with my candidate :). Ed Reed wont be repeating as the league leader in picks with J.D. Nealy around. I also have a WR that could end up being a contender for OROY if Ray Rice ever decides to stop being the animal that he is.

Now that i'm done Madden'ing it up for the night, i need to shoot some people in the face... I'm on COD Black Ops for a while if anyone is on

I'm having major connection issues, it seems to be alright on defense (I mean I'm getting lit up but there's not much lag there beyond the usual) but then when I get the ball it's slowing to a crawl and it won't even let me throw. I've never encountered that before, usually if it gets that bad it just crashes outright.

uber - I just checked and it looks like something is suddenly devouring my bandwidth like a fat kid eating cake at a birthday party. My guess is one of my neighbors upstairs (we share the wi-fi) is downloading something large inefficiently, it wouldn't be the first time. I would go up and knock on the door but it's 1AM and I'm guessing someone set something to download and then went to sleep like a selfish wireless hog, lol. I don't envision this getting better in the near term. Considering my 4 dropbacks featured an INT Rivers threw 5 seconds after I hit pass and two 15-yard sacks where the game literally wouldn't let me throw the ball, I don't think I'm going to be able to put together a cogent NFL offense with this connection. I think we should try in the morning.

So should we see if your connection has settled and get back in the game? If it didn't... I don't know what to do here. I don't want to hold us up much longer than needed.

edit: just read your above post: blah. okay.

I told him my availability was best before 2 and after 9 on Tuesday. I can't help that this was interpreted as being exactly 9 PM. I look at "After 9" as being a 1-2 hour window, which I should have clarified. But, like I said, I received one XBL message, which is my main form of communication with players in both of my leagues, so I had no idea really that Matt was pushing for a very specific set time.

Also, I work as a television freelancer so it can be difficult for me to schedule in advance as I really don't know my availability, even the morning of. I know this is not ideal for a league like this and I have strongly considered dropping out due to what will surely be a busy holiday season for me.

Check my last post on the previous page, I don't think it's going to improve tonight. I can check it again in a bit but I'm pretty sure my hunch is correct since they've done this before.
edit: just read your above post: blah. okay.
It's not ideal, I know. But I think you've played me enough times to know I wouldn't bullshit about something like this, and me taking sacks is pretty damned rare, so two in a row like that it should be pretty obvious something's up. It pisses me off too, trust me. The internet is down all night and then it comes back up and now this, it's the perils of sharing internet. :bomb:

Edit: In a perfect world where Comcast and my neighbors don't suck equally at the internet, we would have finished this game hours ago and I could announce my blockbuster trade. I'm off tomorrow though, so we shouldn't end up holding up advancement too much if we're the last game and we get it in early.

I wouldn't mind if we weren't holding up the league AND my offense is currently on fire.

Devito did sack you in the first game, but I suppose the 2nd sack in a row was a bit much. I guess pick a time for tomorrow.

My defense is swiss cheese, I have every confidence you'll still be able to score on me tomorrow. :D

Anytime works for me, tell me what's best for you and I'll be there.

10am? I'd rather get it out of the way early so it doesn't break up my work too much and make me procrastinate before and after it.

Yeah sorry, I was a bit quick to jump to conclusions there. And definitely don't drop from the league...I like our (mostly) intense matches, and I don't think your game is usually ever the last one everyone is waiting on...so it's all good.
We will play now. Thanks
GEESH Redygo - thanks for the "Welcome back to the league beat down". Coming back from a 2 week break, having new dashboard, new unit and Kinect with really screwed my focus. Thankfully it's early in the season...

This is becoming less than fun.. Seemingly as EA has added patches my connection to their servers has gotten worse, it's really becoming frustrating. I'll have the occasional clear game but then sometimes it's like my guys are playing underwater. Guy is wide open, I hit pass, and by the time the ball is actually released the guy has run into triple coverage for an easy pick. Rivers has already eclipsed his INT number from last year, maybe about a quarter of them actually attributable to something other than my shitty connection. If this continues I might have to bow out, much as it would pain me to do so.

That's a bummer about your connection. I felt like my D was playing pretty good, but I'll admit I don't think it was 5 picks (or whatever it was) good. Hopefully it works itself out soon.

edit: btw the way we finally made it to week 6!!

I'm not knocking your D, but it's a pretty significant advantage playing with a 2 or 3 second lead on almost every play. At this point I just wanted to get the game over with since it was clear it was going to be an auto-loss and we were the last game. That's why I took Rivers (and Phillips) out midway through the 3rd quarter, there was no point.

Anyway, I started 2-3 last year and ended up fine so it's not the end of the world, but another game or two like that and we'll see..

In other news, the Chargers and Cowboys are on the verge of announcing a blockbuster trade.. If we submit it today can we put it through before either of us play our Week 6 game? We actually agreed to the trade the other day but it's just a matter of hammering out what picks are going in which direction.

Since we just advanced to Week 6 it won't go through until Week 7. Though if neither of you guys have played your games yet then perhaps the game will let it happen, but in my experience they usually ask you to have your current week's game finished for it to be processed.

Can you put it through manually once it's approved? We did that last season several times I remember. We agreed in principle during Week 5, but I didn't want to hold the week up in hammering out the final details. If I'd known we would have to wait until Week 7 (when I'm on a bye) I would have rushed to get the trade submitted before we played our game. In fact I held Eric Weddle out of our game (not sure if you noticed) because he was about to be dealt.

Anyway, here's the basic trade if people want to weigh in:

Cowboys get:
Eric Weddle - FS - 83
2nd Round Pick

Chargers get:
Miles Austin - WR - 89

The last detail is whether a pick is coming back to the Chargers, but that's not going to make or break the trade either way I shouldn't think.

Interesting trade..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

haha, I have no issue with it but I'm wondering if BV knows he can't run 7 wide sets. :D

I do not want to give up a pick on my end. The deal other than that is fine if BV wants to push it through and everyone is ok with it.

No pick then.

Official submission:

Cowboys get:
Eric Weddle - FS - 83
2nd Round Pick

Chargers get:

And yes ubernes, I know I can't run 7 wide sets. :D But the Jackson-Austin-Moss-Floyd-Gates show is coming to a theater near you shortly. Naanee and Davis should be on their way out of town shortly.

Would you have a problem pushing the trade through? No one's played a game yet, and I'd really like a chance to use Austin before the bye. Plus, there's always a chance one of the players could get injured if we go ahead with our Week 6 games without consummating it. I benched Weddle but the CPU still puts him in on sub packages.

Done deal. BV if uber is unable to push it through I will bench Austin and I would hope you do the same, so we don't get injured players in return.

Yeah, I actually had him benched last game too. Uber if you can't push it through can we just do our own add/drop trade? I'd think you should be able to though.

I'll push it through. I think this week is the trade deadline in the game anyways. I'll extend it through Week 6 or 7, but we'll stick with a somewhat real deadline this season.

Thanks!

Also, since I think this is the first pick traded this season don't forget to start a new list in the OP.

Edit: So there's going to be a deadline for all trades? I've got a couple others in the works so I'll try to get those through soon.

Done and done. I've been slacking keeping up with trades for this season, but I'll try to sort that out in the next week.

Broncos - Sent you a friend request on XBL. I'm available all day today and in the evenings tomorrow or Friday. My Saturday should be pretty clear too.
Uber are we going to have a week to add fa like last season by win loss record? Or has that been thrown out the window?
Yeah, this weekend I'll likely open that up.

great.... now i gotta play a team with three #1 receivers(although Moss can be argued lol) and a ridiculous TE with a secondary where only the safeties are actually worth anything... I NEED A CB!!!

Moss doesn't stay on the field enough to be considered a #1. Part of the reason I made the trade is so I could move Moss to the slot, where I think he'll do a lot more damage.

i assumed thats where Moss was playing anyway lol.
i assumed thats where Moss was playing anyway lol.
In certain packages I've been lining up Floyd outside and Moss in the slot, really depends on the defense. Being able to line Austin and Jackson up outside and let Moss, Floyd, and Gates do their damage in the middle is going to be tough to defend (I hope).

My general philosophy is this: My defense sucks, except for the Bills game it's been carved up every week. I've got to win by bludgeoning people. This trade definitely weakens my secondary, but it was pretty weak to begin with and I've got a decent rookie to slot in for Weddle.
