Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
Thanks to the magic of Michael Vick I have a lead in my first-round game despite getting donut from Moreno (injured) and Davis (alexsmithed). It's not over yet though, since I'm only up 15 and my opponent has Peterson and I have the Bears D tonight. I'd like to think the terrible conditions might hinder Peterson, but I'm not counting on anything.
I'm down 4 and it's my Webb vs his AP. It I put in Jones I'd be up 9, which I'd actually feel decent about. If I didn't get cute and kept Philly's D in over Tampa then I'd be up 20 and feel great. :( Oh well, should be a fun MNF game to watch.

Yeah I'll let him know.

Raiders win a stunning thriller 28-27 thanks to a furious comeback led by Bruce Gradkowski. (Both Campbell and McFadden sat this game out)

The Raiders trailed 27-7 late into the third quarter when things finally started to go their way.

* Troy Polamalu is now out 5 weeks with a torn hamstring.

As much as it pains me to say it, I won't be able to take over the Colts in season 3.

I'd prefer if someone like bv or greg (or someone else that has been in the league) were to take them over but it's ultimately your league - your choice.

crap, sorry. I meant to reply to this and get you situated. It looks like we're going into tomorrow so hopefully that won't be a problem for you to get it done then.

I'd love to take them on, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to switch at this point.

I would not be opposed to a more proven member taking on the Colts. My only issue with both greg and bv are that they made some major moves to their teams.

Thats 2 years in a row that Polamalu will miss the playoffs :(

My thoughts exactly. I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents out into the pot, since they subbed the most for the Colts in the past.

If allowed, I would not be opposed to being a sub from time to time, but my work schedule right now (until I get my car back) limits any and all free time after 4pm-ish -- which is when everyone else is home from work and able to play. Gah.

That's my issue as well as well as why I was a bit hesitant. Anyone who took on the Chargers would obviously need to do so as-is, although from a roster perspective they're in pretty damned good shape.

The only reason I brought it up at all is because obviously I've had issues (very public ones for that matter) with another player in my division, so I wouldn't be entirely opposed to moving if the opportunity arose to take on the Colts.
does anyone know how to get in contact with the Lions
He appears to be somewhat MIA, gbpackers is having a hard time tracking him down in the other league as well. When I was playing him we had no trouble getting in touch through CAG PMs so I know he checks them, but I'm not sure what's up with him now.

You can't leave the division of death!

Truth be told I enjoy the feeling of going 9-6-1 and finishing in 4th place. :D

Somehow that's how I know I don't totally suck.

Definitely a tough division.

It looks like I'll be hosting Baltimore in the Wild Card Round. My first meeting with the Ravens.

I'll do the playoff picture in a bit and start working on the end of the year awards/nominees.

Most of it will be done at the airport all day tomorrow (Going back home for Christmas)

So expect the nominees in a couple days and the winners on or around Christmas Day. I'll do a few articles on the website as well.

Soooo...that sim loss I took earlier to the Colts comes back to bite me in the ass. Even after I beat the Colts they still win the division tie-breaker. Well, there is always next year...

Who am I supposed to play as the Colts, my previous post was completely ignored...

gregthomas has been the sub for the Colts.
does anyone know how to get in contact with the Lions
I can temp boot tomorrow if you don't hear from him.

How many games with playoff implications are left? I would not mind trying to push this through tonight if possible.

edit: to answer my own question. both the Broncos and Chiefs need to play. if the Broncos lose and the Chiefs win then their would be a tie, and their season series is tied too so I'm unsure who wins the tiebreaker. Bears also need to play because I tie there would give them a tie for the division-leading Vikings and the Bears have the h2h tiebreaker there. Texans need to play, a win over the Colts gives them a tie for the divison. Not sure who owns the tiebreaker after h2h. Giants also need to play, as a loss will make them lose their bye.

so with that all said, games left:

Bears vs Packers (Bears playing CPU)
Chiefs vs Titans (being scheduled for tomorrow)
Lions vs Broncos (might have to temp boot Lions. will have to grab a sub for this game, unless we're going to let the Chiefs play the CPU as well)
Texans vs Colts (gregthomas subbing for Colts)
Giants vs Eagles

Well I thought the Texans win would decide the division but Ramesu posted that was not the case. Other than that, there's a seed game for the Giants determining if they'll be the 2 or 3 seed.

The Bears get in if they can beat the Packers (based on sweeping the series with the Vikings)

The Giants grab the #2 seed in the NFC with a win (based on a head-to-head win over the 49ers).

That's probably not all, there's definitely some meaningful games left.

All repost from my edit above. Meaningful games left:

Bears vs Packers (Bears playing CPU)

It looks to me like since the Vikes lost that the Bears will make the playoffs with a win. Given that, we should probably have someone sub in for the Pack..

Second tie-breaker for wild card teams is conference record. Broncos hold the edge there, so the Chiefs cannot catch them.

AFC

1. Z-New York Jets (13-3)
2. Y-Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3)
3. Y-Oakland Raiders (12-3-1)
4. Y-Indianapolis Colts (9-6)
5. X-*Denver Broncos (11-4)
6. X-*Baltimore Ravens (12-4)

NFC
1. Z-Carolina Panthers (14-2)
2. Y-New York Giants (12-3)
3. Y-San Francisco 49ers (13-3)
4. Minnesota Vikings (7-9) /Chicago Bears (in with a win)
5. X-*Washington Redskins (11-5)
6. X-*Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-5)

I disagree and sent you a PM explaining a sort of radical idea involving this, but do we really want the CPU Vikings in the playoffs due to a final week of the season loss to a sub? I would think not. I don't want to give him a W, but with Matt unavailable and a CPU lined up to steal a playoff spot, I think it might be the best course of action.

I can play after work tonight

I forgot Venom was gone. I withdraw my objection. :D

Can we get some parity in the NFC?

I think the AFC playoff picture is locked down in terms of who's in, right?

1. New York Jets (13-3)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3)
3. Oakland Raiders (12-3-1)
4. Indianapolis Colts (9-6)
5. *Denver Broncos (11-4)
6. *Baltimore Ravens (12-4)

By my math neither the Texans or Chiefs can catch the teams they're chasing..

The only remaining question is who's the 5 and who's the 6, which would seem to matter a great deal given that it's the difference between playing the Colts and playing the defending champ Raiders. Given that, I think the Broncos at least should play.

Upon further inspection the only 2 games with playoff implications are

Bears vs Packers
Giants vs Eagles

Would anyone with games remaining be opposed to having your game simmed if you can't get them done by the time those 2 games are played (ie tonight)? I want everyone to have a chance to play their games, but we have been advanced for a few days now and I'd like to get onto the playoffs and then offseason ASAP.

edit: I see BV's post above now and the Bronco game also seems to matter! Let's see if we can get all 3 in tonight and move along?

edit2: \/ got it! haha oops.

That's fine. I know you've been trying so you should definitely get to play yours. I assume nothing from Superstar? I'll boot him when I boot the Lions around 8pm. I can do it earlier if anyone needs it as well.

edit: I plan on advancing us after redworm plays his game. so expect the playoffs to kickoff around 11-11:30pm EST tonight. If all goes according to plan, the deadline for the first round of the playoffs will be Tuesday evening. So if you have a first round matchup locked up please feel free to start scheduling it for tonight or tomorrow.

Sprice and Prez are playing around 7 pm est I believe. If we do advance tonight I'd love to get that game in tonight before I waste a whole day at the airport.

Hey guys, I saw some rumblings a few posts back about some possible vacant spots. I did have a convo with you guys last week about taking a spot in this league going forward if it was open. I am in the 2.0 league as the dolphins (gamertag raging munchie) and would be happy to start fresh with a team going into next season.

It's insane that at 12-4, i got in the playoffs by the skin of my teeth...

There will almost certainly be a team or two open I would think.

2 problems with playing tonight (if it's me you're playing):

1. I'll be gone until somewhere between 11:30 - midnight (est)

2. I have to be at work at 6 am tomorrow.

If you're still around when i get home, i'll see how i feel and let u know. I got two 5 hour energy sitting in the cabinet so as long as i'm not completely drained, i'm sure i can absorb the lack of sleep and get thru the work day.

Btw, the deadline for tomorrow night for the first round of the playoffs is not in stone. I know that despite there being only 8 games that it's still a quick turnaround. If you're busy all day Tuesday and can't play tonight (looks like that might be the case for Doom) then just please get your game scheduled for during the day or early part of the evening on Wednesday.

My goal for pushing this is to have the Super Bowl wrapped up right around or before Christmas and then we can go right into the draft in the Sun-Tues range of next week, depending on when we finish and how many people are available right after the holiday.

now that i've started in a new position at work, i figured i'd update my availability so everyone would be aware...

sundays: i'm NOT available between 4 and 8:30pm
mondays: i'm NOT available between 8 and 11:30pm - 12ish am
tuesdays - fridays: anytime after 4
saturdays: all day but i usually go out around 8 or 9pm

ALL TIMES EST

Yeah just let me know. If not tonight, we'll have to push it to Wednesday because I'm going to feel like crap all day tomorrow.

Hopefully we'll be able to make it happen.

Depending on how I feel I may be able to play tomorrow night if there are no hick ups at the airport. Last year I was stuck at the airport for 12 hours because of snow (Oklahoma City of all places)

The Giants managed to hold on in their final game of the regular season, defeating the Eagles 24-21. Perhaps more importantly, New York managed to get through the game without suffering a serious injury for the first time in weeks. The win should give the Giants the #2 seed in the NFC and a bye week for the first round of the playoffs.
