Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!

Hey guys, sorry about yesterday. I had a family emergency and spent all aftertnoon/night dealing with it (I just got home less than 2 hours ago) Everyone envolved is going to be ok, just very scary.

Sorry about holding the leagues up.
Does that mean me and thomas trade went thru?
It was accepted before the deadline, so I can put it through today. I'd still like to hear more opinions on it, but it seemed everyone was cool with it.

Uber can you add cb dunta Robinson to the Bucs roster. I checked the xfn site and he is still on the falcons roster.

Also gbpacker if you see this can you just drop him so I can add him invade uber isn't around. Want to play my game before playoffs start.

I don't think he is on my team. I played a game yesterday and I didn't have him.

Got to check the EA site or game for that. I only update the rosters every so often on XFN. I will do that now though since some major trades went through, but for future reference that's usually not 100% current.

edit: XFN rosters are updated. Dunta should be on the Bucs.

No I have a bye lol I ain't tryin to be a pain I was just looking at the xfn site and they weren't on it and u said u updated the rosters

Gg. Annoying game due to the bs fumbles I had to deal with and milking the clock as soon as you got the lead but whatever. I sucked. I just wish that game wasn't so boring.

Bucs lose a close battle against the Panthers. Final score 28-31. Insane finish because I had two chances at a FG to tie the game. First opportunity was erased because I apparently threw the ball away when I was in the pocket even though I have never seen it called like that when I roll out that far. After punting and forcing a punt Bucs had driven the ball to the Panthers 20 yard line. But a pass down the middle was picked off by Beason to seal the victory for the Panthers. GG MA, looks like I will need to put some major wins together if I am to have a chance at the playoffs.

Panthers 31 Bucs 28

Crazy good game...in the first half we pretty much made our way down the field uncontested for the most part resulting in 49 first half points. We each threw a pick six in the red zone though...mine being on the opposing 1 yard line (really stupid decision on my part) by my OWN Chris Gamble!! The second half our defenses picked it up, with us scoring a combined 10 points. The Bucs had a bunch of chances to win (or at least tie) but my defense made some big plays. He was pressured into throwing it away in the 4th quarter which resulted in an intentional grounding penalty to get him out of field goal range. On the next possession, he started out on my 40 yard line due to a face-mask penalty and got sacked on first down. With 50 seconds left I finally managed a pick with Beason when it mattered most to put the game away.

Edit: yeah you dropped back pretty far on that intentional grounding call, I thought you seemed like you were out of the pocket on that.

I thought it was a good game.

I thought milking the clock was the wisest thing to do. It was just smart football imo. Once you are up 17 there isn't any reason to take chances, why not limit the amount of possessions for the other team in that situation? I wasn't bored at all, I enjoyed the entire game, my defense played well.

The fumbles, while I agree that they are annoying, it's the risk you take running qb sneaks with sanchez.

Never fumbled before on a QB sneak. Fumbled twice this game. (Edit: And I didn't lose either of the Sanchez fumbles anyways. One just cost me a 1st down on 3rd, so I might as well have lost it. The one I lost, which was a killer, was the kick return one. Complete random luck there).

I never milk the clock unless it's super late in the game and the opponent can't win. You can call it smart football, I call it playing scared. ;) But maybe that's just me. This game definitely made me realize why my other league does 8 minute quarters. It just sucks not having a chance to fight back until almost the 4th.

Edit: And I probably should've played it differently if I knew that's how the 2nd half was going to shake out. I should've went for it on 4th and inches after the Sanchez fumble and I probably should've went for it on 4th and 2 at the goal line going into the half.

I don't know how the Jets/Texans game went down exactly, but I agree milking the clock that far ahead is really lame. The golden rule in this league is playing like a real NFL coach would and I don't see any coaches milking the clock at any point in the 3rd quarter.

It was 17-3 heading into the half. He sat on the ball the whole 3rd quarter (he received at the half). I'm not saying you can't do it. Manage the clock how you want, but please don't be surprised if I call you out for it. As much as it makes sense to play 'smart football', it is also just a game. And it isn't a very fun game when I'm sitting watching the play clock tick down for two full quarters.

edit: Actually, looking at the box score he milked the entire 3rd and a minute into the 4th before I got the ball back. I already said GG Rames, but I don't know how you can say you weren't bored during it. Were you eating lunch during it to keep yourself occupied? Haha.

I just looked at my "sub" game and saw Big Ben threw 6 picks...come on now! haha

edit: Only had 2 going into the game
Haha 6!? So much for mvp :p
Not mad about it, nothing I could do about yesterday... who subbed for me?

[I never milk the clock unless it's super late in the game and the opponent can't win. You can call it smart football, I call it playing scared. ;)]

Nice Shot!

I think each man can choose how to manage the game, right? Considering how the rest of the game had gone I had NOTHING to be scared of.

[The golden rule in this league is playing like a real NFL coach would and I don't see any coaches milking the clock at any point in the 3rd quarter.]

A number of coaches in the NFL deliberately use the entire play clock on every single play, no matter the quarter. But, I appreciate your $.02.

If you were able to get my offense off the field, I would've never had the chance to milk the clock in the first place. ;) I wasn't eating btw, but calling plays that work for an entire quarter + is fun to me.

I gotta agree with uber on this one.

Milking the clock is just gay as fuck.

Is it fun to sit there every play for 30 seconds while nothing happens? I think not.
And this league is supposed to be fun

I just said manage the clock how you like...so I don't know why you're asking me, rhetorically or not. I just think it's weak is all and I don't think many people would be too thrilled just sitting there either. So just an FYI.

"Considering how the rest of the game had gone"? I scored in 50 seconds after I got the ball for the first time in the 2nd half. My D couldn't get off the field and that's my fault, but let's not make things up.

You really can't compare the two. In the NFL there's a lot more time.

Even if you had two first downs and punted it would have still been annoying, and would have taken the majority of the quarter off the clock as well. This really has nothing to do with winning or losing. We already had this same discussion a couple weeks ago when someone losing the game was milking the clock and BV called him out for it. Same thing. It's not against the rules, but like I said, don't be surprised if people aren't fans of it.

I understand if some people get mad if/when I run the clock to protect a lead but, it's not like it's unfair or exploitative or anything, just a wise strategy in my opinion. I'm sure if I were in your position, I'd be pissed too.

Regarding your scoring in 50 seconds, you did a great job against that blitz on those plays in the 2nd half. But the rest of my defensive performance was rather solid. So, I don't think I'm making anything up.

Dude, my only possession of the 2nd half was a 50 second scoring drive. Your D was good in the 1st half, but didn't do jack in the 2nd. You can't say you weren't worried about my offense when you sat on the ball an entire half, haha, sorry you just can't.

Not milking the clock in my situation would've stupid as fuck !

My goal as a member of this league is to have fun and winning is fun. I'm not gonna jeopardize winning to accommodate my opponent, to make sure he's having fun.

K, Rames. I'll keep that in mind next time we play. Expect me to sit on the ball starting in the 1st. Bring a crossword puzzle to the game. We'll see how you like it. :)

I'm not saying your offense isn't good or that I wasn't "worried". I think my defense performed well enough for me not to be scared, that's all.

As the saying goes "the best defense is a good offense" and my offense was the best defense in the second half.

:D I'm sure I will enjoy it just the same! The strategy only really works when your winning though, so make sure that your playing with a lead.

I have no problem at all with milking the clock in a playoff game, but doing it in the 3rd quarter in the regular season seems like a bit much, especially for a team that has basically a free pass to the playoffs in its division every season.

Running the clock down in the 3rd in a 5 min quarter is pretty lame. I am sure if I wanted to, I could take up around 8 minutes of playing time but its unfair and boring as everyone has already mentioned.
Personal now? Let's not get disrespectful.
Don't take it personally then. I already said the way you played the 2nd half was annoying and now the way you're reacting to the criticism (which by the way everyone so far agrees with) is also annoying. That's all.

I never expected either out of you, which is why I asked. :D

Lmfao...I've only defended my position thus far, I have a right to self-defense don't I :D

What is a good wireless/cheap router you guys use? I need to get one for my parents. It's going to be used for the wii and they will be using netflix.

I don't see a problem with a player using the clock. Stop him on defense and it wouldn't be an issue.

darth, if you are around I can play when the packer game is over
You like the packers?!
I believe the Packers and the Patriots have the most representation in our league.. Would be an interesting 2 weeks if that ended up as the Super Bowl matchup..
