Madden 13 Official CAG League - On Hiatus. See you in August for Madden 25!
oh im not worried, just some consistency would be nice
Tonight's the deadline. We're advancing tonight. No reason to get bent out of shape about it.
BV has been pretty quiet today...I hope he's awake to advance us! Or siradam...I can't keep up with which is commissioner at any given time.
I'm advancing us now. Stayed up an extra hour than I wanted to in order to do so.

KC drops another game in what has shaped up to be a terrible first quarter of the season. Only managing 18 yards on the ground KC turned to the air to get something going. It might have worked if it wasn't for three huge drops on 3rd downs when the game was within one score.

Rivers had a QBR of 6 (only bright spot). Super Foster had 244 on 24 attempts. I felt like I kept him in check for most of the game, but he managed to break several 20+ yard runs which usually ended up as TDs.

Aquib Talib scored the only Chiefs TD, proving that the abysmal offense isn't getting much better! Here are the highlights -

gg doom!

I'm 0-4. Putting QB Cutler, HB Forte and DE Peppers on the trading block. I will do a sign and trade for Brandon Marshall if there's someone who wants to lock him up before he hits FA. Essentially there's no one I wouldnt trade away.

GG staticz, that pick six was frightening, Talib just came out of nowhere.

Solid D, you definitely got screwed on a few drops, though if Moeaki didn't get injured it may have been a different game.

nice pick 6 with Tailb i miss him lol....and it deff look liked drops killed some of your drives.
If nobody wants the Rams, I'd gladly take them. I'm also in the other CAG league and just looking for more practice against sim-style players. Made the playoffs last season but lost to Chetty in the divisional round. This season I'm 7-3 so far. I'm not as good As Chetty or Hemingway (had both in my division last season) but I like competition.
If one of these other guys pick up STL, could I get on the waiting list here? Thanks.
Deuce has first crack at them, but if he decides he'd rather wait for the Texans you can have them. The guys njrockpd is bringing aboard can go on the waiting list, since I take it there are several of them.

Yeah the first few games I put Routt back on the outside but it just didn't work out. Moved Talib back to #2 and he grabs a pick 6. Was one of the coolest plays I've seen in M13.

I made sure I put the 3 killer drops in the highlight reel. Bows hanging his head was pretty much how I felt as well.

Not to rag on Doom, but that was a pretty dreadful throw. If he'd waited a second longer or put a little touch on it, that's an easy completion. Talib was way out of position.

Also, did Bowe get credit for 2 drops on that play where the ball bounced up in the air? :D

Couple of questions on the Chargers/Cardinals trade:

1) What is the Chargers' current cap space?
2) What are the bonuses on the contracts of the players going from the Chargers to the Cardinals?

If nobody can access them now, I'll look it up tonight when I'm home.

Thanks!

Edit: Nevermind, found the info on the website.

The committee felt that the Cardinals were getting the better end of this deal by too much to make it fair. We did look at the financial impact, but the Chargers aren't that strapped, and also all of the big contracts they are offloading also come with big signing bonuses, which would mean a mega cap hit on this deal which would cancel out a lot of the cap savings.

Mission accomplished. :D

I'm not too upset about you being 1-3, though you've had a pretty brutal opening stretch. Hopefully I can push my record to 4-0 this week, put some more pressure on you.

On that note, Broncos-Raiders going down 8:30PM EST tomorrow.

Nice, youtube highlight reel. Fun to watch. Though I think I see Doom and Foster this year again, so not looking forward to that one! How bad is Bowe's CIT? Seemed like he dropped some easy ones with just minimal traffic.

Cool, sounds good to me.

In an attempt to counteract the sure nose-dive in interest in our league in the coming weeks/months, I'd like to propose that we move to a 48-hour advancement period deadline for each week and make concessions as necessary. It already seems like guys are taking each of the now 3 days to schedule their games. If we shortened the deadline I believe we'd be able to get guys to schedules games more efficiently and keep the league running swimmingly along while also keeping interest at a level satisfactory to everybody.

Define "as necessary."

It's worth discussing. Most of the committed users in the league wouldn't have any trouble scheduling every 2 days, but obviously it's going to lead to a lot more unplayed games (and also people needing to play the CPU against owned teams). I'd personally be in favor of making the change, at least on a trial basis.

That said, dwindling interest as the year goes on is a natural part of the Madden lifecycle. Right now we're in season 3 and the league is still full (and has been pretty much all season), and we're about to add a few more people to the waiting list. People are definitely going to fall out as we go deeper into the year, as happens every year, but I'm not sure the pace of advancement will make a huge difference.

Undoubtedly making that change would allow us to get more games in (perhaps as much as an additional season when you work out the math), which I'd be all for. I'm less certain that it would extend the lifespan of the league in terms of real time. But I also don't think the natural 2 or so month lull between Madden releases is a bad thing. Even the most ardent among us get burned out come June or so.
Define "as necessary."
Huge gray area that the commissioner determines whenever an extenuating circumstance arrives.

I really don't get the logic here. People are getting burned out on Madden, so let's play more games? Seems like if you want to get people burned out, that's the way to do it. I know I wouldn't be able to keep up at that pace. I have too many days of the week where I'm just not available to play. Take into account my opponent's schedule and I would be getting simmed left and right. I personally like the 3-day pace, so I'm not in a constant state of trying to squeeze a game into my schedule.

My logic is based upon my belief that people begin to care less about the league when they've gone 3 or more consecutive days without playing a league game and there is no more 'real' football to drive the excitement for Madden.

There's likely to be some selection bias in our responses here. Those who are most likely to be okay with a 2-day advancement period are also the most likely to be super active in the thread and thus responding to the idea.

The fantasy league just switched to a 2-day period, so I'll be interested to see how that goes. Not nearly as many games get played in there anyway though.

I don't there's any harm in giving it a try at least, if it proves too cumbersome we can just as easily switch back to 3 days. We'll see though.
My logic is based upon my belief
Aristotle just rolled over in his grave.

I still agree by the way, I just found that amusing.
I really don't get the logic here. People are getting burned out on Madden, so let's play more games?
I'm feeling the burn, but I still want to get through this season. If we can achieve that at a quicker pace, I'm all for it.

I kind of get that, but for me, again personally, I would more likely burn out if I had to schedule a game every 2 days. Right now I can fit it in with my schedule. And I do understand most of you guys asking for 2 day advancing are also pretty damn flexible with scheduling. But like last week where the Colts owner has a kid to put to bed and I'm not home when that happens, it makes it for a tough schedule.

This didn't change any votes, so I think the problems with this deal are probably systemic. I'd suggest taking it back to the drawing board would be a more practical approach than continuing with slightly different iterations. Just my two cents though.

Can i ask what the trade committee has for the cap penalties just to see what they are going off of?
Can i ask what the trade committee has for the cap penalties just to see what they are going off of?
When I did it this morning, my "napkin math" had the Chargers total cap penalty for the deal at around $11M, which would negate a little over half of the year-one savings. I didn't bother doing it for the Cardinals, since obviously it's not a huge factor on that end either from a bonus or cap space perspective.

Honestly though, I don't think the cap question was the biggest factor in people not voting for the deal. It was definitely one factor, but all it really did was partially mitigate one possible rationale for the deal, the imbalance we saw in the talent was the larger factor.
