Madden 13 Official CAG League - On Hiatus. See you in August for Madden 25!

meh..... there was a problem with the credit card I used for Madden and I had to place an order again... won't have it until the 31st... wtf....

David Stern had a team AND vetoed a trade, so there. :)

I seriously doubt we change how we do trades. As much 'fun' as it would be to see how everything works out without regulations, I don't really want to see any Jerry Jones or Al Davis's sink a Madden franchise. Honestly, you have plenty of chances to do it even with trade reviews. We've never rejected many trades anyway.

uber thats basketball doesnt count lol

well theres alot more to consider this year than just these players and these picks being involved. there the cap space to consider with the trades contract time thats left with the players being traded. the use of the player for the team. so much to consider in everything since its not as simple as last year at all. theres so much more to think about as owners making trades.

if i had a player making 10 million who is a 94 overall and trade him for a player thats 82 overall and 3rd rounder i could make alot of cap space and sign a player that i know another team cant afford and is about to lose to FA becuz they cant pay the guy theres just so much more to trades this year
If anybody wants to team up anytime and play against Mog, Ballhawk and Myself , just let us know ?
right now?
how are trades working this year just letting owners make there own deals and let them work on deals.

becuz there are so many situation to be judging trades on now i think it would be easier to just lets us do our thing.
We're clever enough to deal with a few more variables.

Trade review is alive and well.

So I played week 1 of my offline career last night and was sad when a few players got injured. When I advanced to week 2 this morning, the game was kind enough to wipe out all injuries for me, even a player I'd placed on IR.

The game plays great, but some of these bugs we can't possibly start the franchise until they're fixed.

Later, I saw the CPU accept a holding penalty after an incomplete pass on 3rd-and-2 from my own 30. If they get basic football logic wrong, it's kind of troubling.

Hopefully all of this stuff is fixed in the first patch.
I've had a lot of cpu punts that barely made it over the defensive line. That might have already been mentioned though.
Yeah, I mentioned that a couple pages back. Have you seen an actual punter do it though? I've only seen it in pre-season games when the AI subs in the kicker to punt. That's a problem in and of itself, since the kicker should be the backup punter on every team, but as long as the actual punter can punt it's not game breaking.

Has anyone ascertained if there is still a pre-season in online connected careers? And if so, do you guys want to play it out or sim it?

If it is an option, I wouldn't mind playing it out at least the first season, maybe with an accelerated advancement schedule.

I started one last night with a friend and there is a preseason. I'd like to see it played on an accelerated basis.

How does everyone feel about the trade cap this season? Keep it? Lose it? Raise it?

With the salary cap in place, it might not be as necessary as it once was, but there are still scenarios in which trading could get a bit out of hand so there might be some reason to keep it.

I've always liked the trade cap, but I don't feel incredibly strongly one way or another about keeping it, so I figured we'd gather some opinions.

I don't see a cap as necessary. With the progression system, salary caps, etc people are going to screw up teams on their own ;) but then again maybe we should limit how screwed up they get!

I think the real discussion should be on how we are going to handle free agents. For those that don't know - FAs are available all season on one year, set contract deals. By default they can be signed at anytime without any approval. Perhaps we need a waiver wire but for FAs.

Free Agents could be signed at any time last year as well, they just didn't have contracts. We're going to be doing Free Agents the exact same way we did last year, so it will not be a free-for-all. We'll do a FA period a few times a season. Offseason free agent signing will obviously be different since there is a bidding system in place. But during the season we'll do it the same way we've been doing it.

What will be trickier is that I don't think we'll be able to do injury replacements the same way we did last year given that there are now hard roster caps.

I think salary cap is the new trade cap. Preseason I'd just be nervous if one of my games got simmed cause we try to blow through preseason and a key player got hurt.

Mark Ingram is on the trading block... Saints have a slew of RBs..

On campus right now so dont know his exact stats... Looking for a LB or DL..

I guess it makes that Vilma isnt in the game because his suspension is the whole season, and Will Smith is in the game because his suspension is only 4 games

We'll do something probably in the Week 3-6 area. In the past, we set up the waiver order by reverse standings and opened up a 24 hour period for a group of teams to pick up a player. I would assume we'll probably do something similar this year as well.

In past years we could turn sim injuries off.. Is that still an option?

It won't be a free-for-all during the season. We'll have Free Agent periods which function like a draft, with each team able to add one player. We'll likely do at least two the first season.

I finally got a chance to play the game late last night. Played a little scrim vs Darth before he headed off. Despite all his practice, I still beat him by 10 :). Much like the real-life Jets, my D kept me in the game (Cro had a pick 6) and my offense was mostly inefficient beyond one solid drive.

My Tebow package (used it about 6-10 times) was pretty terrible. Gotta work on that!

I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't missed a beat on defense, but my offense needs a ton of work. The Manning-Thomas connection has been working well so far though, so that's good.

I've really got to hope McGahee doesn't get injured, because he did in my offline franchise and Moreno proceeded to fumble 3 times in 1 half.
Is there a cag community set up in game?
Nope, go for it. We set one up last year but nobody ever used it.

i think we just use the salary cap in the game. maybe do preseason this year if people arent into then next year and from now on just sim thru it and turn injuries off. that way if we do preseason the first season i wont be missing out on as many games either. :)

If we are going to do the preseason, I think we should turn the injuries off all together (sim or played games) until the regular season starts. I'm a proponent of doing the preseason in year 2 and subsequent seasons, mostly to get a look at rookies before the season. But not so much in this first season.

If we are simulating the preseason I think we should give people the chance to be there while we sim through each preseason week. Maybe give a 20 minutes gap between week advances so that we can make our own roster cuts. I'd hate to lose a rookie with potential because the cpu isn't as smart as me lol.

Good idea, we can do that. Even if its unrealistic, I'm sure we can all agree to forego preseason injuries.

If you don't follow OchoCinco on facebook you missed this one.

i thought that there was a bidding system for free agency.... so when it comes will we just make it so noone bids for the same guy

there is bidding during the offseason guys that come off contracts but in the first preseason and regular season there isnt for so reason

fun scrim, Tanabeo.

I tried Sanchez in the first half, Tebow in the second. It was a pretty limited Tebow since I just used the one package he was automatically inserted into but I needed to get some reps in there. I got lucky on a two huge runs by Tebow, which amounted to 100+ yards on the game. I seriously doubt he breaks through the middle of a pile like that with any regularity but I sure as hell would take it.
