Marvel Ultimate Alliance - Gen. Discussion

Haven't run Mephisto's world yet, just finished up Mandarin's, but I have to say the normal enemy I've hated the most so far are the stupid shielded troopers in the Omega Base. Between running the mission, and the comic book levels, I've had way too much.

At first, I had a problem with them as well, but just press X to grab them and it will grab their shield, then press A repeatedly until your guy pulls their shield off, then beat the crap out of him.

That's what I did too. Don't even bother trying to hit them in the back.

How the hell do you beat the Captain America comic book mission? I can't beat the Winter Soldier before the clock hits zero.

Ya, that's how I do it too, it's just annoying to have to do it to several of them at a time. They aren't so bad playing multiplayer, but solo I can't stand them. =)

That one has been pissing me off too, I can only get bronze. To finish, you have to go around the 4 PC terminals around the missle, you will see one with a blinking screen at a time. Go to it, press X and go to the next one, after you do 3 or 4, the timer will reset or give you 20more seconds depending on how much time you have left. So once you have the timer rezet to 1min, beat him up a couple times, go around the PC's and reset the timer, and just repeat, its really annoying.

I haven't beaten it yet since I always try to attack him a little bit too long, and don't leave myself enough time to find all of the terminals.

I just need to have a little bit more patience, or wait until I have him leveled up high enough that it doesn't take so long to do a good bit of damage.

Anyone know how to beat the Spider-Man comic book? I can easily beat-up Scorpion, but stupid-ass Dum Dum Dugan keeps getting killed. I try to save him from the soldiers and if I do, he goes after Scorpion. It just seems that there's no way to keep his health up. Dum Dum Dugan fucking pissing me off.

Alright guys, I just barely started playing and I just finished that Omega Base mission. I'm still contemplating on my 4th team member, but so far I've got Silver Surfer, Ms. Marvel, and Wolverine (might change out for Blade once I get him unlocked). The fourth guy I use is Spider-Man, but I don't know how he'll fair in the long run. Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't seem like he has any moves for crowd control. Anyone that's beaten the game or is pretty far have any suggestions or care to comment on what team they use? Thanks in advance.

Picked this up last night (rented) my son (5) and I have played through all the Xmen Legends so it was nice in a way to see this is nearly the same exact game w/better graphics. Nothing to tough for him to learn/relearn. We are having a blast, he didnt have school today so he and I played till midnight. Just super fun. He played nearly as all the dif characters but settled on Spidy while my fave as always in the Xmen games is Wolverine. Seems like a long game which is nice.

How many levels in is the Galactus boss fight? It's the Skrull Throneworld level from what I've read. I wanna open up the Silver Surfer.

You can enter these when you get to the very first save point in the game:
Here's the unlock codes:

DD- Left, Left, Right, Right, Up, Down, Up, Down, Start

SS- Down, Left, Left, Up, right, Up, Down, Left, Start
The other codes like "unlock all characters, unlock all costumes, etc.," seem to mess up your achievements with some sort of glitch. In other words, putting these codes in will prevent you from gaining any achievements. However, some people have said their game works fine even with all the codes used, but I wouldn't take the risk. No amount or deletion or restarting of the entire game will get you back to the default character selection because once you enter the codes, they are tied to your gamertag. The only way to fix this is to make an entirely new gamertag (If you need a credible source, you need to be a VIP member to look in the MUA boards on their official site and it's a stickied thread in the General Discussion forum).

So if you have a 360 only use the codes for DD and SS. I usually don't use codes because it takes away the fun of the game, but the Silver Surfer is one of my favorites next to Blade, so I had to use it.

I'm on my way to the Skrull planet now. This game is still a whole lot of fun. I've been playing it a whole lot with one of my friends.

Also will I be able to go back through the game once I've beat it to find all the Daredevil and Black Pather figures?
I've come across a couple of powerups that look like Shield icons, but can't pick them up at all - any idea what they are?
If they're the sphere looking ones, they are the Special Power designated to the Y button. I forgot what its called. If you can't grab it, that means your power level is full (thats the only time the power can be used), try grabbing it with another character that doesn't have it filled up. Check the character icon, it should be a white circle, if its not full, you should be able to grab the power up.

Ah, so it just fills up the Momentum meter. Came across it the first time before I unlocked the Momentum powers, and ran around for 5 minutes or so thinking I screwed it up with Storm's Tornado power or something before I finally gave up and moved on.

Murderworld, funnest hands-down so far. Would have been awesome if the bumper car part was a little longer tho.
if I use the Daredevil code, will I still get the achievement if I find all the figures later?
Yes, I used the code and have the achievement. I haven't gotten to Galactus so not sure on SS.

Does anyone use Spider-Man? Does he suck, or am I not using him correctly? Also sorry to ask again, but if anyone got the costume from the Comic Mission (it should be the Tony Stark/Civil War costume) for Spidy, do you have any tips?

Thanks. Weird thing is I beat Galactus, but it didn't unlock Silver Surfer. Am I doing something wrong, or is Silver Surfer unlocked a different way?

Spider-Man is actually pretty good. I used him all throughout story mode, and have maxed out all his stats on the Symbiote costume. I also put a lot of EXP into his Web shooters, which give him a really good distance game when fighting bosses that aren't immune to it. It's quick and actually takes off a lot of damage when you upgrade it enough. Spidey's combos are solid too, I tend to use his pop-ups a lot, as he is quick enough to start chaining things together.

Have you beat the comic mission yet?

I still have no idea why this game hates all my controllers, i literally went through the entire game without using special powers cuz my R button was just out of it. Good game though, ending stuff OWNS if you're a comic geek like myself.

Wha....? You missed out then, some of the specials are pretty spectacular.

If I pushed R, it acts like the button is always held, so it made me hate the world. I missed the days when you could configure your buttons =(

The way to unlock Surfer seems to change every day on Gamefaqs. First it was beat Galactus, then it switched to beat the game, and now it's listed as beat all the comic missions. So I'm not really sure what it is right now. I wonder if I'm finally a high enough level to whup Bucky in the Cap mission.

Silver Surfer is awesome in this game and his "Cosmic Beam" is pretty sweet since it pierces through enemies and it's chargeable as well.

Bucky? Don't you mean Winter Soldier? Unless their the same guy, I'm not too informed on certain comic heroes.

Yea, I had to look that one up on Wikipedia but they are the same guy. Just Marvel being stupid and bringing back everyone who died and retconing things to hell and back... it's one reason I won't read their books anymore since things constantly change too much.

I just got this game tonight. Gonna pop it in and play for a good 4-5 hours. Have heard nothing but positive remarks about it. Anybody know how long it should take roughly to beat it?

I believe it took a friend and myself about 15 hours. That is not including comic missions.

Honestly, Bucky's return is awesome. Captain America's comic has been probably one of the best comics in the past couple years. Ed Brubaker has made it awesome. So bringing Bucky back as part of that is perfectly alright in my book. Plus, they recently revealed who Bucky's benefactor is now that he's trying to be good again, and it was awesome. So you can talk all you want about how they retcon everything and it's horrible, but for right now, Bucky being Winter Soldier is fucking awesome.

That actually sounds intreguing. Is the story happening on the Ultimates series? I'm going to need to pick up a TPB.

Back on topic: Finally finished Spider-Man's comic mission and got the Stark Costume, its awesome. Anyways, I guess I hadn't unlocked all his powers, the one where he shoots web and pulls the enemy forward kicks so much ass. I flew threw that level so quick. Also even though the move doesnt grab scorpion, a few shots at him with this special, took him down in no time.

BTW: Blade's best costume is the one you start off with.

It's happening in 616. As of right now, you can get issues 1-17 in TPB, and the next one (18-21) comes out in December. It's really one of the best stories in comics right now, especially superhero comics. It requires a little bit of knowledge of some older Cap stuff (semi-obvious things like Cap and Red Skull being enemies, and other things like Bucky and other villains Cap has fought before, especially ones that work for Red Skull) but it's really a great read. I haven't read any of it yet, but I've heard Brubaker's work on Daredevil is amazing also.

Been busy the past few days and switching out the displays in my room. I've got a new screen coming in this week and after that I'll be on most nights. I'll probably be on tomorrow night as well, but not that long since I'm using a 19" monitor right now while I wait for delivery. Makes my eyes hurt when I play.

When/where do you guys find the other comics? So far I've only found Wolverine's, Cap's, and Daredevil's. I've gotten gold on Cap's and Daredevil's, but am stuck on Wolverine.

Enjoying the game so far, ready to start on Atlantis next time I play. Haven't tried online yet, feel free to add me if anyone wants to play sometime.
Steve, DC, Rock can any of you guys play in the next few days? I can be on if you want to play.
I should be able to. The kids and work have been occupying my time lately (Halloween and End of Month), but I should be on tonight after 10 EST.

What teams are you guys using? I've got Spider-Woman, Deadpool, Thing and Wolverine. When I unlock the Silver Surfer, he is swapping out for the Thing and Someone else will swap out for Daredevil once I find the last figure I need.

I'm literally changing my team like every five minutes. My actual TEAM that I set up was Deadpool, Cap, Iron Man and Torch. But I have ADD and never use that team. Deadpool though has been my MVP. My friends and I beat the Kraken and Arcade with just Deadpool doing the vast majority of the fights.

Deadpool can be pretty awesome, with him alone I took out Mephisto. I like the create a team feature, I have unlocked all the slots so I have a good variety to choose from to get the custom team bonus, I like to use a real team within my made to team to add an extra bonus, so I have all the Raven Ultimates, the Defenders and Black Panther, who I can use with the Marvel Knights and still get my made up team bonus, so right now Im using Black Panther, Moon Knight, Dr Strange and Luke Cage

Yeah, I totally realized afterwards I should have put a real team in as my custom team so I could get double the bonus. I plan on adding probably Wolverine as my first new person when I get a new slot cause he'll be able to form a team with my members (or at least have the three people necessary to get experience).

I'm doing the same thing. I can't make up my mind. The only thing I know for sure is that elektra sucks. After using her all the way up to Murderworld, I gave up on her.

For those who have tried these guys out before and are pretty much far in the game; who's better: The Thing or Colossus?

If you put enough points into the Things Uppercut mixed with his classic suit, you can easily deal 70+ points per hit pretty early in the game. I tried colussus for a while but I got bored quickly. Plus the thing has great dialogue.

I was thinking about using the Raven Ultimates: Silver Surfer, Iceman, The Thing, and one more. But can't decide between Deadpool or Moon Knight though. Can anyone vouch for them?

Deadpool has been my most used character since the beginning. Always has been one of my favorite comic characters, and he's definitely fun to play. Using his maxed out Ultimates (I believe that's the one) costume with +Crit and +Regen, along with the "Ginsu Top" power as I call it where he spins around just tears through things.

As for my team, I was running Deadpool, Spider-Man, Storm, and Wolverine for most of the game, but just switched to Deadpool, Blade, Black Panther, and Daredevil after the Bi-Frost Bridge mission, loving the new crew so far. Lots of power, and style to boot!

I have also used both for awhile and lean more towards The Thing.
