Marvel vs. Capcom 3 discussion thread
She Hulk is a waste IMO, much rather have had Rogue or Ms. Marvel for the brawled type chick. This is much like X-23 to Wolverine and on a lesser extent Trish to Dante. And now that new rumored list has Spider-woman. If Mega Man is in, I hope they don't also throw in Roll.
She-Hulk looks nothing like Hulk. X-23 looks pretty different from Wolverine and as for Spider-Woman -- she can fly, shoot venom blasts and has S.H.I.E.L.D. training. All of which Spider-Man can't do.

I actually thought She-Hulk looks kinda fun. I mean, seriously, she throws a fucking car at you! :bouncy:
I hope I can upgrade my order @ Amazon and still keep the 50% off code that I have. :whistle2:k
Yeah, haha.

Definatly going to send an e-mail!
What's in the special edition, I used my 50% off code on the regular. :(
Steelbook case with exclusive art, DLC with Jill Valentine and Shamu-Gorath and a short comic that sums up the plot. I think that's it but I'm not sure... not bad for an extra ten dollars and I'm sure Amazon will let you move your pre-order over to it.

For an extra $5, fuck yeah I want that! (That's with the %50 off)

dare I say that this is coming together to look like the greatest fighting game of all time, well at least if not the greatest , most funnest (is that a word)?

A lot sooner than I thought it would be out.
So hyped! I thought that this would be out near the end of March. That collector's edition is mine.

Is no one pissed about Capcom going the DLC route for fucking characters? I knew it was fucking stupid and bad news when BlazBlue did that, and if they can get away with it, Capcom definitely can.

I didn't want to buy this game until it was down to about 30 bucks, but now I'm probably going to have to await the inevitable Super/GotY/Complete/Ultimate edition that includes all the characters, which will take even longer.

I'm not upset since I knew beforehand that they were considering DLC characters, and with the Collector's Edition I know I get two upfront (in four weeks after the release date).

I'm also pleased since now I can hope that they would bring my own personal favorites or cut characters to the game.

They had to throw in Jill at the last second. So if you buy the SE, you've to wait 4 weeks to use the codes? WTF is that shit? Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Knowing Capcom they're probably going to fuck everyone in the ass with this game until they shit. If RE5/RE5 Gold Edition and SFIV/SSFIV are any indication, expect to get fooled into purchasing this game more than twice.:bomb:
She Hulk ... just looks meh. None of her moves are cool, IMO. Throwing a car and watching it explode looks lame as hell.
That's funny, I thought it looked like her style was cool, but I'm not very excited for the character.

Zero looks pretty badass (crossing my fingers for Megaman X).

You get a code for DLC inside the package, but the content doesn't release for a little while.

DLC is nice for some games... i.e. Rockband

Fighting games, not so much.

Nobody wants an incomplete character roster, but I don't want to pay extra (even though I most likely will) for a completed one. Damn, the game is already $60... And who knows what they are going to charge for each one. Same thing with Soul Calibur 4... Vader for $5 just to complete the character select screen... No Thanks.

It's annoying, but at least DLC is an option for new characters. For SF4 they basically said "FU go out and buy a new copy" and never even made DLC an option. Hell, they even made it so that all your online stats and even trophies/achievements needed to be redone from scratch. Also: BLAH at Jill being the RE5 version :(
I'll gladly buy any character they put out there for any price.
Yeah, Capcom will probably release 6 or so characters and then make an announcement that a super version with balancing tweaks is in development. When that version is released, they'll add 6 more characters (in addition to new costumes) and possibly announce a new arcade version with even more tweaks; making your console version obsolete. If that wasn't enough, you'll go out to the arcades to play while wishing they would release a console version. You return home one day, and lo and behold the cunts post on their Twitter accounts a picture of the arcade with 360 and PS3 controllers next to it. Then everyone is like, "OMG DO WANT ."

By the time they release Marvel vs. Capcom 3.3: Ultra-Legendary Marvelous Edition (i.e. We Got Your Monies Suckers!! Edition) it'll be February 15, 2013. Then you'll just sit there and stare at your three copies of the same fucking game (along with your three different versions of Street Fighter x Tekken) and say, "What the fuck? Is this deja-vu? I thought this already happened? Oh that's right, they did the same exact thing with Street Fighter IV."

All while Capcom is laughing their asses off saying, "That 2-year strategic plan we implement in all our games worked wonderfully yet again. Good thing we held back FINISHED content so we can screw our fans over and over." They won't care. It's just strictly business.

Even though I say this, I'll probably end up experiencing the same exact bullshit.
Also: BLAH at Jill being the RE5 version :(
Yeah I agree. They could have at least put the BSAA version of Jill in the game. Now she just looks like one of those lame characters from the Tekken series. I forget her name, it was Nina or something. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry to say that I'll gladly pay for any DLC related to MvC3.

Another franchise? Another fighting series? Another developer? I'd think twice.

For this game, I may as well blindly click on the buy button whenever anything's announced.

When I talked with Seth Killian at Fight Nights in Chicago I had asked him if Capcom was planning on releasing another edition a year later he had said no. He stated that they didn't have a choice between SFIV and SSFIV and they had to make a decision on it, and from that decision they were able to make a good game plan for any future fighters.

They could possibly release a GOTY edition that includes DLC a year later but they aren't planning on screwing us, again. Also who the hell kept SSFIV without trading the last game for it? I did the day they announced it... not that big of a deal.

They also released SSFIV for $40. And most of us likely didn't pay $40 on release date. Considering the fact that if they had released 10 separate characters+stages as DLC it would likely end up costing more than what we paid for SSFIV, I'm okay with that.

But no Noble Team or Crash Course DLC? :(

I have both still. Haven't 1k'd SFIV yet and I keep thinking one day I'll wake up and be able to magically complete all the hard trials I have left. Stupid FADC's!

Back on topic, I'm just happy the drought of fighting games is over. It was a long 6-7 years. I'll gladly buy the CE for this game and DLC (new achievements w/ DLC characters please!).

I can't wait for this game. I think I'm going to start with Magneto/Super Skrull/Zero. Unless they announce Sentinel.

These Capcom conspiracy theories are hilarious by the way. Keep em coming.
Did you guys have any luck getting Amazon to change your 50% off standard edition pre-order over to the special edition?
I'm waiting for them to reply to my email. Several people have succeeded already though.

Let me know if it works out for you. I bought a code off of someone on here, so I'm not sure if I'll have any success with it.

I sent an email earlier about it, and at first got a response saying they are unable to do it. But other people suggested trying again if that's the case, so I tried once more and this time they did it for me and changed it to the special edition and applied the discount. So if you don't get successful results at first, just try again.

Well this is just sad; the stupid DLC model is striking again, but because it's Capcom people are willing to turn a blind eye.

Everyone's just standing there with their eyes closed and their mouths wide open waiting to take Capcom's jizz, but instead they get pissed on, and they all swallow it up anyways.

If you ask someone to their face if they're going to fuck you, they aren't going to say yes; they just wait for you to turn your back so they can pull down your pants and fuck you
How many updates did MVC2 get?
None, but then again that was 10 years ago, and none of the Vs. games ever got new editions; now that they've seen people will still pay for characters left out of the game, why not hold them back.

Why are people hating on the fact that there will be DLC updates with new characters? I think that's awesome news. Why wouldn't you want more characters down the line?

Just because two have already been announced for the special edition doesn't necessarily mean that every DLC character they decide to add to the game will already be on the disc. Who even knows if these two are, since they won't be available straight away. And if they decided to go ape shit and add every character imaginable straight off the bat then it would affect other areas of the game in a less favorable way.

I also never got the hate on Super Street Fighter IV. Since it did have enough new characters, modes and stages to justify it's price. Which was $39.99, not the regular $59.99.

Do you seriously thing Capcom is going to add every character they have available right off the bat? Hell no. It's common practice now a days to save take some stuff out of a game and "introduce" it 2 months later as "DLC you were working on" just for more money. I think the reason people are peeved is because these characters are most likely going to be characters that were already in the game, but taken out for DLC purposes. How would DLC characters that are not on the disc even work? What if you're going online and you go against someone with a DLC character you bought, but they don't have the character. How would the game even load it if it wasn't on the disc?

Well for new costumes in Super Street Figther IV they released free updates for people who don't have the costumes, so when they play against someone who does they're able to see them. I imagine they'd be able to do something similar to that. Or, like in some other games, that DLC will just be blocked during a game with someone who doesn't have the content.

Yeah, the best thing would be if you couldn't select a character, but you could still fight against them online. I'm sure they'll do that.

And the reason they're doing some DLC characters at all is so that they can pay for additional characters that are beyond the scope of the main game. The game has a certain budget and 99 characters won't fit into that. But if they put a price tag on additional characters beyond the 30-50 that are built-in, those development costs will be paid for. It's smart business (and also keeps the game fresh over the long term), but unfortunately some people are just resistant to DLC.
How many updates did MVC2 get?
I'll give them that one for sure, but that was quite some time ago and doesn't really apply to modern times. We now live in a gaming world where every game has to have "DLC" to keep their games relevant for an extended period of time. Whether it be actual DLC made from the ground up, content held back and labeled as "DLC," or even just unlock codes to content that's already on the disc; it's entirely up to them. Capcom was notorious for having it's Resident Evil 5 Versus mode hidden within the disc and then charging everyone for it when they were "finished" developing it. This practice wasn't available to MvC2 back then, and I'm quite sure they'll take full advantage of what's the norm now. Especially after seeing what Blazblue has done, and not to mention the assets acquired from map packs in the Call of Duty series.

If the future DLC in this game is too "extravagant" and cannot be provided through digital distribution which "forces" them to make a new version, don't be surprised when they announce it and try to justify it with all their bullshit excuses.

I honestly hope everyone is right though; and this game doesn't get another updated edition. DLC is fine as long as it's actual DLC; not locked within the disc or held back.

I still have both...

I'm a SF fanatic. I have all kinds of collectible type stuff anyway. I still have all my Saturn and DC games even though I've got them on an emulator.

Not to mention all these people that keep bringing up new characters as DLC, um am I mistaken in that Capcom hasn't done that. So you really have nothing to bitch about. They put out a cheaper, SUPERIOR version in SSF4. Yes, they charge exorbitant prices on costume DLC, but who gives a shit? Let the people that want it buy it. Nothing they've done prevents you from enjoying SF4 or SSF4 to its fullest anyway.
She-Hulk! Finally!
hell yea!

but hmm...

I am wondering if I should pick up the SE or wait for those characters to be DLC?

Apparently the disc ships with forty characters, but a few will be DLC. I imagine if they do more DLC characters, they'll do what they did the SSF costumes and make a free downloadable catalog, or what I call the Burnout Paradise treatment.

Thanks for the news, Jonathan! I am loving how many female characters this game has. That is an excellent way to get more females to play, plus the characters are easy on the eyes. :)
