Marvel vs. Capcom 3 discussion thread
Yes, it looks dull compared to the previous art style.
the previous? the previous art style was a bag full of reused sprites

the capcom side looks sweet in this style amaterusa(sp) looks sick and viewtifuljoe looks awesome

vergil could just be a swap of dante . make his cloths blue change a couple moves and you got vergil
i was a little confused/shocked faced when i saw/read about Trish. just showd up. they should remove her and add the three headed dog for all i care
means there's still hope for some fan favorites to make it in!
Nero, Vergil, Lady and the ugly chick from DMC4!

There was an ugly chick in DMC4? Unless you mean Gloria.
Who is Trish. Who is already in the game.

I'd be all for Vergil and Lady.

It looks like C. Viper is going to be in MVC3. This shouldn't be any surprise because her playstyle is very Marvel-esq.

When I first saw the art style of MvC3, I HATED it. Oh lawdy, did I hate it. I've learned to love it now, though.

No Gambit still makes me cry a bit on the inside. Some of the roster are just WAY out of there. Viewtiful Joe? Amaterasu? Those choices are just a bit wierd. (That's not to say I don't like those characters, I do, it's just...interesting.)

Dormammu, though...Dormammu. Seems like every fighting game has to have some ridonkadonk character that's extremely, extremely powerful. I mean..jeez, have you seen his attacks?

X-23 aka Wolverine's daughter unveiled at TGS. Waste of a character slot I think, in the same vein as Trish. You've got a lady Dante and a lady Wolverine now. I hope the roster is bigger than they initial said it would be if they have room to be doing this.

X-23, confirmed! Sorry I hadn't seen a link for it yet but I know you guys have been talking about it.

I'm so excited and it is just confirming that character leak. X-23 is a clone of Wolverine that was created for the X-Men Evolution show (much how Harley Quinn was created for the Batman show). Chris Yost and Craig Kyle had created the character and now she is a regular on X-Force now. I don't really consider it to be a waste of a character slot but I was also pretty excited to see that she was possibly going to be in the game.

Wolverine has a son, though (named Daken).

ALSO - If you are near Chicago and want to play Marvel vs Capcom 3 next Wednesday: read this. They haven't announced the location but I'm tempted to drive there and crash at a friends place just to get my hands right now.

I will correct ya there. Wolverine kicked her off of X-Force when he recently recreated the team and decided to leave Laura (X-23) off the team and replace her with Fantomex and Deadpool.

She also had a new series start yesterday. I'm really surprised and enthralled that they decided to include a newer Marvel U character. She looks a little bit quicker than Wolvie, but that's probably about it.

We do keep a list of confirmed characters in the OP, you know.

I'll be updating the thread title every time a new character is announced, but I only just started doing that today. Tron Bonne was a few days ago.
I am pretty much betting that they will put young Dante in this game
Please don't jynx it.

I don't think they will. Dante in MvC is practically a finished character, from my understanding. And his movesets are derived from his appearance in DMC3. Just from the trailer of DMC alone, it looks like he's going to have completely different weapons, so I doubt they'll just shoehorn him in... unless it's just an optional skin.
It's a replacement for Marrow from MvC2. No Daken would be great.

Edit: Tron Bonne is in too.
Marrow would have been nice, even though she was definitely one of the lesser used characters. I actually had fun with her.

On a side note, I still can't believe how psyched I am for this game and at how many trailers/youtube videos I've watched numerous times.

I know this is a link to a PS3 site, but they have new gameplay videos of tron bonne and x-23

http://www.ps3blog.net/2010/09/16/m...-characters-new-trailer-and-game-play-videos/

X-23 actually seems to be somewhat different compared to Wolverine, and won't just be a carbon copy of his character and movelists.

My friend in Chicago met a guy who used to work for Capcom and has friends running the Marvel vs Capcom 3 event out there. So he might get a couple passes to go check it all out... looks like I might have a six hour drive ahead of me in the foreseeable future.

This game is going to be bad ass. I am not a big fighting fan like many of you, but I can appreciate the quality that MvC2 was and I am pretty excited to tool around with MvC3 a bit.

I hope that's incorrect just because of the sheer number. Only 38 compared to the 56 of the last one? MvC2 was a bit insane with their amount, but I'm thinking 45 would be ideal.

No BB, Guile, Mega Man, Strider, Cyclops, Psylocke... all bummers. Though I think Mega Man is the only MUST in there imo. Maybe BB too. Obviously the new characters are sweet, so I guess some old guys had to be compromised.

No Bison either? They def need some more Capcom villains. Sagat would've been a decent replacement.

But the whole cast from MvC2 is just reusing old sprites. 38 is a good number since they are basiclly starting over.

Although I do remember them saying Fantastic Four won't be in it.

Well, Capcom said at the very beginning it wasn't going to have as many people as MvC 2.

It's being rumored there are two more reveals tomorrow, since MvC 3 has one more show on the last day of TGS. Each show they have revealed two more people.

My guess is Zero (hell, he's been practically confirmed by Nitsuma and Killian) and possibly She-Hulk.

Mr. Fantastic would be fun to play as, but I read the same thing: No F4 characters.

I'm kind of surprised we aren't see at least one of Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye or Loki with the upcoming Avengers movie. Everyone else seems to be included. Though Trish is probably too similar to Black Widow. Hawkeye would probably be my #1 request from those 4.

Yeah, I agree. It's starting to feel as though Capcom's going to short change the roster on this one, like they did on Street Fighter, to re-release it or have DLC of new characters. I really hope that Gambit/Cable return. They were two of my favorites and all time used characters. Gambit was so much fun and truly unique.

I'm going to guess that Black Widow, Sam Jackson Nick Fury and Hawkeye will be in the game to complete the Avengers movie roster. It'd make a lot of sense from a marketing point of view.

I don't Black Widow would be anything like Trish. If anything, she'd be very similar to Chris. IE; great martial arts skills, gadgets, guns, bombs, etc.
They've removed my most used characters from MvC2, don't think I'll even bother with 3 now.
Who?

And I really doubt that Fury, Black Widow or Loki will be in it.

I didn't mean play style, more as in they are both leather-clad females that shoot guns.

But yeah, I would be shocked not to see more Avenger characters, especially those that play significant roles in the movie. Too perfect of a marketing opportunity.

I don't know how perfect of a marketing opportunity it is, considering that MvC3 is coming out in March or April of 2011 and the Avengers movie comes out in May of 2012.

Maybe as DLC down the line, but even Thor doesn't look like the movie version, it's the current comic-book design. MvC hasn't previously, and continues not to be based on the Marvel movies, but rather the comic books.

Well, there were a ton of X-Men characters in MvC2 and that was right before the first X-Men movie came out. It's not like people won't be playing MvC3 in 12 months after it's release either. People are still playing MvC2 now and it's been 10 years.

I don't necessarily think it's an essential tie in though, but when Marvel is mulling over what characters they'd want to include those that will be in upcoming movies probably have some sort of priority. If not from a strictly marketing standpoint, but the fact that these characters will be more in the public eye than others so people will just want to play as them. If Thor and say Gambit are up for debate on who to include, Thor is going to win every time. His movie btw is coming out May 2011, so maybe a more appropriate tie-in, and maybe we'll see Avenger cameos in that one too.

I agree that it makes sense to put as many Avengers characters as possible into the game. Marvel wants to increase people's awareness of the characters before the movies hit in order to increase movie attendance. That's why they put out an animated Iron-Man before the Iron-Man movie and now an animated Thor precedes the Thor movie.

As for Clak, skipping this game because a specific character or character isn't in it is just silly and childish. Unless you have a learning disability and can't learn new characters, in which case I apologize for my insensitivity.

Don't really see how it's silly or childish; if I had a favorite squad and they put 0/3 characters in it, I'd probably skip it too. It's his money and it isn't going to effect your enjoyment of the game; no need to call him out/insult him.
Don't really see how it's silly or childish; if I had a favorite squad and they put 0/3 characters in it, I'd probably skip it too.
And what was his favorite squad before MvC 1? MvC2? You have to start somewhere. Part of playing any new fighting game is learning the characters. Imagine if everyone had decided not to play parts 1 or 2 because some specific character wasn't in it. There'd be no part 3.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect Marvel vs Capcom 3 to have everything that MvC2 had. There's a new graphics engine and a new gameplay engine. They have to start from scratch, and if part 3 only had characters from part 2, that would be boring for the vast majority of players.

I wasn't even going to watch the Spider-Man video but after watching it I'm glad I did. It showcased how well they improved stuff in the new game after seeing all his moves in action. All the little details and improvements came out great and were more apparent than the other returning characters.

i havent looked/read or anything but is there a character support system? (minor characters making an appearance kind of thing)

I hope that I understand your question, but if you are asking if they will have the assists like they did on MvC1 I doubt they will. The assists are like MvC2, not like the first one where you randomly select an assist character.

Again I hope that answers your question.
