Mass Effect 2 Discussion - Fight for the Lost
I would suggest finishing up ME1. Using the stock Shepard kind of goes against what Mass Effect is all about: playing your way and living with your consequences throughout the series. All of the tie-ins to ME1, be it running into people or simple things such as mails sent to you, really help to pull you deeper into the game. Besides, it's pretty cheap now.

Also, I would suggest doing more squat thrusts and focusing on your pecs a little more. But I can see you're in the zone, so keep it up with those ab rippers.
Thanks for the advice, I was so pissed when I discovered the problem that I stopped playing ME2, took a nitro-shot, and hit the Monday circuit to burn off some steam. Twice.

Now that I have a level head, I'll probably hit up a Blockbuster and scope out a ME1 rental and a Cliff Bar. Thanks for the advice, I can tell you are genetically superior.

instead of getting 8 health from upgrading i wish the percentages actually were what they were. 10% of 500 is not 5 health its 50!!

On the note of Miranda-Jack issue the the unofficial bug/glitch thread on Bioware social says
Miranda/Jack showdown impossible to resolve, charm/intimidate greyed out or choosing charm/intimidate fails to retain both loyalties
This seems to be a bug caused by the order in which the loyalty missions for both characters were performed. testing has repeatedly shown that if Miranda's mission was done first it is impossible to retain the loyalty of one of the two.
Status: Glitched. Fixable by doing Jack's loyalty mission FIRST. Possibly related to the Morinth charm/intimidate bug.

The wikia guide says
a romantic link will help diffuse the situation

What I did was to
pursue them both romantically but not giving in to Jack's first offer. After Jack asked me to do her loyalty mission, I completed it, then Miranda's. I was then able to Paragon my way out and keep them both loyal. I did have a small notch of Renegade. I then decided who to pursue romantically. Needs to say Jack now tells me to "fuck Off."

It's definitely bugged because I always get Miranda's done first every play-through and when I tested it my Shepard was female. Lame.

Huh. I wish I had kept better track. Because I swore I was doing the Loyalty Missions based on the order they joined the team. So Miranda would have been second (after Jacob). But I was romancing Miranda and 100% Paragon. So I diffused the fight. Wonder if they will patch that?

i have played another insanity(all unfinished) this time i decided to start fresh on a level 1 guy(level4) and i gots to say instead of losing ALL my shields in 4 shots.. im only losing about 1/5 of my shields from those same 4 shots!

I just finished my first playthrough. Shepard was a full paragon soldier. I think the only mission I have left to finish is the glitched stopping the missile mission.

Is there a message glitch? Once I got back in control, Kelly said I have a message, but there wasn't one there. I'm wondering if I missed a message from the Illusive Man or something. He was kind of pissed that I blew up the base.

Does anyone know why you can't backup ME2 saves to a memory card? I got my ME1 save and ME2 DLC backed up, but I can't do ME2 saves? I really hope my HD lasts untill ME3. I'm not too worried, but it would be nice to backup.

- so i beat the game (veteran, loyalty with everyone except Zaeed), saved the entire crew that you can save, no one died...victory. then did some exploring and found a ton of minor side missions and even 1 upgrade scanning planets...so I reloaded my save, did all of those side missions, leveled, then beat the game.

Now my problem.

No matter who I put up as the specialist, he/she/it always dies. Granted, it's my 1st playthrough and when I beat it a 2nd time that will be the future import to ME3...anyone running into this problem? I've even gotten where the collectors spawn down to a science and storm through the whole level incerating those bugs into ash before hitting the last valve. Or if you don't jump right to the Omega 4 relay when you can
do you lose both said crew member and your specialist everytime?

Why did you reload an old save? You can still do side missions after you've completed the game.

Wrong second team leader. Legion or Tali on tech, Garrus, Mirand, or Jack leading the second team.
Why did you reload an old save? You can still do side missions after you've completed the game.
I basically wanted to go into the last mission at a higher level, which I did and even leveled during the fight. I finished the last mission lvl 27 (I think).

As for The Crotch, my original run I did as my instincts told me and I did fine. my 2nd run through I chose the same guys except switched up the between the biotics, but it didn't matter as it was still after the Specialist sequence. All the "right" ppl that can get the job done still bought the farm.

I suppose I'll just take it with a grain of salt, and move on to the 2nd playthrough knowing what I know.

You are a sneaky one. ;) Huh, according to that link the fact that I did Miranda's mission first should mean I encountered the glitch but I did not. The scene itself occurred after Jack's loyalty mission so they were both loyal at the time. I didn't need to take a side.

Who was your fire team leader? The known safe ones are Miranda and Garrus. Having an inexperienced leader on that first fire team gets the tech specialist killed even with loyalty.

My 1st before reloaded save team layout:
Specialist: Legion (survived), Fire Team: Samara, Biotic Team: Jack and other Team: Garrus. My team: Tali and Miranda.

My 2nd after I did every planet scan mission team layout:
Specialist: Tried Thane, Mordin, Legion, and Tali (no dice), Fire Team: Samara and Garrus, Biotic Team: Samara, Miranda and other Team: Garrus again. My team: Tali and Miranda.

Strangely enough, I used the same teams in both runs with different results. Only difference being I finished 2 levels higher than I did the first time. *shrugs* It's only the 1st playthrough, I'm sure whatever I did here won't echo into my 2nd playthrough. I'll just be higher level and have more resources/wpns. I'll be pretty perturbed if I can't finish flawless in insanity though despite doing all the right things. Thanks for the attention though.

Hoping they include a new set of armor and some heavy pistols in the next cerberus free DLC patch.

At this point I hope any new Cerberus DLC will include actual missions along with armor and guns, so that we have something to use them for. :)

Does this "Specialist: Legion (survived), Fire Team: Samara" mean that Samara led the fire team? Cause otherwise you should be good. Like TheCrotch said specialist should be Tali/Legion, fireteam leader Miranda/Garrus, and biotic Samara/Jack. The rest is gravy with loyalty

I'm hoping for guns (SMG and heavy pistol), missions (although I bet that we get an expansion eventually ala Dragon Age), and the 12th playable teammate. That observation deck opposite Samara is the obvious place on the ship to put the character. A sudden dead-end in a ship full of rooms? I don't think so.

They're already essentially confirmed the next DLC character, a human Infiltrator named Kasumi. And yeah, the way the game lets you keep tooling around after the ending is just begging for expansion packs. I bet we get a bunch of one-off mission packs and then eventually a major expansion that sets up the story for ME3.

LOL.

I honestly wouldn't mind possessing Liz's caliber of talent when it comes to the work of fiction. A legion of rabid questionably sane but loyal fan girls all willing to kill, care, answer my every whim does a certain tyrannical flair doesn't it? Hmm... maybe I've been heading down the wrong career path my entire life.

If I could make a character for Mass Effect, he would spend all his down-time at the urinal in the men's room. Any time you try to talk to him, he'd get very upset about his privacy and complain that he gets stage-fright whenever you're around.

If it's a mission pack and additional squad member, I hope it's free. Normandy Crash site was more for nostaligia for anyone who played ME1...since I didn't it really didn't do anything for me except grant me some exp and resources.

Dude... don't even joke. I want it now!

Do people think Kasumi is going to be paid DLC? Kind of weird adding another squad member this late in the game. Most people will be doing it after the game is over, so it will be like, "I'm recruiting you for our mission... although we already finished it."

I think "Priced DLC" territory begins when/if we start getting bundles of missions packed into one subplot. For instance, if they followed up the Redemption comic with a DLC pack allowing you to help further Liara's chase against the Shadow Broker by helping her out in a handful of missions - I think that is where we'll start to see prices being added on. Things more along the lines of Bring Down the Sky from ME1 also come to mind.

I think they may keep armors, weapons, and Kasumi free. We at least know the Hammerhead will be free.

Yeah, I'd think the Kasumi DLC would be released along side some type of quest/mission DLC, as for most people there's no need for a new character without new quests.

I think at the least there will be a quest to recruit her and then a loyalty quest for her with the DLC that introduces her. Then you'll have her for any (likely paid) DLC expansions in the future.

Bear: In your particular case I hope it gets delayed for months. ;P

In all seriousness word on the e-street is one of those trusty neurotic fans of ours harassed EA long enough to get a rep on the line for a little Q&A. The rep supposedly told them the Hammerhead and Galaxy Map Pack DLC was on schedule to be released the 24th of February which is tomorrow, but the devs haven't confirmed anything yet.

Normally I'd take the basis of such rumors with a grain of salt but it does support certain post PC patch claims of devs forewarning users of altering their control settings as it may conflict with "vehicle controls."

We'll see what happens later this week. As for Kasumi I'm sitting on a stockpile of points right now so the question doesn't really apply to me. I'm going to download it whether or not a purchase is required but with EA at the helm it is only a matter of time before these freebies run out. I'd imagine if Kasumi is free then I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of it.

Yeah, the free DLC will dry up sooner or later.

But at the same time, it's not totally free since the Cerberus network is part of the purchase price, and $15 for people buying used....so maybe we'll get a bit more than we expect for free. But it is EA, so I doubt it. Wouldn't be suprised if any quest DLC costs money, and just stuff like Kasumi, guns, armor etc. is free--i.e. stuff not that useful to most people who beat the game already.

What I want for DLC is sadly Pinnacle Station. I just want to shoot and do abilities through a Cerberus training room (would be my equivalent to multiplayer*as in continuous play*). I mean come on Xmen has a sparing room and this is waaaayyyyy into the future compared to X-men. ^^

If the Cerberus network concept really is to work, to get people to buy new and not used, then I think they'd better be rolling out more free DLC. What they've given out thus far isn't really enough to convince most people to plunk down the extra $15 to download, or the extra whatever to buy new.
What I want for DLC is sadly Pinnacle Station. I just want to shoot and do abilities through a Cerberus training room (would be my equivalent to multiplayer*as in continuous play*).
I don't know. Pinnacle Station was pretty weak DLC. If it was made considerably better, with more storyline to it, it might work. But I'd want a lot more than just a Pinnacle Station port to ME2.

Or was originally planned to be in the game but got cut or couldn't make release. A PE revival would also work perfectly in ME2 as is because the shooter mechanics are already solid and an Arena-esque DLC doesn't need a worthwhile storyline. What could use a revamp in terms of story are the minute side quests riddled throughout the game. >_>

As cool as it would be to get the Hammerhead DLC tomorrow, I seriously doubt it's going to happen. I would think that Bioware would want to hype up the first big download for ME2 a bit rather than just drop it unannouced. The PC patch that tweaked with vehicle controls was a good sign, though. Hopefully it's close.

The "Mission Complete" screen says that only about a third of the colony was abducted. It's possible the Collectors retreated before she was harvested. I always assumed the seeker swarm toxin could wear off before someone was placed in one of those pods.

Thanks. I was wondering about that. A part of me had been wondering if they had a duplicate of her or something. In a game with people pods, it's the first thing that crossed my mind.
