Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread
Here's another ME rifle - the ME2's M8 Avenger Rifle. Link. And this one looks like it'll actually be available through retail!
I think my pants just tightened a bit.
Sorry for the double post, though here's an "unofficial" FemShep for ME3:
Looks like she stepped out of one of those Korean MMOs... Not my thing I guess.

Some interesting comments today from Tycho at Penny Arcade over the backlash to blonde Shepard.
It’s genuinely bizarre what people are trying to get away with here. They’ve rendered the shopworn “blonde joke” with post-modern foofaraw, and finished it with an organic Açai reduction. It’s ridiculous. I wasn’t aware this was something we still tolerated? I always forget which people we may stereotype safely; it’s entirely possible I missed the latest communique.
Personally I'm 100% in agreement. I voted for Shepard 5 because I happen to like blonde hair on women (I prefer short hair too-- #1's cut with #5's color would have been my ideal, but alas). Hell, I married a blonde woman. But I guess she must be a bimbo and I must be a shallow idiot, because that's what having or liking blonde hair means.

God, I need to just scrape out the part of my brain that knows the URL to the BioWare official forums, I can't take the stupidity anymore.

Kinda curious.. The game starts off with the reaper invasion and shepard has to assemble an army all over the galaxy.. Will we get a deadline on how fast we should bring support? Because if we do side missions on other planets, it just gives time for the reapers to win :p

ME2 had a mechanic like this where there would be more crew casualties depending on how long you took to enter the Omega 4 relay, so I wouldn't be surprised if ME3 did something similar, maybe on a larger scale.

i thought in ME2,
as long as you complete the all of your squad members loyalty missions, they wont die. and thats assuming you do them before triggering a certain event in the game.
maybe im wrong, i forgot lol :booty:

EDIT: whopps! sorry! added spoiler tags

ME2 spoilers are safe here, right? I'm talking about Kelly, Dr. Chakwas and the other kidnapped Normandy crew whose safety depends on how much time you waste before going into the Omega 4 after it becomes accessible.
I really need to pick up The Arrival this week... not enough time in the day. *sigh*
You missed it being on sale for 1/2 off last week.
ME2 spoilers are safe here, right?
Feel free to discuss anything/everything related to ME1 and ME2 (and the already released comics/books) without using spoiler tags.

If it's advice that people are looking for, or even if they just want something set straight (as far as story elements go), send 'em on over to the ME2 lounge and I'll handle it

*sigh* This is going to require my forced-optimism generators to go into hyperdrive. I've been a hardcore single player only guy until this year, so this can be okay.....maybe.....I do believe in miracles. As long as it doesn't take away from the main storyline. Could they just be referencing the already confirmed co-op??

Argh.

This has a high potential to be lame.

At least make it like Dead Space 2-- make it totally optional with no penalties (missed gamerscore or unlocks or whatever) for ignoring it.

Sigh.

Guess we'll see the details soon enough. I'll try to stay optimistic about it and hope a totally separate team is at the helm. Any compromises involving the single player experience would be horrible.

Co-op I could see. Competitive Multiplayer...not so much. To note though, Casey Hudson shot down the multiplayer rumor at Comic Con (and multiple times before). He said they couldn't find a suitable way to implement it into the Mass Effect Universe. Just something to think about. If this is true I don't particularly care as long as it doesn't take way from the single player.

Only real fear is that it'll take development time and resources away from single player. I can ignore an inferior multiplayer quite easily, but not an inferior single player.

If it's co-op, it better not have ANYTHING to do with the main story. If I have someone on my friends list controlling Garrus during a mission, it just wouldn't feel right. Now, if it was a co-op side campaign that followed a group of Alliance marines or something, that could work... as long as it doesn't take anything away from the single player, be it resources or development.

look at deus ex human resource.. so far the early reviews are high and a 10/10 by xbox mag UK.. all coop and 20-40 hours in length.. thats just like mass effect 2. i dont mind a game like that.. i hope the MP doesnt take away from the quality of SP

I have no source other then the people of the internet, but those who have bought the magazine and read through it have said that the article was only a recap of all the rumors we have heard about multiplayer. No multiplayer, unless the rumor of multiplayer being playable at Gamescon is valid. ;)

Man, what a lame stunt by the magazine if this is true. Credibility: vanished.

If it's co-op like that, the single player should be unaffected as the computer would just control your squad mates (and you could still give them commands I assume) just like always if you're not playing with anyone else.

I doubt they'd build anything into it that made it suck playing without someone else like RE5. It would probably be more like say Halo Reach where you can play co-op, but it's just as fun by yourself and plays just like prior Halo games.

That said, I still don't buy it. And from the posts above it looks like it's still just BS rumors.

There is no reason for any sort of Multi-player in a Mass Effect game. There wasn't any in the first 2 games, and it's DLC, so really there is no reason to implement it now. And if they did implement it, it should be something like Arikado mentioned or maybe a horde mode or something.

Here is to hoping it's just BS rumors. I don't want my most anticipated game of next year to ruined by EA, or some overzealous designer's, need for multi-player for no reason. *prays*

Looks like slapping MULTIPLAYER! on the front of the issue was just a way to sell some magazines: Take a look:

Just bought the mag and there is one tiny paragraph that says: "Well, if you believe the rumours - which we certainly do - ME3 will have MP. According to various sources, there will be a batch of 3 player co-op missions that run parallel to the main story, with each player assuming the role of a single squad mate. It seems likely that this will happen, and it'll form part of EA's Online Pass system. However devs have been known to ditch MP during development in the past, if it doesn't work..."

So they just quoted the usual rumours and put the word 'multiplayer' on the cover.

What a shitty tactic by Xbox World.

thats what i thought too lol.

i still cant believe i slept with her... and it was accidental too -_-

Good Lord. Can this game look any more amazing?

First of all, that EA intro with the omni tool gives me goosebumps, so freaking cool. Then, did you see that firey, omni bitch slap move? What was that, besides insanely cool?

And, is it just me or are the graphics really that much of an improvement over ME2? They look really, truly impressive. Is that what ME2 looks like on the PS3?
