Can't speak for him, but the Arrival was awful. Just really, really bad. The invalidation of player choice was bad. A lot of the story choices also felt "eh." I really like the way things mattered for the final mission, though. I dunno, Alpha Protocol really spoiled me for "choices impact narrative."
The first part of Arrival with the "stealth" area and the break-out of the scientist from the batarians wasn't that great, I'll give you that.
The ending combat sequence as you're trying to get off the station was pretty good, and the last bit of it on the surface of the station was pretty amazing, IMO.
Well there I'd have to disagree with as I found Arrival to be very important and fresh when I was playing ME2. I also liked having to rely on myself and that one survival achievement was a challenge to get. You also felt vulnerable with the amount of time ticking down so fast and it being just you. The pacing was great and they gave us more backstory. I'd agree it might not have been a good DLC at $7 bucks or whatever they priced it as although grabbing it on sale is that sweet spot price range I think. Really the DLC should have been tied to ME2's Cerberus Network.
That achievement pissed me off in how irritating it was to get, though I was happy when I finally nailed it down.
I do agree that $7 for it was overpaying for it and it should have been cheaper or free, since it was "bridge" DLC into ME3 (which never really came up save in a single comment or two at the beginning).

So stoked over this announcement. I pretty much figured that they had no other choice, to be honest, but it still makes me happy to think that I can finally have some closure to this series. I'm not expecting this additional/extended ending to be personally handcrafted for me, but I certainly want this feeling of "someone ripped out the last few pages of this book and duct-taped a page from a coloring book in its place" to go away.
Gonna keep the excitement in check (for my own sake) - but I'm still gonna keep the faith, though.
I'm waiting for the inevitable head-explosion you'll have either way with the ending, be it suckage or amazing.
