I have to say the points I get from Bing have really made me a cheap ass. I want to pick this up however I don't know when I will play it. So I'm holding out till I get the points from Bing and I will get it then. I still haven't played much of the DLC for 2 and none of what I have downloaded for the single player in 3.
Gah this work day is gonna suuuuuccckkk. I contemplated putting more points onto my account this morning so I could add this puppy to the queue at work, though I totally forgot to do that (because yeah it's the f'n morning).
Talon and Savior are story-related and unmissable. Meticulous is missable and here is a guide. (There is info in there that some may consider spoilers.)
Man. Today is gonna be a long day. I can't wait to get home and play this tonight. They said 4it hours of content, right?
I saw some reviews on X360A, the consensus seems to be more like 2.5 hours. It seems like it's getting kind of a lukewarm reception so far, maybe due to the price.

LoTSB was about 2-2.5 hours long and it was 800 pts.
Leviathan was about 1.5-2 hours long and it was 800 points, same for From Ashes.
If it was 4 hours long, I wouldn't have much issue with the 1200 points, though 2.5 hours, it's a little irritating.
Well I'll be playing it tonight so I'll try to keep an eye on the clock. I usually find any "official" estimates of gameplay time to be wildly inflated. I have been accused of speeding through RPGs though.
I won't get a chance to touch it until the weekend at the earliest, so I'm sure there will be plenty of time for you and a few of the usual suspects in here to give it the once over and provide some solid opinions of it.
I'm guessing we'll see some commentary from you, Arikado, Tha X and chubby, plus theredworm and Anexa by tommorrow morning.

Not sure when I'll get a chance to play it (maybe tonight), but I'll be sure to post my thoughts whenever I've done.
Ok just finished Omega DLC and I had a blast running through it myself. Raptr says I played 2 hours but It felt longer than that, hmm. Alright so without getting into spoilers we get new enemies, new weapon mods, new locales to fight, new allies and a new adversary. The background and lore behind this DLC is new and fresh, yet familiar. I ran through it on Hardcore as a Vanguard and yeah maybe that's why it didn't take longer. I still felt there was a meaty amount of content to go through, it is a shame that the decisions made in the DLC don't carry over but why should ME's DLC be held to this? There were a few buggy sequences and yeah it was funny watching Aria running faster than she should just to keep up with me (there's a place where you can leap over cover and she has to go around (although she does leap cover, which I thought was weird)) For what it's worth though I recommend it for fans and if you have the willpower to see if this will go on sale for Christmas and all then I say do it if you can. I ran through as my Renegade Femshep, since this is my 2nd playthrough profile, and thought it went well with having Aria in your squad, heh heh. Kinda pissed off you see more skin on TV though but eh, I liked it. In the end Aria just
kisses Shepard and then looks away. It was fun to unite Omega and all the scum and villainy plus you get that with your overall galactic rating so there's that.
I played about 45 minutes tonight and its awesome. It moves fast and doesn't screw around with too much fluff. It's worth the cost if your a hardcore fan, no doubt. Aria's salty language was worth the cost of admission alone!
Took me about three hours. Good DLC overall, some cool setpieces, and the Omega scenery is very impressive. The final combat encounter was annoying though.
Overall I'd say it was good, but not quite as interesting from a lore or gameplay standpoint as Leviathan was. I wouldn't begrudge anyone waiting until this was on sale for 800 or 560 points.
I played Omega for about 2.5 hours last night and still feel like I have a ways to go to finish this story. Now, I do a fair amount of exploration and sightseeing, so to be fair we could call it 2 hours of gameplay, but I still feel like there must be another hour of content waiting for me.
I am really enjoying it and love seeing more of Omega. I was a little annoyed at some of the glitches (during one scene Aria simply vanishes from one place and re-appears on the other side of the screen) but at no point have I encountered anything that interfered with the experience.
Love getting to know Aria more.
Although based on her established personality, I just can't see her volunteering to take orders from anyone on the battlefield, even Shep. Bioware should have just left it alone and moved on because it seemed out of character.
What classes were you guys running with?
Level 60 Soldier, on Normal. The Cerberus fights were no trouble, but I did appreciate the aggressiveness of the new enemies. Those Rampart mechs get up in your face fast, and the adjutants were worse than banshees. I failed the ending part a couple times by trying to hunker down and fight; I kept getting pinned down by Nemeses and then a couple of adjutants rush you from both sides at once and it's all over. I finally had to ignore the enemies and just flat-out run to the destinations. It felt cheesy but I don't know how else you're supposed to survive.
Anyway I did all of the Renegade dialogue so I'm planning to run through it again with an Engineer to see the Paragon responses.

Yeah the Cerberus guys were usually not a problem, an Atlas shifts it in their favor but I had shield drain as my special. Those turrets are still a pain but yeah the end that's what I did after I died by getting flanked and shot by annoying simple Cerberus soldiers after I had lost shields from a Nemesis.
Those Rampart Mechs are worthy opponents, as with the adjutants, but with Aria's Carnage hitting after your allies' Overload, it made short work and I had tech bursts all over the place with my Vanguard build.
They still sound majorly butthurt over main campaign's ending.
Ironically their original ME3 review gave the game 10/10 and didn't mention any problems with the ending.
A lot of publications, or I guess media outlets, didn't want to offend Bioware so many did in fact not state anything about the ending in their reviews.

Yup... hedging their bets and waiting to see which way the wind would blow. Though they sure jumped on the bandwagon as soon as it was clear that the fans were unhappy.
I'll give IGN credit, I don't agree with the majority of their writers' stances on the game, particuarly Colin Moriarity, but they've stayed consistent and saying they didn't hate the ME 3 ending, most of them liking it.
$15 for 2-3 hours?! F that. Sale time purchase only.
The only single-player DLC that's been released for over $10 that's been worth it IMO is the Skyrim stuff (Dawnguard from the summer and Dragonborn next week.) I guess the GTA IV stuff was worth the $20 that it was asked for back in 2010 since it was over 10 hours of content also but I didn't like GTA IV.
I may be an internet D-bag, but I have these hard limits of $10 on DLC/downloadable games that you have to be superb for me to go over that limit. For example I've only bought 2 XBLA games at full price this year, Alan Wake: AN and Magic 2013. And I'm someone that "owns" over 100 XBLA games.

Not totally true. A lot of media just made fun of the fan reaction. But with the free Extended Cut looking like an admission of guilt, everyone's clear to bandwagon on, just like with GTA IV and... actually, I don't have any other examples handy.
This is the part where I'd put up that Escapist article explaining why reviewers are hesitant to even talk about that sort of thing in the first place, but... eh. Effort.

Lol sir you have a talent as I too have over 100 XBLA games, hell I've had my 360 since '06 (what I mean is that I don't have the willpower as you stated).
Totally agree Lost & the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were totally worth it, even better than the core game imo.
I think you miss out though if you go $ = hours of play. I highly enjoyed Arrival, because you were all alone and without your squad (vulnerable) yet that was relatively short.

This is CAG, you're in like minded company. I've reduced my retail game price point to $15. Every time I exceed it, I end up regretting it. $15 for a few hours of DLC? GTFO!
As for the ME3 ending controversy, totally overblown nerd rage. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was stupid (have yet to play the extended cut). Aside from that, the rest of the story in ME3 was pretty great. ME3 had the best combat in the series. The upgrade system hit a sweet spot between the almost missing system of ME2 to the painful to navigate unique ammo upgrade per gun per character in ME1. Plus it has an addictive (if shallow) MP mode. ME3 is the best game in a great series. It deserved the good reviews it got despite its ending.
The following spoiler tag protects you from a tl;dr rant and actual spoiler(s).
Now, as for the ending a simple tweak would've made it better IMO (but invited just as much, if not more, nerd rage). Remember in the ending when Shepard is barely alive and Hackett calls in wanting to know what's up? That part was awesome, everything up to that point was fine. What if that opens the citadel up, the crucible connects (but not in the pornographic way in the actual cut scene), a pulse or explosion takes place and wipes out your view of the action. I'm talking Sopranos style hard cut to black. No space baby. No stupid non-explanation that Reapers are sent in to prevent organics and AIs from fighting. No Peter Faulk & Fred Savage bed time story BS. Boom. Over. Want to know what happened? Puzzle it our yourself.
ME3 fell into the all too common video game trap of way too much exposition while still not making any damn sense. Maybe that was Bioware's nod to JRPGs? Maybe biotic powers are a result of midi-chlorians as long as we're replacing fantasy and wonder with stupid?
After reading about the extended cut I'm even more baffled that the worst ending you can get is by not accepting space baby's choices. Here's a psychopath that gives no coherent justification as to why its been committing massive genocide for eons. Why would I do anything it says? I want to find wherever that thing is stored and turn whatever is left of it into a Pollock painting using a Krogan Claymore as my brush.

I don't see that as very different than what did happen. Pre-Extended Cut, the game ended without giving you any meaningful information about what had happened and what state the galaxy was now in.
Well there's talk about the big ol' Powerball yet come to find out that one of the cinemas that is showing the one night theatrical event of Mass Effect: Paragon Lost is literally down the street from me in Greensboro lol. http://masseffectparagonlost.com/screenings
I wasn't loving the previews but those odds right, hmm maybe I should check it out.
Update: Hmm "Tickets are no longer available online. Please check with the box office.", although my order went through.

You know I only have you beat by a few months, got my 360 in Jan. 06. You were one of the first CAG's I met online and friended. I still remember trying to play you online in games and it lagging b/c of the satellite internet and we talked about how my parents in southern IL had that at the time also (it's not gotten much better, they have 4g wireless card now.)

If you get to go, please report back. I loved the Dragon Age one, need to buy the Tales of Vesperia one with XMas money, and hope the ME anime is good, but the lead character worries me.
Lol those were the days, wait a minute no they weren't. Yeah I remember owning in Burnout, because I'm great at racers but they were all complaining about my teleporting car. Ehh they might have had a point there. Because of CAG and Xbox Forums, with a few other sites too, my friend's list is always populated.
Called the place and they said they're going to do a 9 o clock screening too, if I can't get the ticket I paid for online.

Somewhat shameless promotion, but I think it'll add to the conversation.
My first reaction to the ending was "wtf? Something's wrong here." So I immediately hit google despite it being 2am. There are some interesting things said that aligned with my gut feelings, and I discuss them a bit on a podcast I did, Splitkick Spoils Mass Effect 3: http://splitkick.com/splitkick-spoils-mass-effect-3/
(I think our review was pretty different, too: http://splitkick.com/mass-effect-3-review/)
Overall, I have positive feelings for the game, especially the bite-sized multiplayer, but
I'm disappointed Omega did not address some of the spoiler points I bring up in the podcast. It was their chance to wrap up a GotY and they threw it away.
Just wrapped up Omega. Pretty fun look into a character I've liked for a long time, but I'm glad I picked up a cheap MSP card here on CAG. I think I might have been a little miffed actually paying full price for it.
That's cool that you can go to that screening. I'm looking forward to the movie, it should be interesting.
So I was able to get in and this place has the "theater" (it's a guy's personal projector and screen about 4 feet wide or so) in the basement of this coffehouse place. Not a bad place, good vibe and when I left there were two people playing some Street Fighter on the TV.
So seeing that screen and me spending $11 bucks on the ticket online, $1.34 for online fee (although I am grateful I could order last night and get to watch it), didn't get me in a positive mood to start. I got a free T-Shirt though, pics below, in spoiler to save space.
Front of the shirt says Forever Normandy and is the emblem Vega wears?
What I wore there:
Gotta sport Garrus
Now about the movie, why do I have to be so into this damn franchise lol, kept laughing or just shaking my head; those Krogans, the proportions used through this movie is baffling at times and the badassery of the Space Marines until they get into you know actual combat, but overall it was enjoyable. However you're gonna ask yourself why the hell did they do a movie on Vega and then again why the hell did they do this after ME3 released. This is also done by the production house behind Ghost in the Shell, one of my favorites, and quite frankly actually it looked like a Saturday morning cartoon show, akin to like watching Dragon Ball Z.
This is a film that bridges the gap of ME2 and ME3 right, well it didn't feel like that (as a lot of things happened made no sense in this regard). It's also said to be written by Bioware but to me they got a lot of things wrong (although one could say it's just another adaptation of the Mass Effect universe). The main trope is it's a story about Vega (and this isn't really a big Mass Effect story, more like a chapter, a forgettable one unfortunately), yeah this and that but bottom line he's a pussy, sorry just an average "grunt". I mean you know what's going to happen because you played Mass Effect 3. If you love animes, then I say yeah go ahead and watch it, but if you don't I'd say only watch it if you're a big Mass Effect fan. If they did this film about Akuze or the Rachni Wars or anything else significant I would have said yeah go for it.
I give it a 3 out of 5 for me. Felt like I got a shotty but decent at times Mass Effect anime film. I liked Dredd 3D more, for a prequel Shepard story or whatever, but I think they're just trying to cash in on the Mass Effect franchise here imo.
