Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

Squad goal...this should be cake, esp if you have an earth pack character. I think I'll do it on silver just to get it out of the way 1st unless CAG in d'house then we do it bling bling style nahmsayin?

Special Circumstance? so, we all turtle longer in FWG? roger dat.

if they be stompin your heads in gold, I might do a lot of silver runs to level up my characters. I never really recovered from the promote 3 lvl 20's operation.

I'll be on deck for some golds this weekend. I was a little heated when I made that post last night; it's honestly not the worst thing in the world. It's more of a bummer when your random teammate lets an Assault Trooper waltz right past him to make paste out of your face.

Harrier's cool, but damn that ammo dries up quick. Think I'll probably stick with the Claymore/Saber setup on my Destroyer for now. That class has grown on me hard.

you know if CK the Boss was w/you he would have totally let you be foot paste but then carried the team to extraction solo...with dat guy at least you can count on him to not play like a team member and that's better than empty hope on randoms.

Hahahahaha, stop remembering his name!
I'd love to see Brandon Keener, Liz Sroka, et al. lend their voices to the movie for any characters who would likely be CGI or have concealed faces anyway. Tricia Helfer and Seth Green could actually play their characters wholesale.
If they don't use the voice actors that have voice the non-human characters, they'd be insane without question.

I can't imagine any of the non-human characters without their respective voice actors. It just wouldn't work and I could see it bombing for that reason alone.

Keith David as Captain Anderson and Lance Henriksen as Admiral Hackett would be good choices as well IMO.

Although thinking about it just makes me wish they had an actual actor potray Shepard, and not some male model.

Anyway, guess I'll have to play some in the next couple days to try and unlock an N7 character.

Besides those two, there's no other ones that jump out at me that would be mistakes if they didn't cast.

Seth Green for Joker also seems like a "duh" choice, though you never can tell.

Yvonne Strahovski, assuming there's elements from ME2/ME3 in the film or a sequel.

In terms of "It's not Mass Effect without ___'s voice", Martin Sheen's performance as the Illusive Man is maybe the one performance that defines Mass Effect for me. That would hurt to hear a different voice for that character. Martin Sheen is probably too old to play TIM though.

Yea, Harrier really needs an increase to spare ammo, say 80 to 120 minimum. I don't actually mind the magazine size, just that the spare needs more. Also, being made a Rare item would help a lot. Even with the Destroyer's 60% magazine increase, it's only 48/80 at Harrier I (with extended magazine, I might add).

TIM would have to be done by Martin Sheen for the voice, yes. Unless they pulled a Jeff Bridges-style de-aging process like they did in Tron Legacy, it couldn't be done properly. No question there. Was odd that I saw him when he was in The Amazing Spiderman as Uncle Ben and that same evening I finished ME3 with the endgame including TIM. ;)
I honestly hope the movie gets stuck in development hell. I just can't see it being good.
The Bioshock movie's been in development hell for a while, so this might suffer the same fate.

I can't see them getting it right either, though you never know. Give it to a director that knows what he's doing and we might get lucky. Anyone but Uwe Boll.
New Operation for this weekend

Operation OVERWATCH drops troops on Earth to tackle the most secure Reaper strongholds. Reaper anti-air defense will make for high-risk shuttle extractions.
Squad Goal: Extraction on any difficulty with at least one squad member using an Earth Pack character
Allied Goal: Extract 800,000 individual players on any difficulty, with each live member counting toward the goal.
Squad Goal Success: All squad members awarded a Commendation Pack.
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack that includes a new Earth character.
Special Circumstance: Extraction time lengthened due to failure of Operation BROADSIDE.
Requirement: Mass Effect: Earth must be installed to earn these rewards.
So, what happens if you have all the Earth DLC characters and customization options? I have all and I'm getting close to maxing out all options for each one.

Chris Priestley tweeted that if you have all of the Earth Characters that you'll get a rare card instead. So, at least they thought of that. It seems like they tried to be extra specific about the details this time, which is nice.

Got matched with a random lobby for my first platinum experience earlier. Firebase Glacier, Geth, 3 level 20 characters, and a 16; everyone was dead within the first 90 seconds. Ouch.

Thanks for the info; it's good to know.

And while it's nice that they'll try to "do better next time", it's kind of sad they won't own up to their mistake from last time. Clarification wasn't received until halfway through the Operation, possibly resulting in a lot of frustrated MP people.

I talked to support a few days ago and they said oh yeah you should have gotten a Commendation Pack, you can wait for the next weekend challenge as today it's expired (or something like that). Wooot, another Operation! I'm gonna get two CPs this time. ^^
AND my vote for Shepard would be Karl Urban but than again I'm looking forward to Dredd 3D and I thought he was a good soldier in Doom.

I mean come on, Mass Effect weapon action shot.

I had also thought Jessica Steen, Armageddon notoriety (badass astronaut vibe), for femShep but like you mentioned they're going with a male actor.

Also I don't understand how, as this is the main quality of the series, a movie could show branching storylines with Paragon/Renegade decisions. Yeah in that sense I agree hope it stalls out, hoping it's completely as awesome as it sounds under my breath.

God no, she was bad enough as that idiot reporter. Almost made me do some renegade shit on my paragon Shep just to get her ass off my boat.

Yeah, I didn't see the point of putting her in the game. It almost seems like IGN paid for her to be in it. Bad acting and pointless. A pretty face. Just useless.

Agree it was an odd choice to include her but she is a passionate fan of the series and not a question why she got asked.

Yeah I agree, that def looks like a SMG, Dredd's weapon.^^

If she was so "passionate" about Mass Effect, you'd think she wouldn't have sounded so bored in the game.

LOL @ "passionate" for Mass Effect. We're talking about the same lady that drilled into "entitled" fans raging over the endings before she could even find the time to finish the game.

Freddie was passionate.

Chobot was just well... there.

Hell, she wasn't even "there" for me. I kicked those battle tits to the curb so fast. I appreciated her inclusion just for the purpose of making her gtfo my Normandy.

Really was pretty bad though. Kind of a bummer when she probably has more dialog recorded and played than Aria (or anyone, really) who I'm infinitely more interested in.

"chobot" sounds like a term used by school age boys in the '90's as a derogatory term that, according to them means donkey pubes or something.

That character could have been interesting, but she came across as a stereotypical, TMZ-type, gossip reporter. And that's kind of a shame, because that could have been an interesting aspect to the game. I still have never seen or heard of this chobot outside of ME related discussion. Maybe I'm a lucky one.

Actually you're probably an unlucky one. Outside Mass Effect, she's a not-especially-offensive (and quite hot) blogger/host/"personality". Her character and performance in ME3 is way more annoying than anything else she's done IMO.

she's been on a ton of IGN vids on the xbox dashboard, basically anything that gives you info on achievement tips, cheats, and strategies. her last name is Horn actually (now Herter) and she married Blair Herter ironically. i don't hate her, i just wasn't a big fan of her ME rendering. Not sure where Chobot came frome, possible it was Chabot and just was spelled different during her ancestor's trip to elis island. Chabot is a character from Law & Order as well as a cheese brand.

Well that makes sense to me, passionate about the thing they love and the person would often jump the gun on opinions without the good sense to take a while to mull it over and think about it critically. She was a big fan of the Mass Effect series, esp ME2.

When I bought a Veteran Pack today (for shits and giggles), I realized that BioWare completely screwed over new players. By making a lot of temporary mods Common/Uncommon/Rare, it doesn't help to buy Recruit -> Veteran -> Premium Spectre packs to acquire the Common/Uncommon weapons.

Well, you could still do it that way but there's going to be a lot more trash to get through.

It made me kind of sad for new players.

I don't understand how that screws over new players. That's what I did at launch and X'd all my commons and uncommons in a week.

Edit: Bad wording, if you take into account that people no longer get char or respec dupes it's not all that different

Meant with the addition of the new Uncommon/Rare temporary mods. Also, Common characters cards will always be there. BioWare promised no more UC/Rare char cards.

When you and I X'd out all our Common/Uncommon weapons, we didn't have the new UC temporary mods. And that makes it more tedious to wade through the trash to get to weapons.

Let me emphasize that for you: THE UC TEMP MODS. THE NEW TEMP MODS.

Of course, there's more than just new UC temp mods. Now there's new permanent mods as well.

Another fun night with the CAG and 2o2p crew. Spy, we should have tried that platinum method in the vid above on the Vancouver map. This N7 operation has to be the easiest one so far, though. We gotta hit the 800K extractions. I mean, how could the community NOT hit that?
I mean, how could the community NOT hit that?
BioWare's asking themselves the same question about Diana Allers.

"Battle Tits" is my new favorite phrase lol, and for the record, whenever we have an all CAG group, the person who does not say Battle Tits at least once a round has to wear pink armor the next game.

I'll post more feelings on the ol movie later, but if they fuck it up i will personally drive there to kick them in the testicles. And I want Wrex in so we can find out how he got the damn scars.

and for packs.. sweet hell. i went through about 20 premiums and got an upgrade to my Paladin IV, Talon IV, finally got a Javelin now that i dont need it, did get Stronghold V and Grenade Capacity IV.. other than that.. all Level 4 ammo and armor mods.... fail. I want a Typhoon damnit, and the Salarian Pistol... I have all my characters ad customization slots... so i am down to Ultra Rares and rare gear packs... my odds of getting one thing are now exponentially higher due to unlimited ability to get rare ammo.. fuck

Yeah, I really dislike that they chose to make uncommon/rare ammo. Sure it's more useful than character cards, but it was just another troll tactic by BioWare to deny us of our Ultra Rares.

i fully understand the need to drive players to come back for more playtime to get credits, but making it a needle in a haystack of needles chance now to get Ultra Rares you do not have, let alone level up the ones you have to where they are actually better than rares level to X. Personally, i do not think you should get ammo, gear ones make a bit more sense as they are permanent, until you have at least all ultra Rares unlocked, it is shitty to get expendables of one games value when you still need items that are forever unlocked to use.

I agree completely. People on the BSN have been complaining that it seems like perma mods are even rarer than Weapon Rares. And in my own playtime, I've found that to be quite true.

The "drop" rates on these mods needs to be increased by a fair bit because getting "one and done" mods is getting somewhat irritating. Useful, but irritating.

id vouch for that, i am sitting on 8 Level 4 Cyclonics, 9 Sniper Rifle 4, and about 12 different level 4 ammos on the top of my head, so out of about 40 rares give or take about 3/4 have been expendables.... its crap.

I got one of the new ME figures that comes with a multiplayer DLC code, does anyone know exactly what it gives you? I want to know if it's worth opening the figure or not.

EDIT: Judging from the posts on BSN it's just Veteran pack stuff. Not worth opening then.

Man I am super pissed off at Geth Rocket Troopers. They're rockets are almost un-dodable, super fast and always homing in on you. The other night one was behind cover standing up and instead of having the animation of them exiting cover on the side to shoot he just shot me from under his arm!? WTF!

I still haven't gotten 1 Earth class, aauugh.

Did get a new Marital Biotics Rare thing, % boost for melee and biotic attacks.
Just curious...which one did you get?
Miranda. I would have gotten Garrus too but the only ones the store had were her and Mordin.
