Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!
I hope there is in the main menu. I didn't check cuz I hopped on MGO.

I got the frog, pig, hyena, cow, and I think wolf? I'll have to double check.

Wow I'm still amazed over that ending. Hahahaha that dude from MGS1 who shit himself married Meryl. I knew I should have put two and two together and figured out it was him.

I got Tarantula, Inchworm, Hyena, and Pig emblems after my first playthrough.

I just finished this game early this morning. Wow, that was an impressive game. It really had a cinematic feel to it that is rare for games.

By the way, what is that solar gun?
yeah...end of act 3, beginning of act 4. too much awful cut scene. I had a decent grasp of the story of the whole series before this game, but they lost me, it's retarded, but the game play is amazing in this one.

Quite obvious kojima didn't have the story planned out before making 3.
Major Zero... wat. he seemed like a nice guy
Portable Ops explains a lot of this too. In fact that game tells us Major Zero, Ocelot, and Big Boss were members of the Patriots before MGS4 does. So it's really not that big a shock.

Pretty much.
The man behind everything is referred to as the "man with the same codename as Null." In set theory, a null set is an empty set...when that contains zero (even though this usage is no longer common). Then, Ocelot is talking with this shadow man at the end of the game and agrees to help form the Patriots, but only if Big Boss is part of it, as well.

I got 5 emblems my first time through:
Scorpion: Awarded to expert soldiers who neutralized (read: killed) a small number of enemies, were rarely spotted, and died only a few times.

Frog: Awarded to soldiers who frequently roll forward (and sideways from what I gather).

Inchworm: Awarded to soldiers who crawl on the ground.

Lobster: Frequently moved while crouching.

Hyena: Worked dilligently to procure items on the battlefield.

And my major award:
Hawk: Those who recieved much praise on the battlefield from fellow soldiers fighting PMC's.

Actually, it never reveals that
Para-Medic, Sigint or Eva were a part of it. That much proved to be a shocker to me.
Diazpem (or however you spell it, it's been around since MGS1). I believe the syringe works too.
You can also make sure that Snakes psyche and life gauges are maxed out-- The more they are, the steadier his aim. I defeated her without using the drug at all.
USB headsets work on PS3 without a problem.
The old USB PS2 works flawlessly-- you can also use your bluetooth headset as well.

I loved the whole
Sigint is the DARPA chief, Daniel Anderson revelation.
Great way to help tie the games together.
I wonder if we'll be able to play Akiba on MGO down the line. I know snake isn't the only character planned for online.
I don't see why not. You got to play his father in MGPO if you recruited him.
I'm looking forward to Meryl and Raiden. I'd really love to see a Raiden Vs. Gekko online battle-- maybe have a third squad as Rat patrol 1 backing him up.
How long is MGS 4 generally?
I watched every cutscenes and took my time the first time through - 20 hours.

Second time through, no cutscenes, quickly passing through areas without ever getting noticed (no alerts) - 5 hours.

Hope that helps.

I didn't.

I kicked you once on accident because I was trying to make a CAG only room, and I didn't recognize your username. I guess if you get kicked from a server, it blocks you so that is probably why you experienced multiple bootings when trying to re-enter.

I apologize, afterwards marten and Casey told me that they had played with you before.

I thought that part of the game was cool, how everything came together from all the previous MGS games.

Blah, oh well, no harm intended. Why don't we just set the password in the thread? CAG or something?

Anyone want to play tonight?

Kojima is our generation's Mark Twain. He tells a timeless classic of nanomachines, curium, and talking hands. This game will completely change the course of history and quite possibly....the world.

This is irrelevant, but I still think of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 as 10 material. It's true, that was the peak of the series.

I don't like skating either.

I'm in, last night was pretty fun. Except I couldn't get my mic to work.

I have to respectfully disagree with you there, and go with THPS2 as the 10. Part three was just MOTS, without really taking advantage of the PS2's power. Levels were small and boring, characters were still ugly, etc. It wasn't until they ripped off Agressive Inline's mission system that it got better in 4.

On topic, am I crazy, or did I see a
huge Mt. Rushmore on Liquid's ship at the end of Act 4, but with Liquid, Big Boss, and possibly Zero on it?
That had me laughing out loud, along with
the way that Liquid struts back to his ship after "defeating" Snake
. I'm really loving this game; almost finished (I'm at the
new Psycho Mantis boss fight (I forget her name)
)

I think I saw an oldboy in the game last night. I couldn't get MGO to recognize my headset either.

Yeah, I'm having a lot of trouble. Only one person said they could hear me. But I've been in a lot of games where we are in the lobby, a few people have the the mic icons, they flash, but no one can hear each other. The only people I've played that have had success are with usb ones.

Played with espy for a minute last night....Everyone knows they have to go into gameplay options to set up their mic?? Also hit select in lobby/room to turn VC on

Yeah, I know. The game recognizes I have a mic, but people cant hear me. Sometimes I can hear them though. The conversation usually consists of them saying "hello, can you hear me" a few times, but they cant hear me answer.

People can hear me and I am using a Samsung WEP 200 bluetooth headset.

Nope, you did on the first point. That was no illusion. I was hoping to see it again actually, but it was only the one time. Point two was hilarious and playful. Point three is "Screaming".

Lobbies-- until teams are picked-- are open. Once people pick a team, only your team can hear you in the countdown screen, even tho the other team's mics are flashing. Only after the match is over can everyone hear everyone again.

I'm going to play the game again and try to get the stuff I missed. Does the "no kills" only count for humans or robots too?

yes, yes. I understand that. I'm talking about people on my team, in lobby, in game, whenever. Its my mic, not the games fault.

Gekkos and the mini-gekkos (the orb-armed buggers) are considered non-human, as are
Raging Raven's winged minions.
Feel free to blow the crap out of them.

Hmm there were a lot of names I didn't recognize last night. I was mostly preoccupied with trying to avoid being killed by Rock.

There's a bunch of spots where I can't imagine getting through without killing. I'll definitely try, though. Watching someone play through on Youtube, I noticed a bunch of little spots in the beginning that I never went through. Lots still to explore...

yeah, going through again now, i'm going to try and not kill anyone. The first time I killed a bunch though. Especially in the beggining. But there were a lot of different routes I noticed. An obvious one may be a wall with a ladder or a hole to crawl through on it.

Same here.
Eva bike chase, Drebin chase, and opening the water tight door on Outer Haven.

Just beat it-all I have to say is wow. :applause:

I had to hurry afterwards so I didn't get a chance to look very hard, but is there a demo theater? I didn't see one, but I was really expecting there to be a demo theater. Does someone know whether there is one or not?
To me 10 should be the best of the best the legendary games that you would want to play for hours straight, I just don't think its a 10 and GTA 4 got a 10 also.

You didn't want to play this game through straight? I wanted to and did it to the best I could. Played it for 5-6 hour periods of time and beat it in about 3 days worth of playing.

I went through hell doing that water tight door. It's eeeeevil. Kept killing the gekko only for them to respawn. I finally did get through by chucking a chaff grenade followed by a smoke grenade in front of the door. I can't imagine doing that without an alert though...unless I throw like 10 smoke grenades.

There isn't. People watching a demo theater probably would not want to wait 3 minutes for it to install files for each act's movie clips.

I figured that might be the problem, but I still would like to be able to go back and watch them. Oh well. I did keep a few saves just in case there wasn't a demo theater.

In act five, in the beginning
when you land on Outer Haven, I was able to get to and through the water tight door without getting an alert. Camouflage and the tranquilizer pistol are your friends.

My first run through I had a horrible problem where I killed everything in sight. :whistle2:(

Thanks for the tip though, it'll help on my next run. :D

Trying to get 0 kills my second time around. I learned in Act 2 that if you tranq a man while he's climbing a ladder, he will die when he hits the ground - even if he's only 2 feet off the ground. However you can knock a frog soldier off of a van, and she will not die.
