Metal Gear Solid 4 & Metal Gear Online - 8/6: Rumored Trophy Update Out Now? Rumor!

...Are you kiddin' me?

Anyways, I don't have a problem with random CAGs joining. Espy was a lone case, and I had made it aware to him that I found his playing style annoying many days ago. He should have went a different room. He came in there just to be a prick, and when I asked him to stop, he gave me a smartass answer. When I asked him to leave, he gave me a smartass answer. So, I booted him and I will continue to do so.

Anyways, how do you guys aim when you shoot? Do you use first person? I seem to always die first when I'm shooting someone and they're shooting me.

I go with regular 3rd person when in near or medium range. 1st person is good with long distance.

I've learned a few days ago how damn great the M4 Custom is with the distance scope... so usefull!

hey, i almost finished playing the storyline, and after that would love to do some CAG games on MGO. however i have only done one online match and it was fun. but, i didn't really understand the nub training games or whatever. i did the training with the NPC's, and it was all pretty much... blah, stuff that i already knew. is there some kind of lobby or matchmaking that is specifically for beginners?

i love playing with the CAGs on CoD4 for 360, so, i'm hoping that this is a good one as well.

if anyone wants to add me as a friend or is willing to play with me sometime, i'd be greatly interested. (i am an east coast man!!!)

and just a few things on a side note, i have the headset, and hope it works, i tested it and all, just not really on the Online yet. (Its the MC:2 brand)

i'm new to the whole PS3, i just got it on Wednesday....so, i'm new to everything here

Yeah, there's like three servers that are for beginners only. Only players below a certain level can enter.
out of curiosity, why do you post in yellow?
well, i'm and avid poster in another forum, for a computer game that i used to play; Conquer Online, however i do not play it anymore, i still post there because i still have friends on the forums. i've just liked to post in different colors because it makes the words stand out more. yellow is, at least for me, easier on the eyes.

and on my other forum, i post a maroon red. and maroon red does not show up very well here, or...well... harder for me to read.

and its partially out of habit, i'm so used to pressing the "Color" button before i even start to type.

ok, cool, i thought that... i had entered the training or something, and it said select a "name" or "person" and it said like... Johnny --- 16.....

and i was really confused at what the names and numbers off to the side where...

but i'll have to check out that in a little bit. thanks, when my bro gets off of ratchet and clank >.>
I think just gaining their trust is good enough. When you're in their hideout, when they tell you to stop, do what they say. If you try to move around while they come towards you they will regard you as an enemy.

If you're already completed the game once and picked up the militia uniform in their hideout your first time through, you can just throw that on cuz you already have it in your inventory.
You have to have them show up as Blue to go through their hideout. If their names still show up as yellow, you have to sneak through their base.

The militia uniform disappears I believe on subsequent playthroughs you have to re-pick it up.
I think the alert stays on your record. I think you basically have to save at every checkpoint, and Exit and reload if you get an Alert? This is why I'm not doing it.
I think this is correct.
I found this completely ridiculous review for MGS4 on MetaCritic: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/cms_showcontent.aspx?ContentID=1182
Wow, somebody went a few extra stops on the hype train.

MGS4 was an excellent game, but not a 10. If it deserves GOTY status, it's only for it's legacy of games, similar to how Return of the King took the Best Picture Oscar.

I'll have to see if I can find the review again, but I read one a few days ago that literally compared MGS4 to Jesus. :whee:
hmm after thinkin about what I did I think I may have killed a frog by accident maybe. My first time through I used buck shots to get rid of her homing bombs. May have accidentally shot one while aiming for the bombs.

I just did the boss fight again this time using nothing but V-rings and stun grenades, including disposing of the bombs. I noticed though...while I was shooting them with the v-rings, some of the frogs got caught in the blasts and died. That doesn't count as a death on my part does it? lol

I think it should be pretty cut and dry about what counts as a kill or not (direct shot from me only), but just to make sure thought I'd ask around lol. I saved and stopped after the fight for now, will finish up tomorrow. My god if I get another 1 kill this time, forget about it. Nice thing about ps3 is the ability to easily transfer saves lol.

No kills runthroughs are a pain, because it's easy to mess up during sequences like the one you're talking about (I replayed the chase scene at the end of act 2 4 times before realizing that I messed up earlier in the level in the exact same way as you). It's also frustrating that if you kill, die, then go through it again with no kills, it'll still save the kill to your record unless you reload. This happened to me during the Rat Patrol sequence on Extreme where after over an hour I managed to get through with no kills, but it still said I had 7 by the end because of the times I was doing poorly and just decided to mess around killing everything in sight. Ah well. It gives me something to shoot for next time.

It's also frustrating that you can't check your kill/alert/continues stats through the pause menu. The only way to check them mid chapter is to go to the main menu, select mission briefing, load up the save game in question, and skip to the part where you can control the MK II and you'll see your stats scrolling across the screen. It's worth doing on a few occasions (say before and after the chase sequences and some bosses), but doing it constantly drains the game of a lot of its' fun, so I'd reccomend just doing your best to get no kills, alerts, or what have you and let the stats be damned.
Don't you get all your stuff back when you reach the cutscene where you meet Otacon and the Mk. II?
I am pretty sure you have to refind all the disguises except for the suit since that's a game copmletion bonus.

yea like Rolento said they show up at the start of the act that you picked them up in (after meeting mk II), and only for that act. I noticed when I went to go pick up the militia uniform in my second run that I didn't pick up anything of the sort in the hideout. Then I realized that it was already in my inventory.

In the South American level I equipped the rebel uniform right at the start of the uniform, and in place of where the costume should have been was some ammo or ramen or something.

I'll give that a shot, I wasn't doing too hot last night :whistle2:#

Ah, you're right.

I'm currently watching a Big Boss Emblem/Boss Extreme run on Youtbue which was apparently done in 3:17:XX. If someone wanted to do a speed run of it, I'd say under 3 hours is possible.

Could you link the run? I'd like to watch/save for when I make an attempt at it.

well now that I beat the game I think i'll move on to MGO.

Although it seems like I missed some drama hopefully I wont get booted from games for playing :) I use guns :p but like to knife fight espy because he cracks me up when he tries to sneak up behind me :)

As it turns out I did kill a frog during the boss battle. After convincing myself that I was messing up during the chase sequence but still coming out with 1 kill every time, I went back and defeated the boss again and completed the act with 0 kills. It was frustrating though cuz during the tracking part after, I would keep getting cautions where I never got any before.
It's a neat little run. Pretty easy to spot where his big mistakes are. It just starts playing so you guys know.
How did he change difficulty before engaging those two soldiers after they killed the militia guy? Or did he really change...looks like maybe the video got edited around?

You don't have to shoot those little orbs, rolling when they're on you is good enough.

I don't know how he did that. He did edit it though, and later on it shows, but in the end, he does get the Big Boss Emblem.

Anybody else want to pull their hair out when idiots on their team start CQC'ing people in the middle of a shoot out? Some moron on my team kept trying to use enemies as human shields, but it failed miserably. Finally, I just shot the guy he was holding, and then he starts CQC'ing me.

Does this game have a party system? I'm trying to play with my friends on the same team but it's a pain in the fuckin ass to have either my friend switch team (other people won't let him) or the team is full. Then when the next round starts I end up on the other team! What in the fuck? How are we supposed to play on the same team? This is getting extremely frustrating trying to organize a game through the shitty in game typing and then hoping we all end up on the same team. :bomb:

And then some complete fucking asshole on my team is CQCing me when I'm getting shot at. He did this TWICE. :bomb:

I just got to Level 1 @ 200 pts.

The game doesn't have a party system and as far as I can tell you can't join a friend. You have to manually find the server in a free battle. So no automatching with friends.

EDIT: Anyone want to get a match going?

if you add them as a friend, there is a go to their game option. It takes you to the game they are in.

There will definitely be a match going on tonight, there always is.

I tried to join a couple of friends yesterday, but I couldn't get into them. I had to have them tell me the server name to play with them.

Also, anyone notice that all rankings are down? Or is it just me?

EDIT: I have to get off MGO because of bad weather in the area. And I was on a hot streak >_

well i send a request for the CAG clan group.

and i just finished the game as well....

having never actually played any of the other MGS games (however i do plan on it, since i got the essentials kit)
i found myself rather choked up at the ending, it was really sad. i loved it, one of the best games that i have played in a LONG time. the character development was amazing, along with the storytelling.

I recommend after you finish the first three games go and play MGS4 again seeing as you'll probably garner more respect and understanding for it.

oh yea, i understand a little but, and plan on doing what you say.

and one thing about snake after the end of the game...
how long does he have to live? still only 3 months? it made it seem like that virus or whatever in him was non existent anymore.

Anybody found the ipod music "One Night in Neo Kobe City" yet?
I heard you get it on Act 3 holding up a PMC solider and performing a body seaech but I can't find it anywhere. Is it any PMC solider? I'm trying to find all the ipod music and this one is really ticking me off. HELP!!!
The rankings have been down for a while, I think. You should be able to "move to game" from your friend's list. Sometimes the lobby is full but you keep trying.

Electrical storms or something?
Well they just started up the server and I couldn't get in after a few minutes (it was just my friends) so I had to choose the server directly.

Just some thunder and lightning. Should pass soon though.

Snake has about six months to live. He was going to kill himself, because Naomi said that the old FOXDIE in him would begin to start killing non-targets in about 3 months. According to Big Boss, though, the new FOXDIE that Drebin put him (which is what killed EVA, Ocelot, and BB) has taken over, so the old one is no longer a threat. Eventually, the new FOXDIE would mutate, as well, but Snake will be dead by then.
Metal Gear Rex and Shagohod papercraft. Maybe one day I'll try it. Use cardstock paper.

Swell! I found these a few months back (or something similar), but then lost my bookmark for it. Thanks!

Hey espy605, what's your MGO name? I encountered a guy today who just did CQC + Knife and I thought it was funny and instantly thought of you.

It's espy. What's yours? There are a lot of knife users, some better than others, I just happen to be the only exclusive user here (although I think OldBoy is starting to use it a lot too).

I'm trying to, but I'm not that good at it yet, my knife skill is still 1. But when I played today I was mostly shooting. It depends on my mood

Also that metal gear rex paper thing. I'm attempting to do it, not very far... I just got the head and part of the neck done. I've never actually done one of these or even a model for that matter, but I'll give it a shot.
