The powers thing could be explained in a number of ways though- like, the magnetic field of the planet has deactivated your suits abilities, and as you progress you are able to modify it to work in that planet's atmosphere. Outside of this game, it seems like she always gets her suit or ship busted up and loses her parts. If i were in her boat, I would retreat back to my base and grab another suit out of my closet and get back to business.
