Metroid Prime 3 - Do Mother Brains' Have PMS? - 9.5 From IGN!
I'd be shocked if this was a sales blockbuster. Echoes didn't sell all that well, and it came out later in the GC lifespan when it had a user base probably over 2x the size of the Wii currently.

Also, with the casual gamer focus, a good bit of current Wii owners probably couldn't care less about games like this.

It will sell well, but I wouldn't expect it to be a million seller. Hell, I'd be surprised if it hit 500,000, unless it gets absolutely steller reviews and a lot of hype (which is non-existent right now). At least then all the serious gamers with Wii's would be apt to buy it.
With Resident Evil 4 on the Wii selling around 250,000 in the Americas alone, I think Prime will sell 500,000 very easily.

I think people are massively overestimating how many "casuals" have purchased the Wii. I would say a vast majority of Wiis are in the hands of the early adopters (aka: hardcore). As long as you still have to search to find a Wii in a store, the system is not selling to the casual crowd in any great numbers.

I'm with daroga, I think MP3 easily tops 500,000.

I hope all of the "hardcore" gamers buy this soon upon release to send a message to Nintendo and 3rd party developers that these types of games are wanted and appreciated on Wii.

Metroid Prime 3 is going to be a great game, no doubt about that. I'm sadden that Nintendo keeps relying on Metroid Prime 3 to carry out their hardcore argument. Also how they still fail to hype MP3.

I was watching the GT Retrospective on Metroid and it sorta got me hyped up for this. I think I might actually pick this up on day one.

Got a blue flash signal and it was Nintendo telling me they got a Metroid Prime 3 preview in the Wii Ware section for free. Go check it out!

Edit:
It's kinda like a youtube video section where the video is streamed to your Wii and is shrunk down a bit (not nearly as small as youtube though).

It's kinda neat to see that Nintendo is at least somewhat interested in doing something like this. It may not be game demos, but it's a start, in my opinion.

Not sound like a fanboy but I perfer this method rather than 360 way of downloading the entire video off the marketplace and onto my 360 hard drive only to be deleted after 2 or 3 viewings. Takes too long.

I think he was talking about the playable demos that the 360 commonly offers you man. Sometimes I prefer downloading movies to my harddrive anyway then watching them. That way I don't have to deal with badly streamed video hopefully this streams smoothly though.

Looks like Nintendo pulled a fast one and slipped in a Preview Channel for this. Its actually kinda cool. Trailer vid made me want it more than I've ever wanted it.

Holy crap! Is that why my Wii started glowing at 2am Friday morn? I'm listening to the CAGcast now but will check that out ASAP.

The Preview channel will update the next 2 Mondays with more videos apparently. And other news Metroid and Super Metroid will be hitting the VC on the 13th and 20th respectively.

Nice to see Nintendo trying, even if it's crap quality. (streamed, super compressed, small, mono)

Super Metroid would be the ultimate download. Can't wait.

Just watched the videos--first time I've seen video of the game. My hype meter just went up 1000 percent.

Grappling beam use in combat = win.

So glad I have this preordered.

I kind of find it weird that we finally get some sort of hype for this game immediately after Cassamassina asks for hype. It sounds a bit...coincidental.

I guess I can swing it... wasn't planning on buying anything else until Zack & Wiki.

Don't you have some spare EB trade 2 preorders? Or did you just get SSBB and Galaxy with those? I actually have this preordered from the FIRST EB trade 2 deal (Far Cry/Open Season). Even without those, I'd still probably pick this up at Gamecrazy (with credit of course) for the full $50.

So I could switch Battalion Wars over to Metroid and hope that another deal pops up before October.

Hopefully Nintendo will do this with the other big releases this year. I was going to wait to pick this up, but now I must own Prime 3.

Although I'm talking out of my ass, I honestly doubt that another deal would pop up. Maybe a Toys R Us Buy 2 get 1 Free? I know you've been looking forward to Battalion Wars so perhaps you would rather just straight up buy Metroid and keep your preorder in place for BW2.

Hehe. I really doubt that Matt C. knew any of this. Nintendo is extremely tight-lipped about almost every aspect of their business. I would say that this is a true coincidence.

This is a really smart move by Nintendo. The fact that it is a quick download which just streams data when you launch the channel is a nice touch. I like that they have teaser videos that will unlock on certain dates as well to keep people interested.

I already knew I was getting MP3 at launch so the best news of this whole thing to me is that Super Metroid is coming soon. I have never played it and can't wait to try it out.

So that's why my Wii was glowing at me this morning! I didn't have time to check... Sounds cool tho!

CouRageouS, where did you get those Wii signature blocks?

Also, I can't WAIT for super metroid to hit the VC... definate buy for me... thanks guys.

His whole article bothered me.

I think he's just pissed that his love interest isn't going to be there to fawn all over him any more.

It's a nice little freebie to see, not great by any means, but it's a start for them.

Downloaded this before work this morning. I'll say this: The fact that I had to leave for work in ten minutes, yet saw the blue flash and was able to
download this and watch all of it in that time earns Nintendo some points. Yeah, I would have liked it to be a little more substantial -- better quality video, more toys, maybe even an actual playable demo (dreaming) -- but for what it is, it's nicely implemented and was a nifty little surprise.

The one thing I kept wondering throughout was, if they can do this, why can't they integrate the video previews into the VC store? Or have they? I haven't really checked out the Wii Shop since the firmware update.

lol @ "But what frightens her most... She likes it!"

I was watching this this morning and my wife heard that part from the bedroom, asking "Are you watching porn?"

There are short videos of every VC title on the website, I believe.
There are short videos of every VC title on the website, I believe.
Better if they were in the WiiShop instead under more details.

I hope they do that. Wii is suited for streaming video.

That was weak... I was hoping for 480p widescreen videos so I'd know what it would look like on my LCD and instead I'm treated to tiny little steaming videos that take up like 50% of my screen.

Even still, I have to admit that looked pretty bad ass.

Anytime I see the Wii a'glowin I'm always simutaneously:

-putting on my tie
-letting the dog out
-tying my shoes
-brushing my teeth
-looking for my keys
...
-looking at the Wii, saying "now what?"

Then I must stop everything and see what's new in Nintendoland.

At first, I thought that it was a playable demo, and I was like "Awww, hhhhell no!"

At least Nintendo is attempting to reach out to its fans.

A nice surprise this morning, and yeah, I was in a similar spot-- needed to be getting ready, but allowed myself a couple of minutes to check this out. I started it downloading while I brushed, then came back to watch.

It was successful... I am more excited about the game now. REALLY excited to finally play Super Metroid!

Well that was pretty cool. Good way to use the VC games, as some people have suggested. I'll definitely be getting super metroid.

Cool idea, terrible execution. Full 480P videos would have been really nice.

However, it is good to see Nintendo hyping this up a little.
Now if they would just release Yoshi's Island on the VC.
Word. I thought SMW justified the Classic Controller purchase. That game control is tight.

And to stay on topic, I was disappointed that we didn't get something full-screen at least. Realize it would have been a HUGE download, but dammit, if you're going to do video delivery instead of demos, do it right.
